Big Development Week

Matt Firor from the Camelot Herald tells of all the things that they have planned for this week. But first I am posting what he said later in response to the latter post due to it's hilarity and how rumors can spread like wildfire. I laughed about this one for about five minutes when Jeff Hickman called me to tell me about it: the "Virus" that is plaguing our development team is of the biological type. There are several posts on various message boards reacting to the computer virus that has brought us to our knees. This is not true - the truth is that many members of the team are home sick right now. It has nothing to do with computer viruses. Sorry for the confusion. Also, we think we've solved the server crashing problem - this morning's server maintenance (when we took down all servers) was when we upgraded to a new Camelot server executable that we think will stop these crashes from happening. Of course we'll keep our eyes on it to make sure that it's stable, and will take additional action as appropriate. Even though our developement team is being devastated by a nasty virus, we're planning on a big development week. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we will be putting new versions up to Pendragon for testing. These versions will contain the features that we've been talking about for the last month or so. This week on Pendragon, you're going to see mid to high level assassins climbing keep walls, basic shapeshifting, flaming weapons (and other effects too), Bounty Points that you can accrue based on your Realm Points and can then spend at special Bounty stores to purchase special items only available there, and some new abilities to spice up some melee classes that need them. Of course added to this is the continual addition of new quests to the game, fixing problems in current quests, modifying and enhancing monster encounters and lots of other world/quest items. Also we'll continue our tweaking of the spell system and will continue to make changes there. Our art department is working on getting some long-awaited new monster models, at least some of which should go into the game this week as well. Keep your eyes on the Camelot Herald over the next couple of days, and I'll keep you all posted on exactly what's going into the game when the Pendragon release notes are posted tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday
