Cryptic Reminds Prospective Testers to Remain Calm

While fans are obviously very eager to help test the upcoming Star Trek MMO, it seems as though Cryptic is getting a few too many enthusiastic volunteers before they even open Beta applications! Awen, the Online Community Lead for Cryptic, made a post earlier in the day about becoming a Beta Tester. In particular, he notes that fans should make sure they're registered on the forums, and that the Cryptic team will be grabbing members from the community first. Awen also stresses the fact that spamming Cryptic with support emails and forum PMs will not get you into the Beta more quickly.

Who'd have thought?

I've been getting quite a few support tickets, emails and private messages regarding this so I thought that I would make a general announcement on the forums so things are cleared up.

1. We are still in the development phase of production. The only people in the game are developers and employees of Cryptic.

2. Sending emails to the support at the bottom of the webpage will not get you into beta any more quickly.

3. Sending me a PM will not get you into beta more quickly.

So what will get you into beta?

1. Make sure you are registered on the forums. We will be opening up applications in the future and we will be pulling community members first. Register! You don't have to post, you don't have to troll. All you have to do is make sure you are a registered member of this website. Oh and log on.

2. Have patience. I know I keep stressing patience, but it's for a good reason. If you start getting antsy and disruptive, your chances of being chosen for beta are dropped considerably. It's true.

3. Keep an eye on the website. We will let you know right here when we're going to open up beta applications. Asking me directly won't help. I am not going to answer you.

So, with that all said, have patience, register on the forums and keep an eye on the website. Things are happening very quickly now and I think that you will be surprised how fast it comes.

Feel free to discuss this and more on the Star Trek forums here. Maybe you'll get into the beta for doing so!
