The Star Trek Online team has published another ship update, and this one's for the Oslo class, which is meant for heavy escort. It has a modular ship design, which means it can exchange many components with its sister ships, the Akira and the Zephyr. The purpose of this is to be able to easily make repairs in the field, especially since the Oslo will generally be on the frontlines of battle.

The Oslo is designed to have strong defenses and "is favored by captains who prefer fast, maneuverable ships that can end a battle quickly." Its weaponry is perfect for rapid-fire, hard-hitting assaults. It has a phaser array on the dorsal bow, five Type XII phaser arrays and two torpedo launchers that can fire photon or quantum torpedoes. The Oslo also can be retrofitted to carry plasma weapons.

Since there's limited room on board for medical or scientific research facilities, having an engineering vessel nearby will keep the Oslo in the fight for as long as possible. So consider adding the class to your battle group for modular flexibility and fast, heavy escort.
