October-December Announcements Part 2

The holiday season is here and the Final Fantasy XI development elves have been busy putting together goodies for all the good boys and girls of Vana'diel. We are planning our next major version update for Thursday, December 9. The details of the update are as follows: There will be several new quests and events added to the Promathia areas. New quests will also be added in Non-Promathia areas. New monsters (including notorious monsters) will be added. Over 15 new "orb battles" will be added. Several new weapons, types of equipment, and items will be introduced. The difficulty of selected Promathia missions will be adjusted. Tavnazian Archipelago supply quests and regional teleportation will become available. Chat filter options will be expanded. A new Gobbiebag quest will be introduced. Shortcuts into Promyvion - Vahzl for those who have partially or fully completed the Promathia mission will be added. "Temporary items" found on the Balltista playing field may now be stored in one's inventory for the duration of the match(es). Also several previous "special" rules will be implemented permanently. A new point system for rating Ballista participants on their performance will be introduced. The stack number for several select items will be increased from 12 to 99. In accordance with the adjustments, players will be unable to put items up for auction for a short period of time. Details on this temporary maintenance will be provided soon. Several previously unstackable foods will now be stackable. The duration and effect of certain foods will be adjusted. The Old Sabertooth in Sauromugue Champaign will no longer drop any items. The variety of items that can be dug up using the "Scavenge" ability will be increased. A new thief job trait will be added. The potency of etudes will be adjusted. "Spirit Link" will now heal a wyvern's status ailments. The accuracy of "Blood Pact" attacks during magic bursts will be adjusted. The strength of "Blood Pact" attacks will not increase as much when fighting weaker enemies. The order of messages that appear when using the /nominate, /vote and /propose commands will be adjusted The fee collected when placing items on auction will be determined by the current auction price, not the store/guild selling price. In addition to the changes mentioned above, many other adjustments are being made. A complete list of all changes will be available on the day of the update. Also, we are planning several new events for the end of the year, so keep your eyes open! Another issue being addressed during this version update is the monopoly over certain monsters and items by a number of players. The development team is currently working on several methods to combat these types of actions. Some methods include the introduction of similar items, and new ways of obtaining items. Articles 23, 24 and 25 of the PlayOnline User Agreement as well as Article 6 of the Finaly Fantasy XI User Agreement specificly prohibit the sale of any in-game money, characters, and/or items on internet auctions, etc. Any players found participating in RMT (Real Money Trading), whether it be buying or selling, may have their accounts terminated. Please consider the consequences before partaking in actions that may result in the destruction of all your player characters. Finally, for all existing and future Windows version players, we have developed a new benchmark program to test the playability of Finaly Fantasy XI on your personal computer. "Vana'diel Bench 3" will not only display the stunning landscape of the Lufaise Meadows, but will also offer a sneak peak into some of the most exciting cutscenes from the Chains of Promathia missions! To download this free software, visit the Final Fantasy XI homepage, or any participating game sites.

Gil Farming/AH charge
# Nov 30 2004 at 1:36 PM Rating: Decent
It will be interesting to see their decision. Perhaps they have chosen to make some of the items Rare/Ex...how many ppl would that upset. After all, HNM linkshells are in a way camping these same monsters.

I also, like the idea of the change in AH charge pricing. If you sell an item for 2mil, y should you only pay the guild/selling price as a charge. It will be interesting to see how this effects the economy, for ill or health.

Wow...being only a level 34 advanced job...I don't know everything about this game. I thought this was legal. About some time last June, I bought close to 1,000,000 gil online from www.cannotlinkto. Wow....I had no idea it was considered cheating. But now that I know, I'm never even thinking about doing it again. :( I always figured since I work hard for my money, it was like exchanging my money for foreign money at the bank. You know like when you go to a foreign country, but I'm sure glad I didn't get caught. Wow...I just realized how fast my heart is beating... :- \

SE just now realized this? I mean we've only been complaining about these Gil-Bots/Farmers all summer long.

I'm glad they are FINALLY going to address this issue, but I doubt the decision they make would be drastic enough to stop gil bots.

On some more important information, New equipment and monsters is great to hear! I am looking forward to the Christmas in Vanadiel; Seeing as how my name is Darth Santa, this should be interesting.

this is absolutly one of the greatest things that could be happening in this game. i reacently made a dicition to not level untill i get my snipers rings but if i dont have the money for them befor xmas i may not have to worry about.but still tell me it wouldnt be kool to say ur rings are 800k i mean lets face it we all hait the gill farmers but the people that have the emp hairpin or leaping boots or the snipers rings or ochudos and theses are the main ones(not saying i do because have nuthing at all) but it must feel good to say ya thats my ring it cost 800k :) u no its the trueth XD no madder how horrid it is its the truth

please correct me if i'm over simplifing this, but the best way i see to help cut down over camping and voking bots, is to alow on 2 or 3 NM drops per playier character ever. So a main could get 3 Holy Philes and each mule could get 3 as well, (know someone that dropped one 25 tnl, by mistake to get one last earth crystal for a stack.) There will be exception for NM drops that stack like those worm crystal things (forget there name) but basicly this is what i think would work.

They've known about this for a long time now, and have been working on the problem - this doesn't have anything to do with WoW.

They're trying to make a good, longterm solution that doesn't rely on constant human intervention. However, their attitude has been too laissez faire until now - they should've stepped up the account closures long ago to show that they meant business. However, I believe the national GM divide makes it hard, because they try to resolve things fairly in the player's native language - for example, Japanese GMs don't have any authority over English players and vice versa.

Ya i know WoW prob has little to do with it just a little conspiracy theory sarcasim :). heres also something funny i saw the other day, A co-worker of mine plays SWG. while he was on the company supported website with forums like this one a thread posted saying all farwell msg would be deleted and asked that players not post them. it was funny cus there seems to be a mass exodus of players from there Going to WoW. yet again i dont play the game so the exodus thing is only what i hear from my coworker

I could see this change plus the jeuno tax cause items to be sold in the city auction houses more.

Gilfinder 2 would change so much.... more gil spontaneously created would mean possible economy shifts.

Gilfinder two would be silly in that THFs wouldn't really change all that much- but the potential impact would be enormous.

I know many THFs complain about no invites post 60 ("Everyone else can fill our role w/ a THF sub! Why invite us/") Maybe they are adjusting that?

ahem, brds get songs every other lvl.... kinda unfair if you think about all DD and anyone without magic only get abilites 5-10 lvls apart... if you notice the lack of abilites in most jobs post 30 =_= they need to keep this up with all jobs... brd dont need anymore, you have your billions of cheap songs
