At the following time, we performed a version update of FINAL FANTASY XI. *The client software was also updated at this time. The client update will start automatically after logging back into FINAL FANTASY XI. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen. Thank you for your patience. [Affected Period] Apr. 26, 2005 20:00 (PST) *Maintenance completion time may be subject to change. [Affected Services] FINAL FANTASY XI [Important Update Details] The following issues were addressed and have been fixed: - An issue wherein the gamma setting would be reset to default after certain event scenes in the Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi or the Garden of Ru'hmet. - An issue wherein characters would not turn translucent while under the effect of "Invisible," "Tonko," etc. within the Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi or The Garden of Ru'hmet. - An issue wherein certain types of fish would fail to respond while biting the lure of specific fishing poles. ------------------------------------------------------------

2nd day of no morning log in and this time can't get past POL. At least yesterday I was able to get to my messages. :( I never see anybody post from Garuda server. This is still a good game when it's up and running. I subscribed to Linage II. That was awful, plus the game characters are hard to maneuver, I'm with FF until they completely crash and burn.

Hackers. Death, You can have this! I'll pass.

OK, yesterday i was able to finally log in at noon where I'm at. Its now 11:30 am here in good old poduck nowheresville USA. Maybe I'll be able to get on in 30 minutes! YAY! Or not.... What do you all think? Did you all get the chance to log in at all yesterday or was that just me getting lucky?

After 3rd or 4th time server is down this week, I found a way to solve the problem. I bought Tekken 5 and X-men Legends. No dying of bordem while POL figures out the bugs. <(x.x)>

You know the awesome thing about a game you pay to play? You can stop paying. If it pisses you off that much, quit paying for it. They're doing the best they can, unless you happen to think you can do better?

when i want to play FFXI i dont play ANYTHING else. all morning ive been making a list of ALL the equipment ill use for ALL my jobs from 1-75. so far i finished WAR(that AF weapon is kewl! y do blm get screwed with their AF weapon). take my advice and try it. its fun=D(for me) and hopefully useful in the near future(i have no life. this game has taken my soul)

Just called in to playonline, same issue b/c of attacks we can't login... I bet it those motherf***er Japanese Gil sellers that got their acct. closed when they dropped the 800 accts. b/c of NM camping. They are just miserable and since they can't get on they are messing it up for everyone. They are mad b/c the good source of income they were making got shot!!. Get a damn JOB!!!

I think the should give us an estimated time to which the server will be fixed because try again later really isnt good enough

Ok, you set a schedule for getting rid of hackers. Set the exact time you finally find them. Set the exact time you figure out what TODAY's method of attack is, and while you're at it, figure out tomorrow's too so you can prevent it. They can't give us a timetable, simply because of the nature of the attacks. Try again later is the best you're going to get.

I totally agree with you ... it is hard to project what the hacker is going to do next since they are doing it in several different styles to make them less detectable ... It sucks i want on the game as well but i do know that what the hackers are doing is creating a very big mess for the programmers.

I think Square is doing a good job. I had a friend that played EQ and their serves went down for days. And he always had loging in problems. Plus SE might have great security, but all the security in the world cant stop a hacker from finding away in or away to just straight up overload the sever. I have seen it happen alot at work. They are doing what they can, as fast as they can. I would bet

I most often cannot find information on Server Errors @ the www.playonline.com website.

Then there's no way for us to know what's going on; we can't access POL and SE doesn't tell us why...

Somebody told me there's a "messaging" service through POL website so that u can send/receive messages as if u were online on POL...anybody know of that?

I remember when I was getting my paper for LB1...major shutdown on the server...from 1400 people down to 150...OMG...didn't get paper and they told us we had about 5 minutes to log out "properly". Got paper the next day after killing 4 liches.

Regardless of the problems that appear, I'm not going to stop playing the game. If I was to stop because I didn't like it, I would have already done it. Therefore, if it's just ever so often that we get bugged and have to calm our blood until we can play again...I say let's use time wisely...I miss FFXI already as well.../sigh

Yay 2nd morning in a row and I can't log in^^ And here I foolishly thought I would be hitting 65 by the end of the week. I forgot that from my 4 hours of daily available play time, I need to subtract 3-5 for updates and other errors.

Yesterday I couldn't log in until 12pm PST.. 20 minutes to play before work ^^; I hope today isn't the same.

I logged on at 4am Eastern time, and had played til about 10am. noticed that search was down since 9am, and AH obviously was down. So i went and tried to switch to mule to get an item...bad mistake. Can't get back in.

Wow...alot of you sure do like to complain! I was just seeing what people thought it was. So it sounds like those attacks? Well that sucks. Ah well, i'll continue to wait.

I was at work.
I came home to cook.
FFXI said version update please log into FFXI again to get update then logged out to the retrieveing messages screen.
after about 5 minutes I shutdown.
Now I only get failed attempts to connect to POL server error code POL-0011
Note I have yet to see a discount for game due to maintenance issues. They probably offer them to those who call and complain, working in the customer service industry only makes that suggestion more plausable. Everyone call up SOE and request discounts for this month for all users effected and we may actually get a discount.
Do Not Forget that there has been DOS attacks to the server so this may also be affecting the updates.

Ok honestly ppl have to stop saying "SE better get thre act together." It's annoying and just ignorant u really think thisg ame is runned by 2 times morons!? NO any online game will have it's massive errors, think of WOW when it first released. My god! servers were 1 Over crowded or 2 empty or 3 dropped like there hot!. Blizzard had to deal with alot of crap and alot of ******** too if ppl accaully just stayed clam during this time maybe get a life/ watch a movie/ read a book whatever they woulden't be so *******
After SE settles this problem they will probably give us a discont on our other monthly payment or something to make up for all u babies out there that are crying about servers being down.
Hell i have Half Life 2 that i never finished becuase of this game -_- maybe i'll finish it today -_-

I'm with you on this one fo the things that amazes me is how many people appear to be registering allkhazam account SOLELY for the purpose of complaining here (with the exception of the few who actually tried contacting POL directly). Making direct complaints at S-E via this site DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING your simply preaching to the chior for lack of better analogy.

This site is run by players and has no direct afilliation with POL or S-E so saying things like "S-E needs to get their act together" etc is prolly falling on deaf ears.

The people at S-E have better things to do (Like oh i dunno trying to fix the problem maybe?) than to read a flood of derogatory posts here telling them what a terrible job they are doing.

i agree. im sure Pol is doing all they can too get us back in the game. Tis the life online. i actually wouldnt care too much for a discount. their prolly working hard too fix this and im SURE this is putting a whole in their wallet. good things can come out of patience.

I submitted a bug report to them at 8 AM EST this morning and then they put a thing on the FFXI front page and a little info page blurb. But what looks like is happening is the server that allows you to choose who to log in is down. The actual game servers are up.

SE ccould stop gilsellers & make everyone happy by giving all a chance to have those wonderful dropped items. If the Peacock charm, Strider boots, Kraken club, anything that you may believe is camped for the sale of gil, is made to be rare/ex,then anyone may only be alotted 1 of these items at any given time & unable to sell at any price. i mean all NM's anywhere. this is the only solution i could come up with that would eliminate the gilsellers for good. everyone would have a chance at camping until the item they needed was dropped to them & all would have a chance at this.

I agree with you about half-way. While the gilsellers do monopolize the NM drops and take it to unfair/extreme measures, NM hunting is one of the most profitable ways for players to make money. The fact that the gilsellers use unfair tactics such as botting/scripting/etc that makes it suck for those who want to make gil for proper reasons, or keep the drop for their respective job.

Yeah my emperor hairpin cost 900k, Ochiudo's kote 1.1mil, snipers 420k each, jujitsu Gi, 450k

I believe S.E. is actually getting on the case with Gilsellers...just it's a little "too" late. You can't make items that are already available at AH rare/ex, because that's unfair for the people that want to "get rid of" them now.

However, SE is adding a lot of rare/ex equip to get with drops, example is jaeger ring, pretty neat, can't go up or down in price...because u can't buy it. The odd "subligars" >.> and some lv 39 weapons; most of these are on the promyvions, etc, because they are new mobs, so nobody has a disadvantage.

I think we all know that the servers are up and those who are currently on can play, but if they disconnect or log out they can't get in again. The FFXI web chat guy told me that this was just the Ddos attacks again. And I tryed to ask him if the playonline server is attack in a certain time ever day and he said "Ddos attack...."

For some reason it took me 9 hours to update last time. I'm on a 3mbps cable connection...

Then last night while partying in garliage citadel (lv49) I see the message with the new update. I wonder...if I log out...will I be able to log back in? so I just stayed...I was 2k tnl to 50. MNK49/WAR24...sigh I want double attack and turn in the LB1 items already.

Then all of the sudden BST shows up and mpk's my party and the one of lvl 65s behind us.

About 15 minutes later, same bst, pulls same mob (bomb) and we get mpk'd again. Not 5 minutes later, when we got raised, another bomb from same bst killed the pt, and about 7 other people behind us, including rng73, pld 71, etc.

Not a single apology of course. After that I went to Crawler's Nest, where I died a couple other times (taru MNKs ...we feel the pain).

Total loss of exp...5k...total gain...4k, after 4 hours extra after deaths.

I am so close to 50...but I wonder if I should just have logged out and upon error stayed out of the game...

New day, let's see what happens.

I double click on FFXI icon...>> Connection Error.

Oh well...guess LB1 will have to wait :P

Could I at least log into POL I could at least chat w/ my friends, see if someone else is having troubles...then again I guess this is proof enough

Yes, these promblems havent effected me to much, but i get home at around 2:30, so its no big promblem. During the time FFXI wont let me on... (grrr) i just play Dynasty Warriors 5. I suggest you all play another game for the time being, if i remember correctly, FFXI costs $22 a month (or soo depending on your mules), so thats about average, 70cents a day. now, at 70 cents a day, thats a little under 3 cents an HOUR, so you could Scavange Pocket change out of your Soufa for that much XD.

i hope you all understand.. 3 cents an hour isnt bad.

I used to have two accounts with 4 chars in each.

For those that know me, they know all of them were full of stuff...and pffttt how much was I paying... $34?? glad now I only have one account with..uhh 4 chars >.>

I get kicked from time to time, ussualy i just get "No response from server" and i can log back on... but i dont get home from school till like 2:30 anyway, and by then it ussualy always lets me on. IF it doesnt let me on, i go play Dynasty Warriors 5, you all should find another game to play for the time being... the whole money thing, your paying 22$ a month (maybe) thats about 70 cents a day, so about 3cents an hour... chill, you can scavange through your couch for the 70 cents you loose today
