Traversing Telara: Gods and Souls

The Latest Installment in a Journey Through Rift

The first was given to me by Greilyn Sevillien. He handed me a Water Orb and wants me to use it near the well in the center of town to revive Sea Serfs. These elemental creatures will then follow me around until I pass close to a fire, where they will leave my side to extinguish the blaze. Greilyn wants me to put out three of the fires in this manner.

The third task I have is to seek out someone called Ted Powell in the Smith’s Haven supply cave, and help him escort a citizen to safety. This one is relatively easy. After talking to Ted, a citizen joins me. I simply moved around the perimeter of the town and stepped out of the gate to complete this task.

After defeating the three generals, it is time to move away from Smith’s Have for a while. March Warden Denegar is so impressed with my abilities he wants me to travel to the watchtower in front of Jakub’s Iron Fortress and kill the undead creature, Durgin the Keeper. This is the first stage in Denegar’s plan to kill Jakub once and for all. Deal with Durgin, and we can move on to Jakub. Every other warrior Denegar has sent against Durgin has been killed.

I make my way up the path leading to the Iron Fortress, killing many, many undead creatures that guard the path (they respawn quite quickly, so you'll have to move fast). I find Durgin at the top of the tower and we battle to the death. His death, to be exact. He is not as difficult to defeat as Denegar made out. Or perhaps he sent under qualified fighters against him. I return to the March Warden with the good news.

“In life,” he says, “Durgin the Keeper was one of Jakub's most brutal warriors, and he remained that way in death. I can only hope we've seen the last of him.”

Next up? Entering the Iron Fortress itself and slaying Jakub.
