All Worlds Scheduled Maintenance (Feb. 23)

At the following time, we will be performing FINAL FANTASY XI server maintenance on all worlds. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XI will be unavailable. *The client software will also be updated at this time. Once this maintenance is completed, the client update will start automatically after logging back into FINAL FANTASY XI. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen. [Affected Services] FINAL FANTASY XI [Important Update Details] - New Chains of Promathia missions will be added. - The new region "Lumoria" and the new area "Al'Taieu" will become accessible. - Many new quests centered in the Chains of Promathia areas will be added. - Major improvements will be made to the fishing system. - Bargain-priced multi-tickets for barges and manaclippers will become available. - New routes and times will be introduced for Carpenters' Landing barges. - Mannequins will become available for purchase. - An NPC that will store artifact armor as a key item will be introduced. - The limit for adjusting existing abilities using Merit Points will be raised. - Additional categories will become available for the use of Merit Points. - Shields will reduce the amount of damage taken instead of negating all damage. - The white magic spell Banish will inflict more damage on undead monsters. - The white magic spell Banish III will become available. - A new job trait for white mages will be added. - A new job trait for samurais will be added. - Logging will become possible in the Misareaux Coast. - Logging results in the Lufaise Meadows will be adjusted. - There will be additions and changes to some of the items required to fulfill guild contracts. - A new key item called "Alchemic Ensorcellment" will become available for purchase with alchemy guild points. - The number of guild points required to purchase the key item Anima Synthesis will be reduced. - The number of categories available for search comments will be expanded. - NPC chat filter settings will be refined. - Various other fixes. *More details of this version update will be made available on Feb 23, 2005.

Level 40 "Master" Abilities

I think all the jobs (melee particually since mages get new spells every other level) should get some sort of special abilities at lvl 40. I think it would be great if there was some sort of miletstone for reaching 40 (40 due to the new bcnm you can do and it's too high to be subbed). I would love to see DRG, DRK or even NIN get something as simple as provoke at lvl 40. It would really change up all of the normal subs for all the sub tanking jobs and give them the freedom to sub something that will help their job instead of being forced to sub war for provoke. Granted I am a lvl 40 drk/20thf but I know there has been time where I wished I had provoke to save a mage. All I'm saying is make 40 mean something. Some job ideas since I have your attention. :)

Chemist: uses items to cure party members (help cure the problem of MUST having a whm 10-22. Similiar to a rng or nin but uses items to cure.

Elementalist: Elemental abilites acording to what elemental items called Runes (new) you've obtained and have on you at the time in rune (range)slot, like brd's instrument. ie: if you have an ice rune equipped you can use ice based abilities (ice breath, ice shards). Wind rune = wind abilities etc. or if you have a combined rune (higher level) like ice+wind = artic wind, ice storm. Abilites stronger/weak based on enviroment or weather.

Blue Mage: Learn mob abilities by having Study ability activated (with recast timer) while the ability is done to you and lived to learn it. ie: Synnre activates "Study".....Hill lizard uses plaguebreath.... Synnre's "Study" Effect wears off. Synnre has learned "Plaguebreath".

Flame the ideas if you want. I've heard better and worse ones out there these were just mine. btw can you tell i play ff tactics.... a lot...

Sounds really good if they did that. The game would be soooo much biiger at that point. NO complaints there. I agree with new jobs like the blue mage, that would be cool. Maybe even new character type/races like faces body types and races. Like if they had male Mithra but only a % of male Mithra could be "played" compaired to the Female Mithra. . . or something like that.

ya im tired of gil sellers in my server i think they need to make nm's spawn time and drop rates% better cause theres some things i need for my charcters that i need but cant afford. and i would like to know what kind of fame u need for the teleport quest in kazham one friend said widurs other said bastok i already have high fame in bastok working on widurst.

I know what I would like to see... a freakin' skill up on my chocobo digging skill...
/em Tpolom gains .1 Chocobo digging skill.
Would be better than riding over and over and still have to wait 16s to dig ; ; that's the one thing I would like them to call an "Official" skill so I knew how to skill up on it

why don't they add job traits for every job to make it, in a sence less racest(or jobest^^)
we all know that who ever isn't sam or whm isn't liking this right now and about the fishing bots, too bad monsters can't got into cities and kill all them users^^

I would like to see some job abilities for ALL jobs become availible for lvl 40. 40 should be a huge milestone for each job cause at that point it can't be subbed and still get the ability. DRK don't get jack and neither do several other jobs.

I dont know about anyone else but i would like to see a few job specific spells for the Pld. I mean come on every other Casting Job has them ie. Refresh, Raise II & III, Abs-Vit. Perhaps a spell that reduces the dmg done by a mob, or an AoE spell, or turning Holy in to an AoE making it a little more usefull. I dont know something. Oh i know Flash II, or Flashga.

Personally I hope that the change to fishing kills off most of the fishing bots. I know of a bunch that are always are the same spot in Yughott Grotto, all the time. They also mess up my search for Mining Points whenever I go mining. I even MPKed one ^_^

I better buy my fishing gear before the patch! I have a feeling that since everyone is probably going to want to do fishing, fishing gear is going to be out of stock and the prices will shoot up quite a bit! My advice goes to everyone else who is planning on trying this!

Oh I hope the new Whm trait would allow you to raise all team mates at once like in older FF games. although this wouldn't be a trait. . . waaaa!

well whatever it would be lets hope it would give whm a chance to get party instead of rdm. >_<

New job traits for SAM & WHM will be given for those at lvl 72 or whatever. Super high, Or thats what POl said if I remember. Also the Sheild thing is improved they said, even if it doesn't block a attack completly, it greatly reduces the attack it blocks, and it will block more. I like this better then oh I block an attack 1 out of 53 attacks. Sheild used to be like a gob missed you, but now it works more often so I can't complain. . . That is if it will . . .

The traits that they specifically mentioned weren't given a level area for them to kick in.

They mentioned about abilities that could be gotten through the merit point system for each job, but that's it.

The new traits that Sam and Whm are getting weren't specified and won't be until the actual update. But just like when Thfs got Assassin, the level won't be known until after the update occurs.

As for the shield skill, SE is making it so that it never negates all damage like it used to. It will only reduce it from now on. Which means, the only way to negate all damage is with a parry or an evade, or guard I suppose if you're mnk or have it subbed. And yes, the shield will activate and level more than it used to at this point. So it's sort of a double edged sword. Also, the amount of activations done and damage reduced will greatly depend on the type of shield your using.

Guard doesn't negate all dmg. It reduces it just like the new shield skill will be.

it has to be all 5 pieces at once, at least that what i understand, then you get the "claim slip" but i'm very excited about this, since i do have various jobs above 60, so it would help alot on space
