Yep, the servers are down folks!
From the EverQuest Live Downtime Page:
Scheduled Patch December 13th Wednesday, December 12 2001 15:38 PST
On Thursday, December 13th, at 12AM PST, (8AM GMT), all servers will be brought down for a scheduled patch. The estimated downtime is 4 hours.
