Guild Wars 2: Queen's Speech

The next content patch for Guild Wars 2 comes August 20th and continues the Queen's celebration.

The next content patch for Guild Wars 2, Queen's Speech, will be the last patch before the one-year anniversary of GW2 on August 28th. The Queen's Speech content continues from last week's patch, the Queen's Jubilee, with the celebration for 10 years of Queen Jennah's rule. Queen Jennah has gathered the inhabitants of Kryta to give a state-of-the-nation address and reflect on her years in power. An air of mystery hangs over the event however, leaving players to wonder what might be in store. Only time will tell what mysteries unfold.

As part of the new content, players will be able to celebrate the one-year anniversary with new rewards and gem store sales.

  • Infinite Watchknight Tonic -- Players who complete this Living World's meta achievement will recieve an infinite use tonic that transforms them into a Watchknight.
  • Birthday Gifts -- Familiar to GW1 players, characters will receive a gift as they reach their first birthday. Included in the gift will be a Mini Queen Jennah, a 24-hour Birthday Booster and an Experience Scroll.
  • Ten Days of Black Lion Sales -- Starting Friday, Aug. 23 at 12:01 a.m. PT, players will be able to purchase items and weapon skins that had limited time sales during the game's first year.

World vs. World continues to get included in each patch with a new mastery line and a change to the rate of World XP.

  • WvW Trebuchet Mastery -- This new ability line will improve trebuchets by increasing the basic shot damage and hit radius, adding a new supply-draining effect to the basic shot and a new Healing Oasis skill that provides healing to teammates.
  • World Experience and Point Adjustments -- Earning WXP will be easier as the gain will be increased across the board. Players will also start with one ability point to use, while veterans will get another free point so that the point total matches a player's rank.

The Queen's Speech content patch will release next Tuesday, August 20th.

UPDATE: The End of Culling in PvE! Also coming with the patch next week is the end of culling in GW2, which will remove the limit to the number of characters you can see on-screen.
