is POL down now??? i keep gettin the error POL-0011 when i try to login

wow i cant beleive how long one update takes this is un beleiveable, all i want to do is lvl my char but no i cant cause there is a friggen update every other friggen day how r we suppose to play the friggen game with all these updates answer me that

But frankly ***** ups like this happen, it's part of life, we can't change it, despite what we say here.
All we can do is take things as they come and not take it personally...after all, thousands and thousands of people are doing the same thing.

SE needs to get thier act together. At over 550,000 unique members paying $15/month, SE takes in $8,250,000 each month. If they put just a little thought into it, they could create two servers dedicated to doing nothing but handing out updates via standard download from the playonline site. Free up the POL and FFXI servers for gameplay and make the downloads faster. I for one know the limiter my college throws on our gaming bandwidth. Downloading outside of POL would make things at a bare minimum 10x faster.

Then, there's the "DDOS attacks". Alright, I've heard DDOS this, DDOS that so many times from different people. The truth is that at least half of all the claims were always BS made up by the company saying they were attacked.

Alright, we'll say that, there's good odds that SE isn't just trying to make excuses and there is a real DDOS attack. Alright, you have IP addresses sending many large packets to the servers. Good, you have IP addresses, cut them off. It's easy to do, you are the server admins. Make an antivirus program to remove the specific little bug infecting people, and when POL sees "Oh, the bug is gone", it will let them reconnect. TADA! Fixed.

Seriously, SE and POL really need to get their act together. I had a friend call me up a few minutes ago that was talking about having our entire linkshell move over and play EQ2. EQ2!

I play Final Fantasy because I've liked it since FFI (Japanese). I don't want to switch over to Everquest. I hear got better graphics and better gameplay, but I like staying loyal to Square who brought me Final Fantasy and Enix who brough a great game series like Dragon Warrior.

Anyone curious what happens when WoW goes for a nasty downtime? Blizzard says "We're sorry and to make up for it, we will be crediting next month's account for any downtime issues." Ignoring the fact that Blizzard is already charging $15 and gives you something like five characters, that's something that should probably be offered by SE to make up for these downtime issues.

Well, as I said my friend suggested, my linkshell as a whole may end up moving over to EverQuest, then we can visit each others houses in game and laugh about all the people SE is going to lose.

Math time: My linkshell has roughly 35-60 people on it. We each have a minimum of one extra character or mule, some in excess of 6 extra. Let's say 45 people paying $15/month. That means SE will lose out on all of $675/month, or $8,100/year. Compared to the over $99 million per year that they make, it's nothing. They probably don't care if they lose us either.

They went to the trouble of offering those who left the game a free month to come back and be hooked on it again, but to their loyal customers, they give nothing. Why bring in old customers that already left once when you can't even keep your current customers happy.

If they don't shape up, by this time next year, the number of players is going to be down to 400,000 or less...Losing 150,000 players might make them think about this in the right light.

SE: "We're making $2,250,000 less than we did last year. Hmm...Maybe we should try inviting all the people who left back for a free month again...We don't need to fix the servers, they're running...most of...some of the day...Well, someone was able to log on this week...I think...Either way, we're still charging them full price, so what's the difference..."

Ok here is how I see this. SE get hacked, hackers want to close down SE, SE corrects all the problems the attacks cause. What i don't think the people who are saying 'Im going to leave this game' are realising is that by leaving you are in fact letting the hackers win, cause when people start to leave and SE don't make as much profit and are unable to correct the problems they will close down the whole thing. So don't leave, stick it out and im sure they will do there jobs and get it fixed. If they don't i think a good burning of SE headquarters could be arranged 3rd of May anyone??
