Diving Deep: Journey Into The Sims 4
Cyliena delved into The Sims 4 over the past week and has an in-depth analysis.
I have obviously enjoyed my time spent in The Sims 4 so far. For being a Sims franchise base game, it brings the charm and fun that fans of the series have come to expect. The game is packed with humor and surprises, boldly taking on a vibrant life of its own.
It would be remiss to not also mention that the game isn't perfect. The Sims 4 has its share of launch bugs, missing features that fans consider core to the series, quirks, and new features that, while they do function quite well, don't always work entirely as intended. Customizing isn't as unique as it once was, and for some reason Maxis must not like the color orange, because it's very difficult to find any clothing pieces using it. As with any new game, some of these things are to be expected, while others we can just hope are addressed in the near future.
The good of the game far outweighs any negative aspect of it. I was excited to get my hands on the building tools in The Sims 4, but expected the live gameplay mode to not live up to the hype. I'm very happy that I was wrong; the game lives up to the hype and beyond. It was well worth every penny I plunked down on it and I foresee many after-work hours being spent in-game.
Do I think you should buy it? The only thing I think right now is why haven't you bought it yet! Go get it! Now!

There are way too many fun moments I've had in the game already, and while screenshots don't tell an entire story, they certainly make some fantastic memories. Many of mine are already peppered throughout the review, but here's a few more I'd like to share.
This was the creepiest moment I've experienced in the game. Ginni autonomously decided to grab a plate of food so I let her go on her own. She got the food, went across the house to head upstairs, and entered Jeau's bedroom. Ginni ate the entire meal just standing there, staring in his direction, while he slept.
You can play Blicblock on your computer or the VR gaming pad. Both raise your video gaming skill.
One of the more extravagant children's toys is a pirate ship.
An amusing multi-tasking scenario: reading a book on the bathroom floor while engaging in a group discussion.
Speaking of bathrooms, if you raise your Handiness skill some, you can upgrade your toilets with a bidet.
When your sim uses a toilet with a bidet they get a Happy moodlet from it... and sometimes say "Oooo!"
Ginni after running out of the bathroom, where she accidentally walked in on Jeau using the toilet.
He probably was enjoying that bidet too much.
Some of the social interactions are can take you humorously by surprise. Joke about Chicken Butt while getting to know your father better? Why not. There's also this hilarious interaction involving schemes and bacon.
