More Info on the Reactivated Accounts Problem

This problem can possibly force all items to QL 1 when logging into the game with the old character. At this time. do *not* log into the game with characters that haven't logged into the game for 10 months of more. Characters affected by this issue will not receive item reimbursement.

All Servers are up

This just in from the log in screen: Greetings everyone! All servers are now up after the server side patch. While this update does not address all of the issues, we are also working on another update. We hope this update will be available sometime next week.

Fixing 14.8

Servers are down for a small up date, this from CZ at Funcom: Some tweaking has been done: Mobs are more suitable for the mission level, turrets have been nerfed a bit, and cameras and sentries are slightly less perceptive. Missions are also (on average) smaller, and the loot has been tweaked (you knew it was coming). These are just some of the things they are fixing/working on, you can get all the details here at the official bulletin board.

Known Issues with the 14.8

CZ has posted an update to the known issues with the 14.8 patch. They hope to have an update to the servers and clients next week to fix some of the issues. You can find the thread discussion here ----------------------------------- The list of changes for Friday looks like this: quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mission tweaks - Creatures will now be of levels more suitable for the level of the mission. - Supplies in missions have been tweaked, adding more diversity. Some items simply showed up a little too often. - Turrets have been tuned down a bit, and should no longer be almost certain death to many people. It's still advisable to be careful around them though. - Cameras, and the sentries they activate, are slightly less perceptive now. - Mission areas should on average be smaller now. - Two rooms containing unaccessible locations for chests and elevators have been removed from mission generation. Other changes - The XP reward boost from 14.7.10 for high level mobs has been turned on again. The new numbers were overwritten by the old ones by mistake. In addition, we forgot one major change in the build notes for the upgrade: - The quality level limit on implants has been raised from 220 to 250. Note that the skill requirements on these top quality level implants are often higher than you can currently reach. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We're working on a number of other things, and hope to have a client and server update next week. The reported issues for 14.8 are... (hopefully a complete list) Bugs - QL 200 Accellerated NCU requiring a QL 2 lockpick to make (doesn't exist) - "/" not opening the chat input anymore (varying reports) - Crashing when selecting a map (probable workaround in this thread) - Crashing when alt-tabbing from fullscreen mode to desktop, or when minimizing the AO window in window mode - Some missions are impossible to enter (first claiming you might have an old key, then reporting a server side error) - Lag when entering certain rooms in missions - Level 101-200 Augmented OT ring is one finger only (not intended, so hang on to those rings) - First-rate Emergency Treatment Laboratory doesn't blind - Exiting a mission while morphed and having a vehicle equipped keeps the morph form (explains the tiny flying cats) - Wrong name and description on nano clusters - Playshifting initiated by nanos (team grid nano, beacon warp) causes crashing - Savage Medusa is invisible - Speeches and Auras don't refresh when you sit down - Over-Equipped items de-equipping when you die (gathering info on this now) Tweaks - NPCs switch targets a lot in combat Not sure - Cameras following people (note that the sentries the cameras spawn look a lot like cameras) --------------------------------

Possible Problems with Custom Maps

CZ posted the following on the Official AO boards. Fix for the "crashing when selecting map" problem Your maps are located in this folder: \Anarchy Online\cd_image\textures\PlanetMap\ Each map is in its own subfolder here. The new Dovve map is in the subfolder "Dovves". The original map - or any custom map you use instead - is located in the subfolder "normal". If you have a custom map, you most likely have a backup folder where you put the original map, and it's when trying to select this backup map you crash. (If you have the same crash as me, that is.) Each map consist of a .bin file and a .txt file. The .txt file contains - among other things - the location of the .bin file. Open the .txt file in notepad or similar. The line with the .bin file location looks like this: code: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- File normal\PlanetMapGfxNormal.bin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now change the "normal" part with the name of the subfolder these map files are located in ("backup" in my case), save the file, and the maps selection should work properly. You might also want to add a name tag to the map - and any custom map you have - while your at it, to more easily identify them in the selection menu. To do this, open the .txt file for the map and add this line at the very top of the file: code: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name "The name of your map" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Use the .txt file for Dovve's as a reference if you want to make sure it looks correct. I hope that helped, and that people enjoy the new map system. ----------------------------------------- The thread containing the above information and a few bugs found in the 14.8 patch can be found here
