Let me express what many of you are feeling right now: Arrrrrrrrrgh! Let me in! Let me in! I want my Kitty! *breathe* OK. According to Sony, they are aware of the problems and are working on them, including bringing on more patching servers. Why they didn't think of this before, since this is almost identical to what happened at the original release is beyond me, but I'm sure they want you to play their game as much as you want to play it. Feel free to use this forum to try to help each other get into the game or to just console each other while you wait.

fix for "no 3d device"

To fix "no 3d device" click on yer start menu button, go to "run", type in dxdiag. when the window comes up, go to display. Make sure your 3d accelerations are enabled. As far as I know, this is the best way to enable your 3d hardware. Another way is right click on yer desktop to bring up display properties. Click the "settings" tab, click "advanced" then click the performance tab. If you have a supported vid card, max out the hardware acceleration slider. One of these should ( I damn near wana say it WILL) fix the "no 3d device found" IF all yer driver are up to date and have a supported card. I have tried 3 different unsupported vid cards pre SoL and using this, I have not had any vid problems at all.

Whew, I am sure glad I found this site. I was getting very frustrated with this stupid thing. Thought something was wrong with my brand new computer I just bought to play this new version of EQ. Lotta good that did me. Went out and got the Athlon 4 1600 with 512 DDR RAM. Thought I might have wasted alot of money... I hope not.

this whole damn thig is messing up my computer i have not got to play my druid for like 3days and i am relly starting to get pissed.The damn thing says that the net is down and all that **** when it is not i think thay just need to have every one ship it back and have a refound so we can get back to playing the god damn game but that is only my 500cents.....i am like going nuts I WANT TO PLAY AND SO DO U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone else find it fitting that Everquests catch title is: Your in our world now?

We all wish we were in their world. We were yesterday!

Anyone I also bought this first thing this morning. Had to go to work. Am still at work, talking my wife through what to do with the patch error messages etc...

She can't wait to get on and get a Kitty. I just want to get on and get my Luclin spells for my ranger.

We are through the patch process, but now can't connect because of too many people. I don't even want to think what will happen when I get to the registration page.

At least I am off again until Friday. Hope I am on before then. Good luck to everyone. Hang in there, and I'll see you on line!

I agree with the post about the new patcher. I have not talked to anyone who actually likes the damn thing. It IS way slower, it IS more laggy, and it has a terrible tendancy to lock up even when they aren't putting an expansion in. I want my old grey patcher back that always worked. I could care less if the patcher looks nice or has more options than the old one. I want to play the GAME, not the patcher. *takes a breath* Hopefully we will be given an option to change back to the other patcher.

Other than the lockup problem, the old patcher is not any better today. I had to reinstall eq because of some problems (long story) and still can't patch.

Ok, I had all that DLing nightmare crap, it was horrible, but I finally got on, but as I get to the character select screen, I notice that there are black boxes covering all my chracter names... thought that was wierd, logged in, not caring 'cause at least I'm playing EQ, I get on and CAN'T SEE CRAP... all the text had black boxes behind or infront of it, opened up my inventory and to my amazement, I could see again, only to see the horrid black boxes in the tree leaves... sigh, log out, DL new drivers, already had DX 8.1, miraculously, I get back in very easily, and find out my problem is not fixed, but I did find a way around having to have your inventory open to see, just throw it into fullscreen, but you still get the black boxes around everything else, decide to go into chat, find out many others are experiencing this problem, then was told to install new drivers and DX again, so I said what the heck, did it, came back again... after several angering tries to get the patcher to work, logged on, didn't work, go back to chat, only thing suggested was to get a new video card... I don't have 200 bucks to spend on a new card, I don't even have enough to get the expansion, I have to wait for Christmas to get it plus RAM, now a video card too, this is just bull, take your damn cats back and just add a new zone in Erudin again, less ******** and moaning will go on and VI would look like big idiots instead of total morons, anyways, that's my rant, yeah I like the idea of new race/class/zones, but when you ***** everything to hell... that just pisses everyone off

I hate this crap. Between the original patch probs and this new one, I haven't been able to get on for over 3 days now. What are we paying for anyway? Do we pay a monthly fee to hear that the servers aren't working correctly? I didn't think so when i signed up. I pay to play. This is getting real old. Like someone else said, I think that we shouldn't have to load the patches unless we purchased Luclin.

Well -- my problem with the patch is "Error Parsing XML". I have Windows XP and thought I had the latest Direct X -- I guess I will try installing the Direct X "8.1" from EQ. Gee and I was just getting back into EQ after being away for a while -- I even downloaded all of the maps from EQAtlas -- sigh

WELL, GETTIN LATER AND LATER AND AS I SCAN 4-5 DIFFERENT MESSAGE BOARDS FOR INFO I JUST FOUND A POST ON THE VN BOARDS..SOMEONE SAID THEY FIGURED OUT THE PROBLM.SOMETHING ABOUT SONY CHANGED THE NAME OF THE FILE AND DEFAULT SETTING ON THE DOWLOAD FROM D TO E. WEB PAGE VNBOARDS.IGN.COM

IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW TO CORRECT..IM NOT FAMILIAR WITH HOW TO ADJUST THE DEFAULT SETTING...

P.S. I THINK SONY AND VERANT SHOULD DO SOMETHING FOR US EQ FAITHFULL TO MAKE UP FOR THIS...THIS DOES SUK AFTER ALL THE BUILD-UP!

yeah, it's called "Turn off your PCs and find something else to occupy your time for the next couple of days.". :-)

I don't anticipate them bringing online a few more servers will honestly do much good. Granted, it's a step in the right direction, but with the obvious overload, it'll take an entire farm of servers to get the ball rolling again....

I'd like to take half a second to thank Allakhazam for putting this forum up. At least I know that Im not the only person having problems. And he's doing a lot more than Sony/Verant is doing to alleviate some frustration. These little bits of information they keep giving us are useless without some kind of timetable to look at....

Anyway, thank you Allakhazam for making this process a little easier

All right, my 2 cents...
Everybody relax, it is not our fault. This is Sony/Verant's **** up due to gross incompetence. The genius think tank at Sony apparently didn't take into account the rabid fan base that they have cultivated. These idiots dont realize that if you promote such a game, send e-mails, do in store promotions, get thousands of PAYING customers panting in anticipation --YOU BETTER BE ******* READY TO GO WHEN YOU SAY YOU ARE!!!
This is going to be a PR nightmare for Sony.

ive had so many errors its not even funny! the patcher never connects, freezes, or dissapeares. in addition....says my everquest.exe file is currupted! WTF. well anyhow, i reinstalled EQ bout 4 times over the last 5 hours or so and tryed all sortsa funky combos of expansions and options. now i have to spend 12 hours repatching AND customer service is buisy...oh joy

ok, I thought it was just mine. Ihad dx8.1 already. had it all week with no problems. now the patcher says Everquest.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. You would have thought they would have tested the patcher before they actually went live.

Curiosity got the better of me (i finally, just now managed to connect to the patch server; where I was able to successfully download a whopping 3 .txt files (manual upgrades) before it just died again.

I thought for a moment it may be my computer. I called cable and said I keep getting disconnected. They tried alot and finally said it was not them :). So EQ of course I predict by Friday is we are lucky.
