A Buyer's Guide to League of Legends: Miss Fortune

Is this fast-moving, quick-shooting champion worth YOUR hard-earned RP / IP? Let's find out!

Miss Fortune, on the other hand, is not only capable of contributing to team fights, she’s often expected to. What I really like about Miss Fortune is just how little room she has for making errors. You see, the only defense Miss Fortune has lies in her movement speed; if she ever gets hit by a stray attack in a team fight, it’s pretty much game over against an intelligent team who can jump on you and grind you to the ground. In this way, playing a good Miss Fortune requires you to know where the bulk of the battle is taking place and then to set yourself up as a sniper; to pick apart the opposition without getting caught, and to use your superior movement speed to get away if they want to focus on you.

In playing Miss Fortune this way, there really is only one other champion that reminds me of her play style: Kog’maw. Both of these champions are extremely effective in whittling down their opposition, and although Kog’maw is more powerful in terms of singular killing power, Miss Fortune makes up for it with her powerful Bullet Time, an ability that can often change team fights if timed properly. Unfortunately, champions like Kog’maw and Miss Fortune who have very little by way of defensive capabilities, must rely on having a solid frontline before they can really shine. Amumu, Allistar, Kayle, Morgana (to an extent), Singed, Annivia, Xin Zhao and any other champion that can dictate the flow of battle are all necessary pairings with Miss Fortune in order to get her true value. I’ve noticed that in games without any of the above heroes, Miss Fortune ends up being relegated to channeling a hasty ultimate before needing to run away. In another game with an impressively played Allistar, I found that I could pick up at least two to three kills per fight by picking them apart with Double Up and Impure Shots while Allistar threw them around. That’s how big the difference is.

In the end, however, what I think justifies Miss Fortune’s price tag is simply the fact that she is fun and, while her abilities may not be unique, her play style (that of a mobile sniper) is fairly complex to master, especially against teams in the higher ELO ratings. I can’t recall a game where I didn’t have fun zipping around the map with Miss Fortune, and for those of you who really enjoy playing that glass cannon hero who survives purely by map awareness and smart mobility, this champion might be for you!
