Sadly, this means necros will be giving up some spots to healers on raids. Heal parse on CoB raid tonight, necro's were like a tenth of the healers they were.

Oh well, it'll make druids/shaman/clerics happy, at a loss of raid dps.

Agreed that the top Necros in raiding guilds will retain their positions for their sustained dps.

But the last 3 years (since we got RB), more necros were started for raids than previously, some also for the healing coverage via RB in some of the groups that had more castors and less tanks/melees in their make up.

After this nerf some will probably be benched as there are always other DPS classes competing for the same spot.

No doubt, the Mind Abrasion line is good but RB was a great ability which made Necros useful/wanted in groups, especially as their DPS suffers noticeably in higher dps groups taking down mobs in under 30 secs..

The orbs are also handy I use them especially soloing, but they have a cooldown time that makes them much less effective in groups at the higher levels with the dps the mobs are putting out..More of an emergency direct heal because of this cooldown time imho.

The RB AA was listed as 2000 or 2500hp heals iirc but with focus, all healing AA's etc it was giving a non aggro group heal from 6-8 k hps to ~16 k hps on my lvl 90 Necro with all the healing aas etc.

RB was a massive ability compared.

Correction:

Postnerf : Only the Necro can proc the group heal. Other members of the group can benefit from the necro proccing the group buff. But the other group members cannot proc the heals anymore.

Still, a major nerf to the ability for a necro in group.

Recast time was nerfed also by about one minute. Where as before it was almost perma available.

There was only about a 5 sec lapse between when the buff wore off and recast cooldown period ended. Now about 1 minute iirc.

Ahh well................Most good things come to an end................................................eventually.
RB nerf is terribly thought out.

Dreadful nerf to Reluctant Benevolence : To remove the group heal effect...

Back to soloing only for my Necro main and "bench time" for some raiding necromancers..

Assinine decision by the developers..They could have reduced the heal amount and keep the group heal..as that was a major plus for grouping with a Necro when doing harder content..

Arrgh...I feel to bench my Necro in favor of other alts...problem is he is my main.
RB nerf is terribly thought out.

Just curious Hex, why in the world would you bench a Necro. Necro's rock and our dps is extremely valuable! Supplement with healing orbs. Cast and create dozens of healing orbs before even leaving GH on a dummy then use those as well. :)
RB nerf is terribly thought out.

Also, our Mind Abrasion is super helpful in the lower mana regen groups for long raid events.
