23 May Accounts Banned

We would like to report the termination today of multiple accounts held by players involved in the usage of third-party tools or cheats, or engaged in RMT (Real Money Trading) activities.

Based on the results of our investigation, around 3900 PlayOnline accounts were terminated while around 300 accounts were temporarily suspended.
Additionally, we have increased the number of mass bannings against certain PlayOnline violations in order to prevent illegal acts.

Details of the violations are as follows:

- Usage of tools that allow enhanced character movement.
May 10, Approx. 280 cases
May 23, Approx. 20 cases

- Usage of tools that circumvent game mechanics with respect to the timing of ability use, etc. in certain areas or at points where Notorious Monsters appear.
May 23, Approx. 150 cases

-Using cheats to automatically repeat a particular action.
May 10, Approx. 600 cases
May 17, Approx. 450 cases

- Accounts from people that were previously confirmed to have RMT connections, or that had violated the user agreements but re-subscribed to PlayOnline.
May 23, Approx. 950 cases

- RMT-related activity
May 23, Approx. 750 cases

- Instances of areas or monsters being monopolized by certain groups
May 23, Approx. 1000 cases

The termination of these accounts has led to the removal of approximately 6.4 billion gil from circulation.

We would like to remind players that as well as adversely affecting game balance, the use of third-party tools or cheats can also have consequences that are not immediately obvious, such as introducing damaging viruses, and comprising the security of private account details. Usage of third-party tools will not be tolerated within FINAL FANTASY XI, and we will continue to severely penalize any players found to be in violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

As we continue to ensure a fun and balanced environment for FINAL FANTASY XI, we hope that our players enjoy the game as it was intended and take care to avoid involvement in activities that violate the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

1 week ago I noticed the prices of carrots starting to creep up a few thousand gil. I then said, "WHoops, prices going up, SE is gonna have to nuke some cash cause we can't have that happening." I am glad to report that once again the value of what I farm and garden will be dropping back into the 'I'm so poor' catagory.

Imagine if the US goverment destroyed 6 billion in cash every 30 days. Yeaaaaah.

anexample would be an hnm holding an nm like King.V just so that members can get there if it would take them an hr of doing so...or better yet. Holdin the damn scorp for hrs so that it is in a more convineint time slo for members.

its illegl to hold for that long 2 mins is nothing and i doubt 15-30 is either.
Get it right x.x

OK - SE HAVE NOT SAID ANYTHING ABOUT MONSTER HOLDING!!!!!!

THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT MONSTER MONOPOLISING!!!!!

An example of this (i think) is the rmt in sky who camp the god trigger items then /sh in Aht Urghn for 'Byakko's Haidate Do you need it, /tell' & want 5M for it.

There is nothing wrong or really illegal about monster holding. It happens, and its all part of the game. SE put rage timers on HNM's to reduce this and as a counter measure to it, so there is only a certain amount of time you can hold for.

Get it right x.x

you are misguided my friend you hold an nm for more than an hr you can have a GM called on you. look it up in the damn tos..

You need to get it right.

A japanese linkshell (endgame) camps a secific endgame NM. If it's outside of thier pop time or time the members are not available, what they door any hnm would do id make sure its in a time more convineint for members which is holding. and can be considered monopolizing. please shut up.. you do notknow ****.

it's illegal to do this, same as monopolizing.

Poor little SE, They get so mad at people holding monsters, wait correct that the players get mad cause they want the NM and somone is kiting it or whatever. SE only does this stuff to keep you guys happy. Big deal about monster holding, big deal about RMT, and big deal about the rest of it. its an endless cycle they ban rmt regroups and comes back they ban rmt regroups and comes back they ban and on and on.
Sigh!

The thing didn't even say 'monster holding', it said monopolizing, which is not necessarily holding mobs.

Gilsellers held a NM on my server...and the GM said it was fine because they are damaging it...
what are they damaging it with you may ask?
everyone was using H2H even mages...ect yet the GM did nothing
You can't get in trouble for holding... Unless your retarded and can't cast bio 1 or melee it w/ H2H or...occasionally nuke it..

I think "monster holding" is similar to pornography in the way you define it.

It cannot be clearly defined to a black and white issue, but you know it when you see it.

The example of holding Ulli, or any other pop nm, so others cannot pop it is a good example. Just think if some GS rdm/nin with w legs decided to kite Genboob indefinitely... no one would ever get to even warp to his island, never mind pop him. Think of the mess that would cause if no one could get his highly sought after Kabuto! O.o

But seriously, crap like that happens, and that is monster holding...

You mentioned about gardening. In the article relating to monster holding. I guess I have been lucky so far. I have not experienced this problem yet. I know I have seen the same players hanging around the areas where mobs spaun maybe that is what everybody is calling Monster Holding I don't know. Sorry for my ignorance. But, back to Gardening. I don't know if I have the exact answers u are looking for but if u still interested give me a buzz. My plan is at least working for me and I am making a profit. I like Gardening because it is a way i can be moving foreward on making money and not have to stay on line. Garden grows while I'm off lvling or just afK.

"Holding" for a few min is not a problem issue. This is more for HNMs and Claiming and Kiting for something like 15 Minutes of longer.

I would say you only need to worry about this if you are going to be holding mobs for 10 min. or longer. If it is a heavily camped NM then chances of getting reported for it is greater.

It relates to holding the NM's such in case in sky Ulli so that no one else can pop him to get stone for god fights... Or just holding any NM that prevents others from having a chance to kill it.

From what I understand if you claim a mob to manipulate the ToD or claim an NM and hold it until backup arrives by kiting or something you can be questioned by a GM.
