Let me express what many of you are feeling right now: Arrrrrrrrrgh! Let me in! Let me in! I want my Kitty! *breathe* OK. According to Sony, they are aware of the problems and are working on them, including bringing on more patching servers. Why they didn't think of this before, since this is almost identical to what happened at the original release is beyond me, but I'm sure they want you to play their game as much as you want to play it. Feel free to use this forum to try to help each other get into the game or to just console each other while you wait.

Well I don't know about the rest of you people who STILL can't log on,b ut as for me I'm done.
I still after countless different attmpts in countless different ways still cannot get past the "No 3D device found" and for all you people who want to post about directX 8.1....been there...done that, it doesnt work for me.
I for one no longer see any reason to shell out money to play a game where they expect me to pay even more money to upgrade my computer just to keep paying to play. My suspicious screams conspiracy between sony and certain manufacturers of the computer hardware industry (also corporations) after all their bottom line is to make money. Anyways im wandering off my main topic. I've basicly sent them mail to delete my account (since I can not even get on to do that one simple thing) and to refund my money for my unsused time and I urge everyone else who is having as bad a time as myself to do the same. My point of view is this....If someone costs you money then cost them money back nothing hurts a corporation more than loss of revenue and they are so deserving of it. the game was fun but their service before luclin was mediocre at best.
Nothing makes a corporation do a 180 turn bout like the fear off loss of money....they really ned to have a heaping dose of fear.

I have downloaded direct x8.1 and I still get that 3D sh it I have even downloaded it 3or 4 times still doesn't work I did everthing in the book and nothing. this point I think who ever in charge can go to hell this is what I say go back to the old direct that way everyone can play again yes the graphics might not be as good but god everone can play and thats the main point they need to look at.

allright well i jsut went and bragged about all that yet i got in and everything looked allright and all that yet lag i got out of EC tunnel and a top it to try and get out of the lag yet it seems ot be through the whole zone and i heared other posts say the same now i know EC is VERY lagful but not when u first get on u whould have about 5 min of movement! but who knows about the lag?

I was enjoying the game a few days ago now I'm waiting for a win 98 OS for my Dell to support Directx 8.1. I had 8.0a loaded and ready to go. This sucks that they change the requirements at the last minute. I can't even get to chat to gripe to verant.

I downloaded all the patches/files. I downloaded DirectX 8.1 before the luclin up grade, and i redownloaded it after the upgrade. I tried to download updated drivers, but that was pointless, try finding drivers for a 2 year old video card. I've basicly sent them mail asking for the remainder of my 6 months of time i purchased to be refunded and for my account to be deleted since I CANT EVEN DO THAT!!! anyways i digress. I can get the same amount of blatant disregard and abuse for the same cost from a $10 hooker dressed in leather weilding a whip and still get twice the enjoyment that i can from the sony corporation. In the future I plan to go out of my way to not purchase anything made,owned or affiliated with them.

To those who I played with who read this post I had a ton of fun playing with you guys(and dying...which I did alot of), and you knew my low opinion of the management of the game before this whole luclin crap started. I will really miss you all alot :)

I am also having problems getting in and am wondering how to cancel my EQ account,I have windows 95 operating system so i can never get back in,(and to computer illiterate to realize that before hand).Anyone have any idea on how I can cancel my account. Once again I cant get in and will never be able to get in cause cant download DX 8.1 with Windows 95 operator.Please help.Thx.

I agree dont fix it if it aint broke. I would think verant was still making enough plat off of the trilogy release. Surely the proportion of lvl 60's that have conquered every possible zone and mob boss to those of us still trying to build characters and are perfectly satisfied with the ample number of zones to hunt isn't that great. I suggest making an uber server for that small group of folks and allow them to test the waters of verant's "most ambitious expansion to date" instead of forcing the rest of us to suffer through this incompetent nonsense.

man you can cancel if you want well if I was you I would since you can't play and all go to www.everquest.com you can talk to a GM in there all you need is a form and tell them that you want to cancel it i think that will work well thats what Im doing if it doesn't work i rasing some hell and well be calling them giving them a peice of my mine which will get ugly I got a filling

allright yall im fixed i know i didnt do anything so anyone who has what i just put in that post up there should be fixed now i got on and they have this news screen it says they have fixed several bugs i counmted about 20 guys i really do think there working hard to get us in there! so dont take it so hard on them. so just be patient and keep trying to sign on and to the guy who was complaining about dirty looks and all that **** i beleive they changed it they said they fixed a bug with hair and facial features exc. and one with the actual looks of the char. hope that helps but see ya later gotta go cook dinner )

ok i get all the way up to character select screen to see my chars. anmes in black boxes (can't even see letters) and i see the char and the lvl. and name but black box with white words. when its loading it has this new black box at the bottom with white and some time red words saying loading into world and all that then thats to the char. select screen and log in but when i get in theres a black screen blocking my view and i cant see my own writting and only some others cause i was on at night in EC! and i only saw one or 2 green auctions and one shout was a bit laggy and was typing and i had black boxes around my text thats why i couldnt see it yet when i went into persona i could see my veiw but black boxes around items and such in there too! and so i logged (camped) back out and when i did it booted me back to desktop might there be anything wrong with the #D cartrage i got? i can only tell you this: i have a hewlett packard pavilion with windows ME i think i have aorund 512MB and i downloaded DX8.1 on monday can anyone help? thnaks in advance im gonna go try again on EQ see if anyone will respond to me on EQ if i can still see there text that is!

I talked with my tech. last week and was informed that Windows ME can not handle 512 Mb RAM. I'm told that the ME Operating System starts getting errors and works very badly. The most RAM that windows ME can handle is 384 Mb. I'm upgrading to Windows XP before I add any more RAM. Good Hunting to you my friends.

In trying to expand the game, Verant has screwed it up instead.
For the past couple of days, ive had noting else to do except go surfing (not net surfing, the real kind of surfing.)
Hopefully Verant wil fix this problem soon.
Oh yeah... whoever the guy is that sent in the post titled "unbelievable" (the guy who says that EQ player are being "a bit overzealous") is DEFINITLEY a loser.
Go complaint to your wife, man- you know, the one who hates dating :)

Has anyone seen a solution for the "EQ kicking back to desktop after Server Selection Screen" problem yet? I've tried all of the advice posted on EQLive, posted a question to EQ Support (I don't expect to receive a quick reply at this time), made sure my drivers are up-to-date, have an "acceptable" video card (Nvidia TNT2), etc. I have Win XP with the latest DirectX 8.1, latest drivers, deleted files, repatched, checked all of my settings etc. blah blah blah. Did everything but buy a new computer.

I will appreciate any information or help on this.

Same issue here. no solution yet, but if i figure out how to fix it, i'll post here for followup.

not sure if this is part of the problem, but i can only successfully patch one out of 5 times or so now. get the message:

"everquest has caused an error up your ***. everquest will now close and lock up your computer in the process"

or something like that. anyway, good luck to ya and cross your fingers. =)

I after three days have got it all working WITH a brand new character, if i pick my old one it just hangs forever,

I once heard someone say something about the characters being cache to the ERQ home dir somewhere and to delete them but i cant find anything, does anyone know about this???

Maybe this doesn't belong here, but if you're not in yet, be ready for a shock. The new faces are... really new. I happen to so hate my char's new face that I'm honestly ready to quit. There is now only one face. You can modify it by adding these "blotches" or taking them away, so you get "character" by deciding how "dirty" your face looks. Hair has no texture, pukey colors, and largely weird shapes. A few races did ok, like humans. Halflings and Gnomes - sigh. Ruined. If you don't agree with me, okay - but if you do, be sure to fight back.
The charm, distinctiveness and fun of the old faces is totally gone. All faces are uniform, bland, muddy - ugh. NOTHING of the old faces carries over. TECHNICALLY, maybe they have smoother lines and are in some techie sense - better. But artistically - total suckage.
If you don't like your new face, fight back. /feedback your rage or disappointment. Don't give in. Yes, we can go back to the old faces on our own machines. But this doesn't comfort me. I finally realized why. Everyone else is gonna be seeing my new pukey face - a person who I am NOT. Also Verant is wasting the money we pay them to make the game worse, not better. If you agree with me, fight back.
If all you see is the new tech-oriented changes - and these excite you - and if you're mad at me or don't understand me - don't just immediately dismiss me. Don't be "overly loyal" to Verant (players love to say, hey, they work hard, this is pretty darn good, quityer bellyachin or play sumpin else). I have no time for this mentality. We have a right to criticize them. The game will only improve if Verant knows we will punish them if they mess up. BTW droves of players have quit over the past months (and stopped paying) due to problems - which the company is now trying to fix. Anyway, go back in and take a good look at the new faces. Do they have any charm, life or distinctiveness? While more spiffy and smoother, are they better? Do you have any choice any more? Think about it.

Anyone having problems with screen overlapping. ALso items are not showing up with what they are suppose to be. I am not running SOL. have a amdx 1.3ghz processor. 128 ram. Video card is s3 graphics Pro Savage. Did not have any problems befor patch.

I am also having the same problem with screen overlap. I am running on a very old system (64 MB and a STB Velocity 128 video card) but I was running fine before the patch. Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I saw in chat with that video card you need a new one it does not have enough ram to handle new evercrap. Mine also was working before patch just bought new comp less then month ago.:(

Well, this is day four for me of no Everquest, getting a little annoyed ( you have become better at understatement 76 ) have jumped through every hoop suggested by Sony website, my other comp is now ruined, the more i do the worse it gets, no email, they tell me now it may be CIH virus that causes re run of patch= optional patch program updated, please restart Everquest.exe, over and over again, this on both my comps.
i am supposed to believe that my two totally unconnected comps get the same virus at the same time (and my RL friend too )yeah right!

the only thing i have downloaded since sunday is their suggested fix for the patcher issues eqgame.exe.

Man you got that right. I cured the no 3-d card problem (a two hour set of downloads) and bought another 256 megs of ram (now have 512). Got in at last late last night and saw my character in slow mode while every monster was floating 30 feet high in space. Lag began immediately and soon went red which classically disconnected me and I went to bed.
This am tried again, hmm patch. later tried again and got more and more fustrated as each time I got in I got disconnected. Once I made to a zone only to have the classic black screen (totally locked).
Lets see, I liked the look but frankly I was so ticked off after getting disconnected again I tried to call Sony and if i could have gotten through I probably would have cancelled both of my accounts and said adios to a year plus of eq.
To put it mildly, this stinks. They knew this was coming and just weren't ready.
What really stinks is the lack of apologies and update messages.
I wonder how many poor souls have been blaming their own computers when its EQ causing the problems.
Stress like this I get in RL and I dont get charged for each expansion and monthly (plus the ISP cost).
Won't put up with this much longer.

Quick question. I know nothing about 3D graphics cards. My computer says I have a 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee APG, but Verant only has Voodoo 3 and Voodoo 5 listed as usable sound cards. Are either of those the drivers I'm looking for?
