Is it just me or does it look like the Aht Urgan city could be a player nation (like that of Norg and Rabao seeing as they have higher lvls surrounding them)? <_<

It kinda looks like a Jeuno to me.

From all that I've seen it seems that the CSR's are going to be more supportive which is cool. Everyone's tired of RDM's anyways I guess lol. j/k all you RDM's out there. I wonder what kind of SJ it will make for RNG and RDM though... What, if any, mp are they going to have?

I wish they could introduce a job that deals with mechanical stuff like various guns/cannons/rockets/robots like an engineer.

ok why not have the Cyborg type person like in FF3 on the SNES. Also why not add the Mech robots to ride as opposed to the Chocobo's. make them an invention of Cid of Bastok. could spawn a great story line there
Mystic Knight
# Jan 27 2006 at 1:40 AM Rating: Decent
I'm still hoping they bring us Mystic Knight and Possibly Dancer. Why the hell did do people want a Pirate anyway >.> (this is only an opinion. As an FF Fanboy I'd rather see more old jobs remade for the game but oh well)

Also, Male Mithra. I wanna be a hawt sexy lion already >.< (no fair that the ladies get all the attention lol)

Now from the pictures, the need to creat seperate AF armors for Genders. To give the females the same outfit of the males is a bit lame. the female pirates could have some totally different pirate suit...

As for Parrots, maybe make it a Neck item,

Parrot -3 Chr, +3% Accuracy, +2 - 5% HP ??

We finily get Blue Mage and now this Corsair...but where are Mimes and Gunners? Lol, yes, yes many ppl didnt like FFX-2 but I loved the Gunners and the Alcemists! But truely there are not to many classes left to add. We are at want after this 13 or 14. Most ppl dont do more then 2 or 3 all the way then just to Dyn from then on. Wonder what this means for those ppl trying to get all thier jobs to 75 and get that hat I've heard about giving +10 to all stats. I guess we will see.

You don't have to get all of the jobs to 75, you just have to beat Maat with all of the jobs, which means at least 66.

Eh, they shouldn't limit themselves just cos some sadists wanna destroy their real lives and get every bleedin' job to 75. I'd rather they focused on making the game even more fun for people with some semblance of sanity. (No offence to anyone with all jobs at 75 :D. Well... )

But anyway, you're just being greedy now. :P And it does look like there's room for a few more jobs on the website, tho it'd be kind of odd for them to add like four in one go. Odd, but cool. :)
Plundering

So we're supposed to focus on guns with this class? Perhaps create a cutlass or swashbuckler for the fans?

Also, it seems they have three empty slots for other jobs. ^^ It doesn't look like they're missing much from the old games tho... Mime anyone?

A few posts down or up (Beats me how this one works >.>) some one mentioned FF7. There actually was a person with a gambler limit break. Cait Sith. And yes you could kill your whole pt if you got the wrong slot combination >.>

Just a fun thought to a class that looks kinda cool. I am hope that it falls into the pt support class myself. There already a ton of solid damage dealer classes out there. Now if they made another healer class and tank class we'd all be set.

1st thing I thought of when I saw the AF (I'm guesing its AF) for Corsair was the Puffy Shirt Episode on Seinfield.

What about a decent cutlass ? A heavy curved swooshy blade for making a real mess. Perhaps fairly high delay but quite devastating, between a normal single hander and a Greatsword.

Dual wield, but limited to only a dagger class weapon for the second one ? The proverbial pirates dagger betwixt your teeth as you swing aboard a new prize with your cutlass in one hand, the rope in the other.

A throwing knife called a Bootknife ?

It would also be nice if you could use the butt of your gun as a striking weapon, which is exactly what you could and did do when you'd emptied the shooty end into a hapless sailor.

The hexagun sounds interesting, to me it sounds like its going to be what a Crossbow is to a Bow. In other words, rapid fire, but low damage. Which will be quite an ugly prospect in terms of gil... as a Ranger, I don't need any additional reason to go through a truckload of nice expensive bullets... I just hope the cumulative damage/effectiveness is good.

I also hope the CSR guns are available to RNG, some tasty de-buffs would be nice to give back the ability to solo as a Ranger effectively.

Methinks there will be alot of benefits to having CSR subbed to RNG. I'll certainly be one of the first guys on the boat across to Aht.

Some more whimsical thoughts :

'Scurvy' - Curse type de-buff
'Plankwalker' - drown
'Fanned Hammer' - empty your hexagun into one target - six rounds, cowboy revolver style, like Sidewinder but cooler
'Yardarm' - choke (hang from the yardarm)
'Keelhauler' - rasp and drown in the same debuff
'St Elmos fire' - shock (or conversely a buff which gives regen or refresh et al)
'Seasick' - VIT down
'Landlubber' - AGI down
'Beached' - slow and DEX down

'Gizzard Slash' - weaopnskill, dark based, does a base damage and then the target slowly bleeds to death, losing 3-5hp per tick for a given period of time, linked to the TP level at the time it was used

I hope CSR's also get a bonus against the boney pirates that sometimes board the Selbina/Muhara ferry...

Also, it would be great to have a ship based ballista style fight, one party defends the vessel, the other tries to board and control it.

Collect something like 'Pieces of Eight', which equate to beastmens seals. Collect enough to pay passage aboard a pirate ship. You then take a run out onto the high seas to pillage a fat merchant ship. Basically a ship based BCNM.

Implementation wouldn't be that hard, we already have a ready made arena, in the way of the Ferry and airship. A few cutscenes, a few NPC's, and a squad of goody-two-shoes player characters to slaughter, (who sign up garrison style to defend the ship).

Very good ideas. I thouroughly enjoyed the plethora of options you introduced. Many of them I think would be nice editions especially the garrison and ballista ship-based fights. CSR and BLU are the only true confirmed job additions so far right?

haha great idea's, i liked the one about being able to hit enemies with your gun also. Reminds me of the WoW artbook(a good one) where the guns had knives and such on the end or handle. Made them look painful even at close range.

I had a little theory that maybe the way to these new areas (and, inevitably, this new job), was through that tunnel in Norg? I'm not that far on in the game as it is, so if there's already a use for it then I'm obviously wrong.

It just seems like it would make sense - Norg is pretty piratey as it is, and it's on the the right side of the map (the new areas are to the East). Of course, seriously outdated jp players (if such a thing exist) without Zilart aren't able to get to Norg (*I think*) so... maybe there's be alternate routes.

Ok, people tend to go speculation mad with this kinda stuff so I'll shut up now. Just wanted to get it in writing in case it turns out to be right. :D

Also, if this has been said a million times before, I apologise, but I don't manage to read every thread in every board every day. :)

it would make sense, yeah. Norg for one side, and the other through that hidden passage by the AH in Kazham, except one thing, Those both Require Rise of the Zilart to be installed. I think 97% of players have it installed [it was sold seperately in Japan like CoP was for us].

Would SE Mandate all new players to have those installed to unlock the new areas? That's the real question, If so it's more of an expansion on Rise of the Zilart than on Final Fantasy XI

if no Zilart is installed, then perhaps you can take the ship from the Tenshodo headquarters in Jeuno, problem solved

its prolly going to be the first place I go to try to get passage East.

I suppose also, both Norg and Kazham are fairly out of the way, especially the former. But then, when the world gets as big as it will be, maybe this will become kind of inevitable.

It just seems like it would be a waste otherwise. :D

Um for those that don't know Corsair = Gambler

In case all you gambling adicts havent' figured it out, the Corsair job IS the Gambler job. SE went with "corsair" because "gambler" has more negative conotations in western culture. But basicaly with "luck" based support abilities, this is the gambler.

um heads up to all you melee adicted players: this is intended to be a pure "support" class - a la red mage and bard. The ranged attack will not be as powerfull as the ranger but will apparently have buff and/or de-buff abilities

Should be amusing as the effects may be fairly random :P
Tifa?

Don't forget tifa from ff7... she wasn't a pirate but her limit break was somewhat luck based >.> Maybe it'll be similar to that?

Actually, SE said Corsair is basically a Gambler, but the name "Gambler" didn't translate very well to us, so they called it Corsair. I'm thinking it will be like BRD, Gambler, RNG (only in the fact they use guns, CSR's aren't as powerful as RNGs), and maybe a healer mixed into one.
