Alongside the successful launch of the Open Beta program for pre-order customers, Turbine Inc announced the first content update for the Lord of the Rings Online! Thus far, there are only two significant items mentioned: a new sub-race of hobbits (Sméorufolc) and their starting area. Details of this exciting addition can be found below:

WESTWOOD, MA - April 1, 2007 -- Turbine, Inc. today announced its first major content update planned for The Lord of the Rings Online^TM: Shadows of Angmar^TM (LOTRO). The first update is set to begin at Chapter 9 where the launched product leaves off. Turbine revealed that Chapter 9 includes a new starting location and playable race based upon the Hobbits of the Blue Mountains.
