Launch FAQ

Sony has posted a FAQ for the launch on their main page. If you are having any connection issues or other problems, you may find them useful. I reprinted them below: Q: I am having frequent connections issues? What seems to be the problem? A: Customers with a router who may be experiencing intermittent connection issues or frequently dropped connection issues while playing may have a router that contains out-of-date firmware. Check out our Routers Page for direct links to the routers that have been tested by the EverQuest Online Adventures team in order to update your router firmware. Q: How do I sit? A: You don't need to. Players used to playing EverQuest on the PC, or other RPG games, know that there are usually faster ways to rest and recover after battle. Usually, this is done by sitting or lying down. Well, in EverQuest Online Adventures, your in-game persona is always ready for battle! Sitting is not necessary to catch your breath; simply standing still will accomplish the same goal. Additionally you can make use of Food to reduce your downtime. Each character will start off with 20 food items in their pack for the very purpose of recovering health in-between battles. Use the food to receive a heal over time effect. Keep in mind that the effect of food will disappear the moment you engage in combat, so use your food wisely. For more information about reducing downtime and using Food and Water see our Game Play Guide food and water section. Q: How do I meditate? A: You don't need to. Much like the question above about sitting, many players who are familiar with EverQuest for the PC are used to meditating to recover their Mana faster. In EverQuest Online Adventures, you don't need to do this. If you want to increase the rate your Power comes back to ready yourself to cast more spells or use more abilities in your next battle, join forces with a class that has an ability or spell that does this, or, between battles, make use of Water to increase Power Regeneration. Q: I have a Game Card, how do I use it? A: An EverQuest Online Adventures Game Card is used as a method of payment for the subscription fees to play the game. During initial account set up, you will be asked how you wish to pay for the subscription. You can use either a Credit Card or a Game Card. Keep in mind that the Game Card will not be consumed nor a Credit Card charged, until after the 30 day free trial period is over. But, you will still need to enter this payment information to complete your account set up. To use the Game Card during initial account set up, simply choose Game Card when asked how you want to pay the subscription and then enter the Game Card number. For additional information about using a Game Card, please see our Game Card page. Q: I initially set up my account to use Credit Card billing, but I want to change to use a Game Card. How do I do this? A: At the log in screen select Manage Your Account, rather than log in, and follow the instructions to change your billing. Choose Game Card and enter the Game Card number. When the billing system goes to renew your subscription (either at the end of your 30 day free trial period or the end of your currently paid subscription) it will automatically switch over to the new Game Card. Q: I wanted to use a particular name for my character and I can not get it when I go to make my character. Why can't I have the name I want? A: EverQuest Online Adventures only allows unique character names. That is to say, on any one server, there can only be any one person with one specific name. No two people can have the same name on the same server. Also, names go through a "bad word" filter and it could be that the name you want is being rejected because it contains a word or combination that is in violation of our Naming Policy. You might scroll through the suggested character names to give you ideas for your character name. Q: I was contacted in game that the name of my character was not acceptable. What is this all about? A: All character names must conform to the EverQuest Online Adventures Naming Policy. Please review our Naming Policy for full guidelines on selecting a name for your character.
