July 16th Patch

July 16, 2004 With the update on the 14th, we changed the AA system to allow for more flexibility and control as we move forward and add additional AAs. All of the over 300 AAs were affected by this change. Some of the AAs have since been behaving incorrectly and we feel that these AA problems are enough of a hindrance to gameplay that it is necessary to correct them tonight. Here is the list of changes we have for you tonight; - AA abilities that were previously usable when using a discipline, sitting, or under the effects of stun, divine aura, or silence should once again be usable in those situations. - Resolved an issue with Warriors Shielding that caused it to cancel instantly - A bug in the Iksar Necro skullcap quest that allowed players to obtain it illegitimately has been fixed. - Several tradeskilled items have had their values modified to prevent a profitability exploit. - The key to Veeshan's Peak is now No-Drop on Firiona Vie We apologize to those of you, who had raids and other activities scheduled tonight and thank you for your patience. Thanks all! -- The EverQuest Team

I wonder what tradeskill was changed except the one given out on the rpgexpert.

Can anyone share some light?
charms

several charms are no longer nodrop (charm of deception) as they are now in baz on Rodcet nife. My brother purchased a chipped lion _____ for his alt. Was this a stealth nerf? Means charms now for twinks I suppose.
Tradeskills

I for one have NO trade skills for ANY of my toons except 1 and refuse to even advance his any farther. The cost and return ratio for trade skills make them "a bad investment" of both time and plat. Why bother? Would you go to work everyday if at the end of the day you owed them money? I think not. Maybe Sony should try that in RL and see how many of their peeps show up for work.

/shrug ... seems to me that having Signet of Might or Signet of the Arcane Smiley: jawdrop may be a fairly decent reward for having all of your skills above 200 Smiley: grin

Not to mention, you can also obtain Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl by just getting the skills to 170-180 ...

While I realize they are more involved than having just the skills, they are still very worthy if you have the AAs to spend IMHO

The Nerf Monster has struck again

What is wrong with SONY?
They have this game that could be a wonderful experience.
They want you to do things such as tradeskills so that you can be an all around toon, instead of a 1 dimensional toon. Oh by the way, they want you to pay them to do your tradeskills.
We are allready paying to play this game.
Is SONY the IRS of mmorpg?
If you make something you need to sell it and sell it for a profit, not a loss. If you are expected to make something and sell it at a loss then there is no reason to:
A) Learn a skill
B) Practice that skill
C) Make anything using that skill
The first Nerf that really got me was the one for fishing. You could fish in the Abysmal Sea for a few copper and sell your fish for just under 5pp per pound. NERF!!!!!!! Now you can fish for a few copper and then resell your fish for 1cp per pound. Why did we spend hours fishing, to get our skill up so we can lose money on the fish. OH!!!! A thought. Maybe Sony wanted us to be able to stop off at the local pond, lake, or sea on our way to the next zone when we run out of food and fish so we can eat. I can just hear it now, Pause the battle guys, I am out of food, I need to go fishing so I do not get hungry while we are killing the mobs.
The latest Nerf that affected me was the nerfing of the fletching skill that cost me 16pp to buy the materials to make a bow with and only be able to resell that bow for 15pp. Another winning proposition brought to you by the only guys in this game that can make money, SONY.
I am glad I had allready decided NOT to purchase the next expansion for EQ and I am leaning more and more everyday to not renewing my subscription to this game when the time comes.
SONY read my print THE NERF MONSTER HAS TO GO!!!!!
Thank You for your time.

yeah, and in abysmal you also had people farming plat of of fishing...

If you want massive inflation, then by all means, this is a good idea. Lets just jack up ornate prices so you can go and twink out yourself and instead of leveling/earning your flags. The fishing nerf was most definately well deserved. The fishing skill is used to with baking to get some decent stat foods, so its not useless.

LOL RPGs are about gameplay and vibe, not graphics. EQ2 sure does look awesome, but how will it play? We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.. and after the 350th patch. I for one am new to EQ (trial) and am about to buy the Platinum Pack cuz the game hooked me so hard and fast. I'm definitly keeping an eye on EQ2, but am gonna give it some time to mature... and also give my computer some time to be upgraded.. heh A 9700pro is nice n all, but EQ2 is gonna laugh me right off the server with that..
To nerf or not to nerf? Has it ever really been a question?

I actually wonder if they really patched to fix the AA's and stuff, or if they used that as an excuse to break out the nerf bat.
