EQoA Game Update for August 15th

Straight from the official site: August 15, 2003 The citizens of Freeport wish to thank those individuals who united in defense of their city and drove the orcish horde back into the desert. While the orcs will certainly never stop in their quest to burn Freeport to the ground, the direct attacks on the city itself have stopped...for now. Also a very special thanks from Commander Nothard himself goes out to the brave rangers and their companions who were able to warn the city of their impending doom just in time. Without the selfless efforts of these individuals, the orcs would have taken the city by surprise and may have very well succeeded in their goal of conquest. NPCs: Non unique NPCs lvl 51 or higher (yellow or red to a lvl 50 character) now use the proper level ability list for their class. Adjusted item drop rates of items carried by Mathew in Collonridge cemetery to better reflect the encounter's difficulty and level. Items: The Hammer of Divine Grace's proc will now properly damage the wielder's opponent Oracle Girdle can now be used by all Shaman races Steel Aquamarine Pendant is now properly equipable in the Neck slot Earthwhisper robe now has the correct number of item HP for its level. Gloves of the Plaguebringer now use the padded armor texture.

WHAT RAID????
# Aug 31 2003 at 6:30 AM Rating: Default
Ok, I'm usually only on for a couple hours a day, but every time I got on I ALWAYS made a special trip to Freeport to see if there were orcs in the city. Every single time I saw NOTHING! I asked people if the raid started or if they've seen any orcs. The answer was always a big fat NO.

I don't know if the planners set it up in only one server or whether they just advertised for it and forgot to start it. Whatever the reason was, I'm was pretty disappointed with the whole thing. Whoever's running things with this game needs to do a better job in the future or get fired or something.
Raids

Geez what the hell was so great about the raids?. I thought they were poorly planned and a waste of time. I spend alot of time in freeport selling and am often attacked by random spawns of these orcs. But geez by the time it hits me 2 times the quards are all over them, and when I do get an oppurtunity to kill one, the drops are bad. So I ask again what the hell is so great?. This thing could be huge if planned properly.
gaurds

the raids were great but why can a gaurd hit it once and ks you they should be like anyone else if you do most of the damage the gaurd shopuld not be able to ks....

Since the Guard Smitty Quest popped up around the same time as the raids, and appeared to be related to Orcs attacking, does this mean that quest is over as well? I hope not, although I have not been able to figure out the riddle either, I would like the chance to finish it.

We want more! Too bad the orcs aren't invading anymore, I never got to see thre huge raid where lvl 53 orcs ransacked the city, wish I could have taken part, that would have been awesome. But there are more mobs in the game that people have never fought, Kratas the giant squid being one of them, on the PPO server not long ago was the first take down. Took 20 lvl 50's 2 hrs to beat him. And there are other mobs as well, indiscovered quests. But I still want more raisd it was awesome.
I hope the do this again

I liked that the orcs invaded, but the invasion was too puny and too poorly planned, in my estimation. Also, the fact that orcs popped in various spots was odd. (Why not have them march in waves from the south, or slip thru the pass at ToK and come from the north.) Also, why leave MTG behind when hitting FP? Wouldn't it be logical that MTG see some action as its closer and a possible location for a counterattack on the invasion?
I agree with the earlier posts as well, bring more city invasions. It makes the game more realistic when diplomacy breaks down and one city or race goes to war, or one of the npc/mob races decides to go on the rampage again. (And the way that Moridhim always looks so battered and under seige with the giant balistae guarding the door, wouldn't it be awesome if the orcs from Thedruk or the Frosteye Hordes allied with the gobbies and invaded? Or is that why Kaladim is created and the dwarves migrate to a different continent?)

RAIDS R COOL!
# Aug 16 2003 at 8:54 PM Rating: Excellent
i though the whole raid on FP was cool but like only 4 or 5 orcs would spawn at a time, i think 20 orcs or so should spawn and they should be different levels so lower level characters can take place in the raid too! Just a thought. :)
Do IT AGAIN

Hes right we need more raids on the cities. The same old hack and slash action is boring. I liked goin to fp and seeing all the choas and if u ask me there wasnt enough orcs that spawn. I belive they should have more raids and mabye in diffrent cities.
I think aviaks should run up in Highbourne
well just a thought
Bolthin 44 ranger ferrans hope

WHAT?!?!

You gotta be kiddin me? No more orc raids!! Well doesn't that just take the elemnt of suprise, intrigue and challenge right out of Freeport. I bet it was from all the sniveling and whining people did about dying. See to me freeport was always the easy way out. Want to be good? fine you could do that. Want to be evil? Cool... you can do that too. Sick of waitning for an hour because your starting city's population is counted on your hands? Thats great cause Freeport solves that as well.

So with all these benefits, (and the fact that you can hunt almost anywhere since there are 3 million camps nearby) it only seemed fair, just, and appropriate for freeport to have the "sudden-death Syndrome" implicated. IT was a penalty for having such a great starting city, and the debt was nearly harmless. (I say nearly, because I'm sure that some high lvls, had to use the crapper and came back to HP and screamed at their millions of debt)

So basically what im saying is, back to the norm, and the only thing we got out of it was to watch the Zebu's Pets come crashing in once and a permanent change to the undead stones. :( The Zebu's were freakin cool though. :)

BRING BACK THE ORCS!!! WRITE YOUR GM!! PLEASE!! FOR THE LOVE OF CHAOS DO SOMETHING!!
