ok, Achilles amuses me. I've never seen a 8 year old with a job. Anyway, get over it, every game you play where they do changes requires downtimes. It's part of them putting new things in and making sure it works right. I'm sure the release of CoP has something to do with all the fixing that's going on. If you are going to cry about it, leave...or...go outside of something...there is a real world.

3)Log back in immediately afterwards.....only to find out som,e information "may" have been corrupted and I now need to "re-install" FFXI again......40 minutes later having complete the reinstallation I found out this little gem....I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD STUFF FOR 10 HOURS BEFORE I GET TO PLAY AGAIN!!!7 hours later I get the lovely PO-1010 code that says I got disconnected from the server.....>_<.......
4)Ima give it one more try tonight,If it doesnt work,or I find out that my characters have been damaged or erased, I refuse to play this game anymore. As much as I love the FF series it can kiss my rear end.

godhead. 1st off u didnt really haveto reinstall ff xi again... u just wasted time . it always says data may have been corrupted from improber log out or power failure, trust me i had it enough times wher ei dont even worry. 99% nothing is corrupted so chill man. only reason u got the POL error cus every one was proly D/L the update as well and that hogs up the servers bandwith quick. so just keep trying. no big deal updates happen,.

I really hate to be the one to say this, but perhaps you should try playing FFXI on a real machine. (I.E. a PC) You managed to log on to this website with one.

I know that sounds hateful, and discriminatory, but I think you are SERIOUSLY overestimating the capabilities of your PS2.

Granted, the program and service should work equally well across all platforms, but I guarantee you there is a difference in machine. - Across several services and games, I have heard nothing but complaints about the PS2's capabilities.

dude stop hating on the PS2 players man its nonsence maybe some people cant afford a a pc nd or upgrades to play the pc version, and if your ps2 locks up is proly your playing it to long with out a rest period, a tip, make sure your ps2 isnt in a confined space. because poor air cerculation can cause quick over heating samething with a pc. i got my consoles on there own coolin stations i built using some plexi glass and some neon pc fans but thats if you want to be fancy Meh ^_^

Unfortunately you misread my post. I'm not hating on PS2 PLAYERS.

The equipment is just inherently flawed. Is there something wrong with bringing that to light for someone who may not know the difference? No.

At times one must postulate provocative statements in order to show someone realities they have known all along but were too oblivious to envisage.

Please read a post in it's entirety and try and actually understand the words before you cry fanboy. I play on PS2 also.

Another 4 hours? I've been trying for 2 weeks to get help for my AF3 NM fight. I finally got it arranged where it will take place tonight, but now it's during the maintenance. Two weeks down the drain for an unscheduled maintenance. That plain just pisses me off.

Blame it on a user yesterday!!
# Sep 14 2004 at 2:46 PM Rating: Decent
I was one of the first people to log onto FFXI yesterday on the Cerberus Server.

I did a /sea all a little later... 16 people came up. I was the only one in Bastok for about five minutes. Then, this guy logs in next to me, and we start talking.

He tries to initiate a quest and asks me why it keeps freezing his computer. I say that I don't know. He calls a GM, and I tag along with him so I can see the GM.

Turns out the problem was this thing with the NPC Marin. Heh, he probably caused immediate action to be taken on this... lol

ai yai yai, Achillas, why don't you go outside and read or something, instead of posting another grammatically lacking rant every hour? It's a very simple matter that Square Enix simply has to look at time frames and decide what will affect the least amount of people. So we have to deal with it. Furthermore, there's little sense in getting upset about it in the first place, and *especially* on a forum. If it bothers you so very much, complain directly to Square Enix instead of screaming at a bunch of innocent players. From a fiscal standpoint, you'd do the same if you were trying to make a successful company, I'm afraid. Anyway, I'm going to study now.

You people are ridiculous, complaining about not being able to play a game for the better part of a day. So what if you're a paying customer, there are obviously thousands of other people who are affected by this but can cope with it by simply... doing something else.

If you don't like it, excercise your right as a customer and stop paying for the game.

Ive been on since december, and EVERY single update has come on American Playing Time, and NOT on JP playing Time... do they pay more? NO of course not, or they'd complain about that. OH wait they outnumber us =P junking 1/3 of your customers 100% of the time to appease 2/3 most of which is made of people with more then 1 character (meaning their numbers are inflated, we have just as many players) and arn't on Titan as much as NE players are (as far as all my late night playing has noticed), is retarded and frankly a heavy amount of favortism, meaning we arn't getting our fair amount of attention (ie: ******** us on having JP with millions of gil when weare just starting, giving them the expansion days before us - continueing their edge, and holding us back by having all the updates taking place on our time). Joyfully when the next best MMORPG comes along loyalty wont be there for SE. Maybe if I was pampered in Japan I might not care and be a selfish jerk. So whats next for the europeans? Will they get screwed more then us like we are more screwed then the JP players? Doing the update on JP time just once isn't enough, they need to rotate it so evryone feels it at times instead ofdumping it on NA players consistently. The mentality seems to be: If you don't like it quit, well we all pay for it, and we have a right not to like it, if JP don't like the idea of sharing updates then they can quit =P I don't want favortism, just fairness, updates ae a part of Online Play, but it is obviously intentional WHEN they are doing it.

Personally speaking, if your complaining about update or maintance that Square is doing let me offer you the following scenerio.

1. Square Fixes nothing
Player levels up to 75.
Server/Software crash due to bug
Player logs back on.
Player is lvl 74.

2. Square does not backup data before maintenance.
Player: OMG my character is gone. OMG OMG. etc. etc. etc.
This is one reason why an update can span hours.
Just so you know RO was like that. Heh.

3. Files are not verified before download.
Player 1 hacks software.
Player 1 downloads patch.
Player 1 has some special ability over other players.
Highly unlikely that FFXI does actual game data (gil, damage, hp) on the clients computer but just an idea.

4. Update on Japanese prime time.
This will not happen mainly because most of their customers are from Japan. NA < Japan as wierd as it may sound. So, if you own a company who would you like to disappoint more?

These are just my two cents. BTW the update is great I like it.

Yeah, I played RO back in Alpha/Beta/Beta2 stages, even when it went commercial it was still horrible for the first year about maintenance/backing up.

This is by far better service than Gravity LLE USA. >_>;

Gives me more time to study for AP classes too n_n/

If they are on PST and using a 24-hour clock, simply add 1 to the last digit and drop the first digit. In this case, it is 10-17 PST, so add 1 to the last digit to make it 18, drop the first digit to make it 8 PM.

Yeah, I really think that they should change the times they start server maintenance. I was planning on either going on and farming or getting an exp party for a few hours, but they had to take the servers down for this. Yes, I know that there's going to be server maintenance during my prime time. But they really should do it during Japanese prime time sometimes as well (which would be when I'm asleep). That's why a lot of people (myself included, somewhat) think SE is giving favoritism to the Japanese players.

As for having a few glitches, get over it. No one's perfect. I'm pretty sure a few of your English papers had minor grammar errors even after all the revising you did. Why didn't you make sure it was perfect? Either because you ran out of time, or you thought it was perfect. Same thing here.

Finally, as for nomad moogles... they were probably added to the new towns that COP adds.
