Paragon Studios Launches Hero-Con Web Site

As we've reported, the second annual Hero-Con event will be held from Oct. 24-25 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, Calif. In order to give fans more informations as the City of Heroes convention approaches, Paragon Studios has launched the official Hero-Con Web site. You can use the site to buy your tickets for $79 each and book your room at the Doubletree for the discounted rate of $89 a night.

The site has a section for Hero-Con's schedule of events that currently says "coming soon," as well as a FAQ page. You can read the full FAQ after the jump and head over to the official Hero-Con forum to discuss the convention.

What is Hero-Con?

Hero-Con is an annual event thrown by Paragon Studios and hosted by the OCR Team (Online Community Relations Team), that celebrates the players of our massively multiplayer online game, City of Heroes®! Hero-Con is only in its second official year of existence, but we hope to see it grow and flourish with each passing year – just like the game itself.

The purpose of Hero-Con is three-fold. First, to allow and encourage our players who have met and formed relationships in-game the opportunity to meet and interact live-and-in-person…or make brand new friends simply by coming to Hero-Con! Also, to make accessible to our customers the individuals who make the game-- the City of Heroes® Development Team (Designers, Producers, Artists, Engineers, etc.) Finally, it’s all about information and fun! Information about the game comes in the form of special announcements and development panel discussions while fun is achieved through a variety of social events, competitions, contests and other activities!

Where does Hero-Con occur?

Hero-Con is held each year in the San Francisco Bay Area– which is where Paragon Studios is located. The city and hotel may or may not change annually, but the general area of California will probably remain the same for the time being!

For 2009, we’re happy to be holding our event at The Doubletree in San Jose on October 24th and 25th (with special activities occurring Friday night, the 23rd) and you can book a terrific room there for a discounted price of only $89 a night!

What else do I get for the price of admission?

Here’s what your registration gets you:

  • A Goody Bag (which includes an Official Hero-Con 2009 T-shirt, a digital in-game item, and more!)
  • Entrance into the Welcome Address and Grand Banquet Dinner/Awards Ceremony
  • Direct interaction with Dev Team and Community Relations Team Members.

Can I dress up as my hero or villain for Hero-Con?

Of course you can dress up (as long as your costume is not risqué or offensive in any way)! In fact, we will be holding a costume contest the night of our big banquet. You can wear whatever costume you like at Hero-Con itself, but please note that the costume contest will be “original” hero/villain themed, so if you want to compete…keep it original, hero or villain related and make sure you’re not dressing up as any trademarked character. Also – please leave any realistic-type weapons such as sharp wood, steel or anything else that could be seen as posing a danger to yourself or anyone else at home!

When Can I pick up my badge?

You can pick up your Hero-Con badge from 4-7pm on Friday, October 23rd and from 9am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday October 24th and 25th. Make sure to bring I.D.!

Can I bring the kids to Hero-Con?

Of course you can bring the kids – but they must come with an adult attached! No unsupervised minors please. Also, the registration cost for children is the same as that for adults at Hero-Con.

What if I need to cancel my registration? Can I get a refund?

To cancel your registration, please email your request to herocon@ncsoft.com. Please provide as much information that you registered with as possible. Refunds can only be issued before the close of registration which will be one day before the start of Hero-Con (subject to availability). After this time, we will not process any changes to registrations, cancellations, or refunds.

If you still have questions, please email the Hero-Con Team at herocon@ncsoft.com. We might add it (and the answer) to this FAQ!
