While it was stated back in April that Champions Online would be released for PCs on July 14, Cryptic has announced the release date is being pushed back to Sept. 1. Bill Roper, the game's design director and executive producer, said the delay is due to the fact that Cryptic wants to release a solid game.

"Through our constant dialogue with our vocal and supportive community of beta testers, we quickly realized that in order to implement certain features that we all considered important the development of Champions Online would require more time. So that's what we're going to give it," Roper said.
