My manager must either play FFXI or have horribly bad luck concerning me and my days off. It never fails. He either gives me the one day its raining off (not like I leave the house anyways, but still...), of if there's maintenance he ALWAYS gives me that day off. Hopefully it'll stay at 1.5 hours and not have any trouble getting on afterwards.

Not ranting really, just voicing my annoyance... (Are those different?) I understand that the servers and headquarters are in Japan, so they do the updates in their off time, but do they ALWAYS have to? They could at least swap it sometimes. One update happens in the middle of the day for NA (like it ALWAYS is), next time it's the middle of the day for EU, then the next in the middle of the day for JP. Would make it equally crappy for all players that way. *shrug*

Mine told me in PST
# Mar 13 2005 at 12:14 PM Rating: Decent
Hmmm when I logged on yesterday it had it in PST for me. Hopefully they are starting doing it by location giving that person their time and not a different time zone.

I really hope this maintenance does fix the horrible amount of DC's that have been happening on the servers lately. We were doping a Garrison and half the people were dcing including the person who traded the item >.<. We were able to succeed but we got nothing out of it.
hope

My day off
# Mar 13 2005 at 2:43 AM Rating: Decent
Why do they always do maintenance on the one night of the week that I am not working, and can play FFXI?

Because they personally hate your guts, and monitor you to make sure when they do maintenance it'll **** you off as much as possible.

DC up the you know what
# Mar 12 2005 at 7:33 PM Rating: Decent
I really hope they are fixing the horrible server problems we've been having. Every update i hope and i hope that they are going to fix it, and it never happens. Im on Remora, and the lag has been getting continually worse for the past month or so, even in less populated areas. I have a excellent connection, so i know it isnt that. besides, everyone else has been complaining about it too. Today was the worst of all tho. Over half my server got DCed at once. Im talking over 2,000 people. Thats not cool. Especially when your whole party DCs except you and then you die :( .. To make things worse, it wasnt just a one-time server crash, because it happened again 20 minutes later. And then yet a third time, tho not as bad, only about 1k people. Okay, ill stop whining now. i just really hope it gets fixed.

So far we had little trouble on Bismarck.... until yesterday 80% of the server d/c at once. I had just escaped myself to get a new partymember through onzozo when half my party disappeared. The thf was left and died of agro (other PT d/c completely and their mob killed our thf). I didnt experience a d/c myself but got R0 a LOT....

I know this issue also goes on in WoW, where the servers crash due too many people logging in at once.

Oh btw our thf got a raise 2 from other pt when they came back ^-^

Yea, odin had a mass disconnection in which half the server died out... Luckily I was already disconnected when it started :P

I find it fascinating how few people actually know their time zones.

Maybe it's because I'm not American that I have forced myself to learn that New York is 5 hours behind me, San Franciso is 8 hours behind and Tokyo is 9 hours ahead.

We now live in a globalised society - nothing is really by anyone's time anymore because it's happening to someone else in another part of the world at a different time.

Personally when in game, if I know someone's location Eastern, Central or Pacific, I will take the time to translate my GMT (or even BST later this month) to their time to avoid confusion.

I wish others would be as courteous to know what London and Tokyo time (for example) is.

SE is right to post in GMT - it is a standard of time placing Greenwich at the centre - hell we must have invented it, if it's used.

My spring break isn't until the week after this update, and I'm at my dad's on monday XD
Wonder how long the patch is gonna take? I remember the really short, one minute 23 file one I did on Thursday, that was bearable, but the one's that take 8 hours are living hell
CT?

So, to my understanding... this is 11AM-1230PM CT? I was finally used to their old time system... lol. That's an awfully short maintenance. I guess they fixed mre small bugs, eh?

it's great that they have given the rest of us a chance to know what time the update will be without having to reset the clocks on our pcs ^^ !
Spring Break
# Mar 11 2005 at 3:26 PM Rating: Decent
Why couldn't they pick a week I wasn't going to attempt to spend 80% of my time playing FF XI. I realize that 1-2 hours may seem like very little, but taking into account having to eat once in a while, use the bathroom, and take very optional showers...who has time to waste 1-2 hours?
RE: Spring Break
# Mar 12 2005 at 2:56 PM Rating: Decent
lol, use those 1-2 hours for the food, bathroom and shower break :) All at one time. Maybe do some research here before you get on to help you with your goals for the day :)
