A large patch was implemented today. Grab a coffee for this one. ================================== *** Headlines *** ---------------------------------- - Plane of Time Instancing! - Plane of Time has been fully instanced. Every raid that enters the zone will now get its own instance of the zone. - New Tutorial! - A new tutorial is now available, featuring new art, new models, new quests, and a new player experience that will take you from level 1 to level 10. - New Newbie Armor Quests! - New armor quests pick up where the tutorial leaves off, taking players from 11 to 20. - You can now invite players to your group across zones. We have enabled the ability to use the /invite command with a players name to allow you to invite someone that is not in your current zone. - "Auto Consent Group", "Auto Consent Raid", and "Auto Consent Guild" buttons have been added to the options window; when checked, your group/raid/guild will automatically be given consent to move any new corpses you drop. *** Items *** ---------------------------------- - Ogre Femur Club is now monk and beastlord usable. - The tier1 and tier2 quested breastplates in Omens of War now have click effects that are usable from inventory. - The Rod of Mystical Transvergance and Summoned: Modulating Rod now both have a 5 minute item recast timer. Previously, spells with fixed amount of hate assigned to them would disregard hate focus effects. - Fixed the issue with Wrath of the Wild that caused it to last until a rune expired. *** Tradeskills *** ---------------------------------- - Added a minimum chance to gain a skill up on many of the Dragons of Norrath cultural tradeskill recipes and many of the Omens of War augmentation recipes. This will make it easier to gain an increase in skill when doing these recipes in most cases where the character has a high skill. - Some Velium weapons can now be converted into small Velium bars by smiths. You will need to use the Velium Smithy Hammer in order to break down these weapons. - Speckled Pine Fruit can now be foraged. - Palm Leaf can now be foraged. - Added a recipe to create Rainwater Dressing. - Added a recipe to create Spiced Heartfruit Greens. - Midnight Stones and Sandstone Pearls can now be crushed in a Mixing Bowl, not a Mortar and Pestle. - Increased the stack size of Dragons of Norrath cultural Patterns and Molds to 200 (400 for wrist patterns and molds). - Caerlyna will now exchange Ice Cream Churns for tokens. - Added information to bag tokens that will tell the player some of the information about the bag they represent. *** NPCs *** ---------------------------------- - There is a new potion vendor in the Plane of Knowledge. They no longer require proof of dedication to their cause. - New merchants have moved into Lavastorm. - Some of the Ferans in Riftseekers will drop Softened Feran Hides more often now. - Some of the Ferans in Riftseekers will drop Quality Feran Hides more often now. *** Veteran rewards *** ---------------------------------- - The Veteran Reward buffs are now immune to being dispelled. - The Veteran Reward buffs will no longer freeze their timers in the guild hall. *** Optimizations *** ---------------------------------- - File caching has been enabled which should yield performance improvements, especially on lower end systems when dealing with the UI (opening/closing windows, loading a UI, ...). *** Exodus and Related Issues *** ---------------------------------- - The exodus bug where a player could possibly die during the small amount of time after the spell is cast but before they actually zone, should now be fixed. We did the best we could trying to reproduce the situations that have been described to us and they have been fixed in our test cases. Please let us know if you continue to experience an issue like this. - Spells such as Exodus, have a chance to fail which happens for each person that gets hit by the spell. This means each person has a chance to not get ported. If you fail to get ported, you now receive a message notifying you of the failure. - Teleport bind(AA) will no longer leave the caster behind. If the spell is successfully cast, then everyone will be ported. Previously the caster had a 2% chance to not port. *** Features Enabled for All *** ---------------------------------- - The raid window is now available to all players. - The LFGroup windows are now available to all players. - Line-art mapping is now available for all zones. *** UI *** ---------------------------------- - The Potion Belt will now remain visible after zoning (if it was visible before zoning). - The advanced display options window has been enhanced substantially. Please note that the Advanced Lighting option is for video cards that support 1.1 Pixel Shaders and above. Also note that the advanced lighting is still being tested with some of our known player hardware configurations. If you experience any issues with it on, please turn it off. Not all hardware combination have been verified to be fully functional. For those that can use it, check out how cool the lighting looks in some of the old zones like the commonlands with the NPCs and their spherical light influences. It looks great. - The help window has been merged with the petition window. *** Misc *** ---------------------------------- - You will no longer get experience back from a corpse whose rez timer has expired when using the Veteran AA Expedient Recovery. - The level restriction for entering the tutorial has been changed to allow level 10 and under. - Fixed an old issue with particles. If you had your client running for 10 or so hours, some particle emitters would start to show huge particles. *** Chat Channels *** ---------------------------------- - There are now system owned, persistent chat channels and players will auto join some of these channels. Players level 20 and under auto join the "NewPlayers" channel, over level 20 auto join "General" and a class specific channel, and there are continent based channels as well. Auto joining channels can be disabled under the options window. *** Pet Commands *** ---------------------------------- - The "/pet follow" command works properly again. - The "/pet report" command works properly again. -- The EverQuest Team

I Should think warriors should be glad that others can if need be pull the argo !

But it should only be done if needed !

Tank About to die Take the ARGO !

Complaining only gets Others Nerfed !

If The whiner stoped so that that where not spending time nerfing they may have time to work on fixing the winers class (THINK ABOUT IT)

You need to work on your english. First off, it is whiners, not winers. If that word even existed it would refer to one who makes wine at a winery. Also, if you are gonna put something in caps, you might try to spell it right or at least edit it. Argo?

Also, in my years of playing as various classes I have never once heard the statement "Tank about to die, take aggro" uttered once. If the mob has the tank that low in hit points that it is about to die, guess what, they don't leave that toon until it is dead. Why do you bother posting?

Furthermore, the reason warriors haven't been getting all the latest, greatest upgrades is because of all the classes, they have dumped the least amount of feedback to SOE. You can bet that will change. When was the last patch that addressed anything about the warrior class? Not in the last year.

You are a *****, at least the person who responded to my earlier comment had some sense about their game. My favorite saying by people is, "Hell, I can pull aggro off a warrior!" Yeah, so can my chanter. Yeah, and she can die right after that too.

Quit calling warriors whiners when you d-bags got all your extra special **** because you have been whining about this or that for years. "I can't tank as well as a warrior" was first, then it was "I can't heal as well as a cleric or even a druid". Hello, you are intermediate classes, and the original designers didn't intend you to do either as well as the one note classes.

Gonna start ******** that my cleric can't tank Anguish mobs, and wait for SOE to "fix it".

I think your comment on this person's English is very low, once you speak his/her native tongue as well as he/she speaks English you can comment on it, before that you would do well to be quiet.

How do you know what my first language is? Or second for that matter? And how do you know that their first language might not be English?

Alright, so maybe my grammar comment was a bit harsh. I apologize for it. My bad.

However, the point remains, the info on their post is wrong, if a tank is that low, he is not gonna get a break from the mob. And of all the classes, warriors have been ignored the most. And I get a annoyed reading all the peeps saying warriors are whiny, this coming from the squeeky wheels that have been getting the grease.

As a cleric, pallys annoy me more than help. They pull off aggro using nonstop stuns, and oddly most have a habit of saving their LoH for themselves (ironic coming from the selfless knight class). Granted, my experience is tainted, but be honest, how many of you chanters have taken a dirt nap because the pally kept stunning the mob that you were mezzing while it beat on your head?

To anybody I offended my bad. But don't give me that "whiny" crap when you are sitting there getting at least minor improvements here and there. When warriors have a 1HS that does 70 damage and a 30 delay, then cry me a river.

They screwed up the Veterans AA rez for me, I used to like that fact that I could leave corpses around until my vet aa rez popped and used it to 100% rez any corpses I had laying around. Now you need to do it within the 3 hour rez timer window, cant aa rez coprses anymore that are out of time for rez.

They said they would fix this from the time veteran rewards were put in. It simply isn't reasonable to have no downside to death whatsoever. The 3 hours is still very decent too, but to have all players of EQ leave all corpses and once a week gather all lost experience simply isn't a reasonable request.

Warriors did get screwed, have been screwed in the past, will continue to get screwed until they pull some stunt like Zerkers and not log on for a week.

Example #1: Unless the warrior has his utmost uber gear, it is likely that a pally or SK has almost as many hit points and armor class as they do. And with all their ways to generate hate they both hold aggro better than a pally. How does a warrior compete? They get lvl 70 and start getting their Anguish gear, oh that is real easy. See that happening all the time...

Example #2: Outside of main tanking, what job does a warrior get? Nothing, they don't pull faster aggro than virtually every other melee class. We are unable to heal ourselves, unable to do exceptional dps, unable to harm touch, and the list goes on and on.

Example #3: For a warrior to compete at drawing and keeping aggro they have to have a bunch of hate generating weapons. The most "readily" available costs 200K in the bazaar. And so while we fork over 200K for a Blade of Carnage, the pally or sk is over there with their damn near standard issue Blade of Disruption with even more stuns as it's proc. And why should a warrior have to rely on a proc to generate even a little hate?

Example #4: My favorite line: "Well, you get taunt." As do rangers, pally's, sk's, your mom, my mom, the next door neighbor..... "Well you get dual wield so you generate more damage." Wrong, our weapons usually do half the damage of a pally/sk weapon, we hit more often yes, but for a lot less. And damage doesn't really matter for a warrior if that pally is over there stunning nonstop, guess who will have the aggro.

Example #5: How many crap players do you see playing a pally or sk (particularly a pally)? About 3 of 4 are idiots, why is that? Because the class is so easy to play with all the abilities it gets that any ****** can play them and survive. I went on one raid with 3/4 pally's to Naggy. We had one cleric, and not a one of them had the sense to be secondary healers. Why? Cause they are all stupid. The class supports it.

Anybody who thinks otherwise is likely a pally or sk, and in the back of their mind is scared to have the job of main tanking returned to the place the original game designers meant it to be. At least until SOE started catering to all the "I want this, I want that" crap and ******** up the classes.

Fix it SOE, or I am gonna start playing Vice City and San Andreas again and forget about this game, you will probably keep ******* it up anyway.

The mark of a good warrior is being able to out aggro a knight class, and the mark of a good knight is letting the warrior hold aggro. If there is a warrior in my group, he is the tank, i may be a SK but I'm a SK who would rather not get hit. Sure, we have aggro spells, or in the case of pallys, stuns. But you guys have aggro discs coming out of your ***. Hell, if u are in a group with a SK and want aggro, ask the SK for an aggro modifier, i always give mine. Just cause u can't buy a BoC doesn't mean you are a horrible warrior, it just means you have to prove that you aren't. Knights get spells, but they also take penalties for it, lower AC, lower hp per sta, no dual weild, like 5 disciplines. You can't expect to, as a warrior, go prancing around popping off group heals, lifetaps, insta-nukes, and self shields, and still maintain the inherent benefits of your class. Besides when guild selection comes Warriors > Shadowknights, i would sooner cut my fingers off than have to MT Mata Muram

Your examples are rare indeed. Most SK's and pally's at the group lvl want to main tank to "show that they can". You are unfortunately a rarity, and probably a very solid player that understands the best role a class can fill.

And as for "aggro discs coming out our ***". You get one, and that one is not usable continuously like a pally stun or sk spell. The duration is 12 seconds, and the reuse time is 30 minutes. So I might be able to use it on one mob, but it hardly is "just running out my ***" and getting me aggro from ten counties. The truth is that warriors don't get a lot of ways to generate aggro. Our biggest advantage was in that we could sustain damage the best with our discs, and SOE just gave that away. So now we are back to owning a Blade of Carnage and a Bloodfrenzy.

SK's and pally's pull fast aggro, and should be used for pulling mobs off of casters. However, in the real world of grouping, it is that fast aggro and the ego of players that they decide to become the main tank.

And as for the Mata Muram example: Please note that in example #1 I addressed this. Until the high end raiding a warrior's gear does not get that much better than a pally or sk. Meaning they are not far apart in hit points or ac. It is sad that you have to be to GoD or Anguish lvl before they get separated. Because there are not a lot of guilds at that lvl. Maybe one or two per server. Tanks like Gster and Pimpy are just not the average, hate machines with the utmost hit points.

SSra is a nice place to start raiding, but not much separation of gear. PoP is pretty much the same, great gear at the Time lvl, but really only the DBotW gives any advantage as far as tanking control. And anything above that (GoD, OoW, DoN) I classify as high end raiding. And that is the only area where a warrior really starts to get gear that separates themselves. There is a long gap there, and it needs to be addressed with something other than giving pally's and sk's more abilities and better spells with every damn patch.

Just a heads up for everyone... this means that Breeze is better than Clarity until level 40. Since Clarity scales from 4 at level 26 to 9 at level 64. Also, according to Lucy, Breeze starts at 4, not 5.

The level 67 spells have been added to the spells you receive by turning in runes to Karsor. The 61 spells are on the DoN merchants. I believe the lower spells and disciplines are also on those merchants.

I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have DoN, because you're gonna spend plenty of cash buying crystals now. The price of ours has already doubled in less than one day.

No new spells for Rangers
# Jun 30 2005 at 8:09 AM Rating: Default
I see Rangers got left out for any new spells.

I would love to have a 500HP heal or a 700HP nuke (or even a DoT) for us mid-50s Rangers.

I'm not really complaining...if I wanted an easy character to play, I'd have picked something else. I think what makes this game fun is the fact that it is hard. It was a lot harder 2yrs ago, but young impatient players whined and now we single armor pieces that drop with more stats that entire suits of armor 2yrs ago. Who would have thought? I remember drooling over Ranger chest armor that had 35AC and a couple other minor +5 stats.

I'll just head back to my Prayer Shawl quest now, it is a wonderful addiction.
The Tanks that sank
# Jun 30 2005 at 3:18 AM Rating: Default
Why if warriors are supposed to be the big bad guys do they whine and cry like babies so much.
I have read here that low end Tanks are losing aggro to Pally's and SK's, maybe they aren't low end. Lots of classes have problems, Bards get nerfed the most and the hardest but I don't see them whine this much. They just find a different way to attack the problem and go on. I play a cleric and have to watch Druids and shammies get better heals and DSP and they rezz now too. What can I say, I just try to do my job better with what I get. Nuff said. EQ is still in my opinion the best game of its type going. You don't like, play solitaire.

I agree the warriors need to get some updates on are skills. Are whole job is to tank for a group and hold agro for the casters dont get killed. And with the last few patches I have seen the sk and pally has gotten upgrades. But nothing for the warriors.I was all ways a good tank in a group But now these days if I was a group looking for a tank I would get a sk or a pally because they can hold agro better than most low end tanks. And that is a shame in it self because I loved playing a tank and now Sony has made it very hard for me to find a group. And by the way I have a lvl 66 warrior So I do know what I am talking about he was my first toon on eq

I've gotten use to this and have tried to avoid the Esc Key ever since they made it drop your target when you press it. Just because I close a bag don't let me die and close the coffin lid on me. Please fix the Esc Key bug!

Warriors are built to take damage, SK's and Pally's just happen to be better in groups, i can tall you right now, if i joined a guild who wanted me to MT cause i can take off 25% dmg up to 10000dmg for 5 ticks i would be like "FOOK YOU GUYS". As you should have learned by now, it doesn't matter that quite a few classes can pull agro off a warrior. When the people in your groups can control their own agro i.e. NOT TAKING IT from the Mt of the group or raid, only then will you understand that the warrior class is still as pure as it was from the beginning.
Our job is to take the 5-6-7k hits from the big nasties. It's try that warriors mid level or even low geared 70's don't necessarily do alot of dps, with the correct weapons, aa's, skills, and augs you would be suprised the damage you can do.

I currently have about 880aa's, all skills maxed, using an anguish 2hander. My max damage in a single swing(with flurry's maxed and all offensive aa's) has been over 8k damage. Regular max crit is 1275, max crippling so far is 1889(both single hit). It took me quite awhile to really figure out that It's not that the warrior class is getting screwed, it's that the other classes that can get agro(same level and skill), don't know how to control it, and thus show their own lack of skill as a player.

Some time down the line people need to start thinking of the whole picture so soe doesn't just start throwing crazy **** on everyone blending them into part of every class in existance.

Oh and by the way, when that ranger pulls agro on a mob that hits for 5k, and weapon shield(if they had time to even click it) wears off, they may try to find a better way to control that agro going where it isn't meant to.
