I've had xbox since it came out xbox live for about 2 years now and i realy dont think it should get this game cause ive been playing ff11 on my ps2 for about a year now and its crowded enough with ps2 and pc users this will make a huge promblem if they are able to join are server and ill probably quit and pawn my ps2 and game's cause of this.

I just hope they keep the servers seperate... let all the XBox360 users have their own server. We already have enough people who don't know what they're doing...

If they end their PS2 support... let's just say that Square will lose a long time, loyal fan.

Please, I'm not that self-centered. The servers are crowded as it is. Now opening them up to a huge new influx of players who have, chances are, never played a game like this before?

In addition, everything I've heard on this issue brings up "improved graphics"... which, from my understanding, wouldn't be possible with the PS2 users on the server(i.e. PC users complaining about PS2's limitations holding them back).

Personally, I just see this as a lot of problems SE doesn't need to get into.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 18 2005 at 8:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) oh please, half the players in the game had never played an MMORPG before they just joined because it's Final Fantasy and they have to buy every rpg made by Square

Heh, two rate-downs at once for you, and a second in reply to my original post. Where did I mention MMORPGs as the type of game I was talking about? Hmm? Oh, wait, I'll answer for you! I didn't. FFXI is an MMORPG. But it's also an RPG. The latter is what I was refering to.

It looks like Square are trying to make some more money.
Not that many people will even bother getting FFXI for the X-box 360, as atleast 70% of people in America and Europe actually HAVE a PC with Internet.

As for the updated graphics, I doubt that.
They will just run smootheron the X-box 360, no more sugar looking sand in Valkurm!

Presides, since when does Microsoft develop, or get backing from developers of RPGs, Or MMORPGs for the X-box?
Never. (Maybe apart from Fable, XD)
You will just get more Car, Killing and Sports lovers expecting to get their favorite type of game and not expecting an RPG (when the 360 is released), which on the most part is alien to them.
(Not that I don't hate all FPS titles, Sports titles and Racing titles; theres just too many of them, and not enough solid RPGs.)
Anyway,
Enough ranting today, lol.

I have no clue what half of your post meant, mainly because it was worded so poorly. What I made out was you seem to think the XBox 360 is going to have the same graphics (textures, models, terrain, etc) as the PS2 & PC versions. This is completely untrue. Microsoft & SE didn't partner up to ship outdated graphical content. They're working together to make FFXI take advantage of the graphical power that the 360 provides. What kind of foolish decision would it be to release a direct port on a platform that can breathe new life into a great game? Besides, they have explicitly stated they are releasing a high-definition version for the 360.
Shoulda seen it coming

All us ps2 users should have seen the xbox thing coming since the new model ps2's have no ability to support the hard drive needed for ffxi. Any kind of a grpahics update, assuming you're wanting better and not just different graphics, would basically eliminate anyone playing on a launch ps2. I've locked mine up several times just trying to go through valkrum in a dust storm, and I won't even mention lower jueno.

Worrying about the xbox thing is kinda silly right now, that is like 5 or 6 months away at least.

Side note and more importantly, I can't connect to the lobby server as of this tuesday morning. It's not a big deal but I would like to log a mule in for bazaar purposes.

oh no, now there is a BIGGER pool to get morons from *cries* j/k j/k

Graphics update? Yes, please!!!!!!
It's about time we get some better graphic in this game, I don't see why the PC side wouldn't get it. My heart goes out to PS2 users.

You won't see the PC get better graphics because it would lessen the incentive for hardcore FFXI PC gamers to go out and purchase the XBox 360 primarly for the updated FFXI graphical content. It's all about marketing.
nooo!!

This is horrible, we will get all those Xbox players that think they are the best gamers and they will keep telling us how good halo is

FFXI On Xbox?!

This silver and gold account thing does sound about right. I see no reason for Microsoft to try and tax money out of people who play MMORPG's, they have a huge fanbase already with FPS and other sorts of games.

Maybe if they charge us for it, ffxi will drop its cost down to cover it, highly unlikely, but ya never know...

Or it could be that the Program for POL will run automatically once the CD is in and no xbox live is needed, we run it like a pc game. (I have a modded Xbox so connection to the internet is possible without Xbox live. But might be a little tricky, and probably will breka a few laws with M$. But I just hope we see more FF games on the xbox 360, they got my money for XI but man gimme 12.

There will be 2 parts of Xbox live. Silver and Gold.
Silver is free.. You can download maps and weapons and what not, While Gold allows you to play online. I dont know too much more about it.

Oh... sweet... mother... of... Final Fantasy in High Def with (hopefully) improved graphics on an XBox 360... and if I have to import a HD TV to germany, I will... I'm not really speachless... but... looking for a way to preorder that damn thing over here...

anyway, regarding XBox Live:

The XBox 360 will come with a -free of charge- XBox Live Silver account. You will be always online and reachable as soon as the console runs and is plugged into a router or online itself. This comes at no cost. Matchmaking and playing online games via the Live costs the usual fee, playing MMORPGs is supposed to be included in Silver as far as I know. So no extra costs.
FFXI on Xbox?!

Does this mean we will need to have Xbox live? Or can we still use our PlayOnline account?!
I dont know how much it would be worth it to have to pay for Xbox Live and Pol.
