New Year Rivalry: Moogles vs. Goblins?!

The Starlight Celebration was a resounding success. Thanks to your help, the cities of Vana'diel are overflowing with cheer, and smiles have returned to the children's faces. The moogles, however, seem unusually glum in contrast to the joyful atmosphere. "There weren't supposed to be so many of them searching for the cards, kupo..." "Well, we can play that game, too, kupo..." The chocobo-riding Goblins frantically searching for something outside the city walls appear to be the cause of the moogles' mood. Try talking to a gloomy moogle and see what you can do to help! How to Participate: The moogles have cleverly hidden seven types of Tenshodo trading cards all over Vana'diel and challenged the Goblins to find them. Try checking the areas of "Overturned Soil" and collect the cards before the Goblins do! Checking the "Overturned Soil" as a party will increase the number of cards found at one time. Gather as many friends as possible, and help each other collect all seven types! Once you have a full set of cards, trade them all to the moogles to receive your reward! Event Areas: West Ronfaure South Gustaberg East Sarutabaruta La Theine Plateau Konschtat Highlands Tahrongi Canyon Jugner Forest Pashhow Marshlands Meriphataud Mountains Batallia Downs Rolanberry Fields Sauromugue Champaign This event will run from December 26, 19:00 (PST) to January 9, 19:00 (PST).

you only get the 6 cards for a full group but you get to share the spoils of your parties.
true getting the Roll for a rare card can be hard but the common and uncommon cards get gotten quickly, Laboomsikashod's suggestion would make it that much easier to get a complete set.

The mog item has one storage and earth element, that changes the elemental balance of your mog but does not overrideit. I've had experience (2 beds) for about 4 months and nothing I've added since has changed that to include 3 town x-mas trees and that card thing. my question is can any one give mw the name of all the cards I have gotten 4 cards and alot of dupes that vanish (solo) so far. Thanks

As mentioned already numerous times, the cards are:

First Combo of 3: Benten, Bishamon, Daikoku
Second Combo of 3: Jurojin, *********** Hotei
Combo of 7: all the above, plus Ebisu

Here's a question: do you have to have a Chocobo license to participate in the event? I'm only @16...;_;

No, you don't need one. You will have a hard time getting an Ebisu card if you can't get to Jeuno though.

I got the Ebisu card three times in East Sartabaruta. Twice with a party and once alone. I got all three at the most northen yag camp right near where you go into the throngi canyon. I just stood there and waited and hunted crawlers, it spawns about every 10 to 20 minutes all around the camp -- and across the road from it is a good place to solo if you chose too. I got all seven cards there, complete sets 3x. Takes work but can be done as of Dec 29th...i did my final 7 set today.

One tip on the upturned earth... make sure you are very close range before you hit the button otherwise the worms will bind you and take the cards. Don't try and run from a far distance and hit it the x button. You'll just lose it and get bound by a worm. Get very close.
Teleport Scarf

Does anyone know if the teleport scarf will recharge itself afther the 10th time? I was in a party of 6 in East Sarutabaruta and got all the cards in 20-30 mins expect the Ebisu card. I found that the overturned soil spawns in the same area within 5-10 mins. Hope these help.

As a rule of thumb..

Any enchanted item that has more than one charge can be assumed to NOT recharge. Perfect example.

The Belts that are given out come with Enchantment: Costume and have 1/1 charge. This is usually referred to a permanent enchantment. When you use it (or the one on Treat Staff II or Dream Hat +1, coincidentally) the charge does not go away.

As far as I've seen, the only items that have permanent charges are Seasonal / Special, Rare/Ex items such as the ones listed above.

Any other Enchanted object usually has a limited number of charges, and does not recharge to the best of my knowledge. If it does not have a permanent charge, you can safely assume (and be correct) that the charges do not recharge. Tanks, Teleport Rings, etc.

Proof, you say? Sure. Trick Staff II had 10 charges with Enchantment: Warp. I used the last charge just a few days ago, and boom. Charges: 0/10. The staff is useless, and only sitting in storage because I want to see if SE will be kind enough to recharge these items at the same time next year. I highly doubt they will because the coding for such an implementation would be ridiculous, but now I'm just rambling off point and loathing the fact that I have to work on two hours sleep.

Hope this helps.

Ebisu is rare in all low level areas (ronfaure though it is easier there than other low levels, sarutabarta, gustaberg), Hotei is hard to find in Saru and Bastok

You need (from my testing),
3 cards for the first set = bamboo thing which gave my fishing moghancement
3 cards for second set = belt for town
7 cards including ebisu for third set = teleport neck piece
I've done them all (well, in one card I will have), this is what I've found...

Close...

Belts stats are:

Rabbit / Worm / Mandoraga belt - Rare/Ex
Enchantment: Costume (1/1, :30 (24:00:00, :30))

Which, in laymans terms means that the belts can get used, once per RL day (24 hr span) and give you the costume (of the name of the belt).

The Necklaces / Scares are different.
Kingdom / Republic Collar , Federation Scarf
Lvl 15 Def-unknown (sorry, forgot off top of my head) Enchantment: Warp (Chocobo stables, city of origin of Neckware). (10/10, :30 (24:00:00, :30))

Which means that you get warped, up to 10 times, back to the Chocobo Stables where you got the neckware. Usable once every 24 hours, 30 second wait timer when you equip.

Hope this helps! ^^

Yeah i saw Fablinix too. I was heading to Bastok through South Gustaburg and saw him pass by near the road. I wasin the small crater area inbetween vamp hill and the hill near lizzy spawn zone. Unfortunately i was on foot and i couldnt exactly catch up to him >.<
Dont know what the difference between him and the other Goblin riders are, but i would assume there are other "named" goblins in the other event areas^^

I talked to him...i saw him about 30 times in gustaberg...so I talked to him.
He said "I must find more cards though I still have no idea why" or something equivalent.
It made me laugh, but nothing important...

Most of the goblins I've seen are called simply "Goblin Riders," but tonight i was passing through South Gustaberg (north west of the lizzy spawn) and I saw a Goblin on chocobo named "Fablinix." I wasn't fast enough to talk to it, but has anyone else seen any chocobo riders that have actual names?

Hmmm. I went to one with Elemental Seal up and Slept the stupid worm. I then proceeded to Freeze and it DID move the bar... maybe 10%. Maybe an alliance of BLMs doing this over and over again could kill it...?

Question
# Dec 27 2004 at 9:59 PM Rating: Decent
Ok so far I know of only the 3 main belts worm, mandy, and rabbit. also the 3 stable belts.
But just like all of the other special quests where the harder you work at them then you get better items or +1 items so is there really any other items? if you do manage to find such a belt as leach or so on please let us know! ^^

Just got the mandragora belt. It's pretty nifty. Anyways, just a heads up, if you use it then go through a gate to another part of town, it wares off and you have to wait 24 hours to reuse it.

The best way to do this event is form a party of 3+ . One soil will put 3 cards in the inventory (cards depend on members of party). The first 3 you turn in you should get something you can put in your mog house then the next 3 it will be one of those belts which turns you into sandoria rabbit, bastok worm, or windurst mag. I don't think the worm one can move at all .

You don't need the transform item, you can forego that and just trade in all cards for the tele-town item.... too bad u can't sell them :/

Got a full in set in La Theine pretty easily. Hung out just north of the Craig between the two crevaces. I tried trading the full set of 7 on my first trade, and the moogle gave me back 4 of them even though he said "Oh great, a full set" and just gave me the bamboo thingy. So went back to La Theine got the other 3 again within 5-10 minutes and got the Kingdom Stable Collar.

So don't worry about over trading on the first one, or if you forget which ones the moogle asks for. If you try and trade full set, the moogle will just take the ones it requested.

Oddly enough, this does has something to do with a real-life holiday, as do the new greeting cards available from PlayOnline.

In Japan, it is traditional to give special cards to friends and family at the new year. This event is very much in the spirit of Japanese new year. There's also a card-writing tradition for the summer.
Neckware questions

The neckware is not a permanent charge (10/10) so my assumption is that they do not recharge.

The rare card for the Tharongi area is Ebisu, but you can fix that by heading to Rolanberry Fields. we had a 3 person party, and found all the cards except Ebisu in under FIVE MINUTES.

Then in Rolanberry, first dig with a full PT and we found four Ebisus.

A couple other things, not sure if they were mentioned.

While Goblins can check the 'Upturned Soils' from a Chocobo, PCs can not. In any way, shape or form. This does not, however, prevent you from checking for the location of Upturned Soils from chocobo, but it has sent Chocobo prices skyrocketing to around 1k around all crags at all times at the moment.

There are usually a couple of Goblin Riders per zone; if you pay attention to what they say, sometimes they can help you out. (Hmmm, need more cards... No more card around here... etc)

The neck belts are lvl 15. Not sure if htat was mentioned either.

Oh, and the Furniture gives Moghancement: Gardening.

Happy New Year all!
