Does anyone know if this 'Improved Graphics' means another total revamp like they did with Luclin? Or is it just like what they did with LDoN: certain creatures and the new zones? If u get any new info plz post :)

If you all are so unhappy with EQ, then why do you still play? I mean you have to spend this money for something you log on to and play for hours everyday right? What a waste of your time, huh? I tell you what. Log off delete you character, remove EQ from your system and find something else. Do all of us a favor who enjoy this game and STFU! Wow, if you spent as much time lvling and grinding as you did complaining you would be lvl 65 with 100+ aa's as I am.

When you hit 65 and get alot of aa's it very cool to see something new come out like this. Epic 2.0 would be nice so the epics can compete with the uber items you get in Time and GoD. You have been complaining about your epics not being up to par, well here you go. Now you say oh the epics are going to be sooooo ghey and all this new stuff is ghey... Well if that is your stand point then refer to my above statement.

I mean look at those graffics. Very impressive. Now I understand the upgrade to Direct X9. If your system can't hang with this upgrade, then get off the computer get a job and go upgrade! The world of computers is evolving and if you don't, then you will be left behind.

BTW 60-65 is not that hard to do. Use your brain build a group that can kill fast and furious and ding away. I did it in 4 months. No I don't play 12+ hours a week 7 days. I play like 4-5 hours 3 times a week.

Just do us a favor and stop complaining!

There my 2cp on all the haters out there.........

Off to get lvl 65 capped so I can ding 66, lol.

    Good luck!

Ok i have to agree with you on people whining about the new expansion and lv cap increase if you dont want it dont buy it. As for me i cant wait i love new expansions even if i havent played in any GOD zones yet i will get there eventually same with this one. My guild grows stronger with new expansions and aswell it keeps you striving to get better so you can get to these new places and get that uber gear. On another not this also helps those uber guilds that have been everwhere in the game and have no where to go now they do. So if you cant grasp the consept of the game then just go somewhere else.

Just my 2cp sorry for the rant.

Ahh yes rant on my friend..there are always gonna be some who like the new expansion and some who dont... i will most definatly love most aspects of the expansion BUT.,..the lvl cap increaseseem dumb to me and with undoubtedly result in many many boring hours of BoT exp Grinding...and to further complicate matters I seem to get frustrated playing my cleric on exp groups...would have rather left him as my raid toon...OH WELL....here is to another month or so of exp grinding!!!!!!!!!! oh joy!!!/frown...

Oh and you say dont buy the new expansion...how would i keep up in raiding being one of the top clerics in my guild if everyone was 5 lvl's higher then me...C'mon now... =)

Wow, I just wanted to say, where have you been Iannydar? I see that you have 7 posts to your name, 3 of them are in this update thread. This issue had evidently moved you tremendously. I agree with the bulk of your posts and hope you'll continue to weigh in on discussions in the future. Don't keep it all bottled up for one thread though, spread out. :-)

Yeah this one was the fabled "Straw that broke the camels back". After reading the expansion news and stuff i just had to create and account and post a rant...LOL. Also, i figured i spend wayyy too much time here on this site not to be able to post anything. Anyways thanks man i will continue to post and i am glad to see there is someone out there who agrees with me and does not want to just call me an idiot for no reason.

I think that a lot of people have a few issues with a few parts of the expansion...not all of EQ =). I also think most are very apprehensive of the new "improved" graphics and "Epic 2". My main thing is the lvl cap increase... i see no point in it honestly. If more spells are included make them quest spells or dropped spells but to have me tediously grind through 5 more lvl's is going to frustrate me( but thats just me).
Anywyas EQ rocks i will play it anyways and will continue to do so until the game is no longer available.

Would have to agree here. This is a great game. Always growing. Always expanding. More content than the next 10 games combined. Still coming up with original content and gameplay every day. (granted some may be slightly 'borrowed' from the other games, but heh... it is still goodness) It is the 300# Gorilla of MMoRPG's and it is continually proving it. I have been playing this for 5 years!!! That in itself is amazing.

And with the recent Hotspots and Planes... exp is not an issue nowadays. 55-65 is actually one of the easiest, fastest treks in the XP chain. PoV at 55 until 62 and then BoT to 65. You get anywhere from 2% of your level per kill. Lowest is about .8%. Chain-pulling it goes by very quickly. Then, AA's are phenomenal there as well.

Anyway, the point is... after 5 years, Sony/Verant have continued to make good on their promise to deliver the best online experience possible even if it takes a bit of time and patience. I can't WAIT to see what the future brings, personally. Bring it ON!

I agree totally and people need to relize the issues we are having now did not happen with god. They happened after when they changed to dx9. They just need to stfu as was said before. The issues will get fixxed sometime and if someone thinks they can do better than call sony and help them fix it. Oh thats right I forgot all these whiners are computer genious and can fix anything. So if you do not like the game then quit now and leave us that do in peace.

    so JCLOUD and ACEDADDY.....

I guess you think, that I can go to a store, read the description on a box about a game, from a very reputable company, see what it is they will give me, IF I give them my 30 dollars....bring it home, have it not come anywhere NEAR what they promised....complain about that....and then it is ok to tell someone to STFU...?? Im confused here. I did my part, Sony promised to give me something for my money, which they didn't. I wasn’t aware for one that you paid the monthly subscription on my 3 accounts my family has, to enable you to advise me to play or not play, post or not post...... nor did I know that you were an authority on things....I sure didn’t know that my 3 yr old that whines, is a computer genius.....goodness!!!! must call Microsoft and get her in....
Your post is really pathetic.....you start reading a negative thread, read down what 20 posts? then decide to wave the banner....
If people do NOT get what they pay for, they have EVERY right to complain. I just LOVE the children posting on here that will always call someone a whiner, who is trying to make a statement about something. I just KNOW its the same ones that call your Lvl 65 character a 'ebayer acct' in game. Same morons.
I have read in this thread, "let them fix it, it will get fixed" hmmm geee.... I am still wondering when they are fixing any of the old bugs that have been around since beta and still exist. While we wait for them to fix the GoD issues, its okay to come out with yet ANOTHER expansion, with everything still broken........whaddaya thinking??? How can ANYONE rationalize that 'it's ok' Maybe it's okay with YOUR money, but don't tell me how to feel about spending mine. No I don't HAVE to buy it, but....if I care to ever get into a group with lvl 70's, I damn well better have that lvl 68 slow spell, or an enchanter having C8 or something ....
Why do we play if we are unhappy....... I have a theory on that...
I tell you why *I* still play.....it simple.....I spent FOUR FREAKIN YEARS OF MY LIFE BUILDING THESE FREAKIN CHARACTERS.....(sorry to yell)
So like..... ya, i'll just leave.....ya, let me find another game I can spend another FOUR FREAKIN YEARS LEVELING CHARACTERS.....
So I try FFXI and its fun, but somewhat laggy......but quit. Not because I didn’t like the game, I liked it far better than everquest. The reason was, I didn't want a timesink of any kind to have a high level strong well equipped char.
So I go back to EQ, and play now and then, however.....I play maybe 5% as much as I did before GoD came out. After I saw the insane number of AA's to complete ONE new ability, 48 of them, I said....no way, I ain't doin this again.
I feel for the people that struggled for sometimes years to reach 65, to have that uberness just snatched away, all their hard work, and now your not what you were......
It's been said if you don't like the game, then delete your chars and remove it from your computer...... So I say this to you.... if you don't like negative threads.....DONT READ NEGATIVE THREADS......do NOT bless us with your atrocious spelling, do NOT read 20 or 30 posts that annoy you.....do NOT take the time to sound un-intelligent....and leave *US* alone, those who wish to be able to speak their mind, without having some 8 yr old say STFU.....oooooohhhhh not the dreaded STFU.....

    Peace

As with every other expansion that has come out, we have the individuals complaining and whining about about paying for a new expansion, previous expansions being incomplete, and SOE business practices. They attack with threats of not buying, quitting EQ, or petitions. Truth of the matter, they will all be ing playing Omens of War either on release day or maybe a month after. I for one am happy with my almost 4 year experience with EQ. SOE has kept the game evolving and changing which has kept my interest and desire to play alive and thriving. Make the threats and such, you will be here after Omens of War, and more then likely will have bought it as well.

    POINT BY POINT COMMENTS:

    1. Price EQ costs me 1.2 cents per hour for the game 2.6 cents per hour for the ISP, and 2.2 cents per hour for the phone line. Whats another $30 spread out over the next 3 years? CHEAP.

    2) Improved Graphics - meaning NOT improved performing graphics which is what we would all like to see, but improved looking graphics which most of us couldn;t care less about. NEW SPELL EFFECTS LOL. they obviously havent realized that 99% of us who raid have spell effects turned off 100% of the time to improve performance.

    3) Level Cap --- IF THIS GOES HIGHER THAN 70 I AM QUITTING THE GAME. The last thing I need is yet another experience grind. When they came out with POP, they said 61 - 65 would not be the mind numbing grind that 50 to 60 had been...they were right, 61 to 65 was twice as bad at least. Oh did you realize that all your focus items just became totally obsolete because they only affect spells up to 65? Got another 400k to spend on new ones?

    4) Epic Weapons 2.0 - I will have to wait and see on this. If 95% of this can be done solo, and if the DOT i get on my epic improves, then well and good. But if this is going to require me pestering my guild to help me with yet another epic, or if I get 15 more wisdom, twice the weapon ratio, or some crud like that, then forget it.

    5) Guild Tribute System --- With the old tribue system, to get the mana equivalent of one maxed out cast of KEI (7 people, AA and item extended) you would have to spend 20,000 tribute points on FT5. Expect this to be just as cruddy.

    6) Low Level Task System -- LOL LOL LOL, like this is going to pay more than selling spiderling silks in the bazaar for 20p a piece. Reward to effort ratio will look good only to the retarded.

    7) Custom PC Titles -- 1 word - cool

    8) New disciplines -- I have a 142 IQ and I havent figured out the old disciplines...not that I play my monk that much. SONY -- GET A CLUE -- write a COMPREHENSIVE instruction manual...2000 pages should do it.

    9) New AA's -- If they are like the GoD AAs, sony knows where they can shove it.

    10) New items -- every expansion sony comes out with about TWO new item that I can use. Regarding no drop items -- forget it -- might as well call them never-drop items unless you are in an uber guild. Regarding non-solo quested items - forget it -- im NOT going to pester my friends for help on something that will be an extreamly minor upgrade anyway. Regarding solo quested items -- LOL LOL LOL. If it cant be had in the bazaar, then it cant be had. Number of items useful to me from GoD -- zero.

    11) New spells -- got 700k to spend on these?

    12) New quests -- a quest that can only be done solo is a valient display of ability, courage, and skill for a well deserved reward. A quest that can only be done by a group is about being willing to pester your friends. A quest that can only be done by a raid is about being in an uber guild. A quest that can be done solo, but can also be done by a group, is about spending 50,000p plat worth of effort for a 10,000p item. SONY has ZERO quests of type one -- valient. SONY has lots of quests of types 2 through 4 -- mindless, or pointless. Expect more of the same. They dont call it NEVERQUEST for nothing.

    12) New tradeskills -- GoD was GREAT for baking. Now if they could just do something about high end tailoring, smithing, and fletching. 600k down the drain to learn a skill is INSANE!!! Either make it easier (not asking for as easy as GoD made baking) or give us something to make that we can actually sell for a loss of less than 100p per combine. Yes, I know that fletching is about 30p loss per combine...but somehow I spent 6000p in fletching yesterday for ZERO skill ups (with a 355 wisdom).

    13) The most-compelling and persistent online world ever created. --- only in the U.S.

    14) ----- REGARDING EQ2 ----- I am SOOOOOOOO glad that my graphics card wont handle it. Makes the decision easy.

    RE: POINT BY POINT
    # May 07 2004 at 7:41 PM Rating: Default
    2. improved graphics; yea i turn off my gfx during raids but i look at them inbetween (they're cool)

    3. you don't have to lie you're not going to quit. But I doubt it'll be over 70. Also how is getting 5 levels different from getting all the useful AAs available now? EXP grinding is EXP grinding whether its normal or AA its all the same quit crying

    4. Everquest is oriented towards grouping good luck finding an epic2.0 that is 95% solo. These epics seem interesting and I can't wait to do the quests.

    5. Tribute system now is awesome. Grab a gomdurig or Clay leggings(guk adv. very common) and you have 30k and 20k points right there. FT5 takes 40pts every 10min oooo so expensive. I use the veng10 tribute constantly in the past 2 weeks i've used 7000 pts probably about 1-2played days. If you can't get a refresh in that amount of time (especially since you said you have a DoT on your epic I'm assuming you're a druid or necro and I'm sure you can solo just a tad), then you might read up on some guides.

    6. low level task thing. This is awesome because there are virtually no mid level characters anymore. It is also good for the folks who don't play 24/7; the point isn't to get loot to sell it's to get some experience and maybe an item you can use.

    7. PC titles should be cool yea. They have them in FFXI for quests and some were fairly amusing (ie: Vampire Hunter D-Minus for collecting garlic pieces and turning them in)

    8. Combat Abilities - buy tome, turn into guildmaster, bind to hotkey, press button.. i think a 20IQ monkey could do that but maybe I'm wrong I've never played with a monkey :)

    9. GoD AAs were bad? Weapon Affinity 5, and Sinister Strikes were the 1st 2 GoD AA's I picked up these are awesome. I proc hardcore and do way more dmg in offhand now compared to before. Also got the pet AAs on my necro which I love.

    10. PoP-lots of non uber items that are useful (ornate armor prime example), LDoN lots of augments, armor, weapons, etc that are useful. GoD many droppable items that 1 group or less can get easily (Riwwi colesuem is a prime example). Not seeing how you think each expansion provides no good items unless uber guilded.

    11. Somehow I doubt the spells will be 700k but whatever floats your boat.

    12. 50k on playerauctions ($40-$50) time it takes in real world to make that much 7-10hrs at the bare minimum wage. Seems like easy quests to me :) If you want solo quests go play morrowind. Don't cry to everyone else because your guild doesn't respect you enough to devote ALL their time to you. Earn it.

    13. Haven't played any MMORPG yet (US or Global and yes i've played foreign MMORPGs) that match EQ in content or playability.

    14. EQ2 will have its ups and downs jus as EQ1 did when it first went live. I probably wont play live but i'll give it a shot in beta if they'll let me

OMG !!!!!! I didn't realise that free speech could get one flamed so horribly and totally!! While I don't necessarily agree with all the comments, I actually have a lot of fun to read them because I have the freedom to do so!!! God forbid that I could post anything that would be remotely complaining about the inadequencies of the game... after all, we all know that eq is the penultimate game of games and nothing ever goes wrong within its hallowed walls :P
But, back to the expansion... I too am a lvl 65 character, but I am not in an uber guild... hell, I'm not even in a guild yet... I have yet to find myself in the last expansion zones of GoD because I have a hard time to find groups at this point. Lately, I play maybe 1 hour a week, but if I find a good guild that doesn't require a prison sentence of hard labor and some extraordinary amount of aa's to even get a foot in their door, I may even get to enjoy these expansions. I applaud the attempts to regain the waning interest in this game and hope that I can group with people that actually have fun to play the game. So, those who flame the game, keep it up !!! Those who are honest enough about their opinions of the game, keep it up too because I actually read each and every one of these and enjoy them all!!

Once again, as it is always proven here, that one cannot complain if they feel as though they didnt get what they were promised from a company. Truly ashame that there are so many people out there trying to revive a dying game. Guess many dont read all the forums around and see no matter where they go to read, a mage board etc. there is tons of unhappy paying customers. Yes I am an unhappy paying customer, and when there is a media to be able to voice my complaints, I intend to use it. What I take great offense to, is someone going out of there way to tell ME how *I* should feel, or tell me I shouldnt post. Like I have said boys and girls, TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE. You say if we are unhappy with the game....leave. If you dont like the way the thread is going DONT READ THE FREAKING THING..... Go pay and play a broken game all you like. Flex your muscles and tell us the wonderful accomplishments you have made in a .....game.....
It is very poor form to lash out to someone who is upset with making a monetary and time investment on something, that was far less than the company claimed it to be.
You will never silence people from speaking their mind when they have been ripped off and lied to. If you think thats right....then maybe you need to be checking your own IQ, because anyone with any sort of rational thinking, would know its wrong to make false claims about a product, and then have virtually no support for in game or technical problems.

    Peace

Woot New Expansion ... down with the complainers
    # May 07 2004 at 7:27 AM Rating: Default
Well put Romen, I am getting tired of the people complaining about this game. If you are not happy, go play another game, there are other ones out there. People complaining about fixing this one, well to me, it does not need fixing if you are talking about class balancing (I have 24 toons that I play, all different classes, all have the pluses and minuses)...shut up and get to know your class ... I know some players that are 65 with more than 100AAs and STILL do not know how to play their class. If you complain about the software portion of the game, it is running ok, and they do a great job of keeping it stable, you complainers obviously have no clue about what it takes to keep 10000 players from around the planet, each playing on different hardware, on the same server running good. Great job SoE. As far as complaining about this new expansion coming out at the same time as EQII, so what??? They made it clear that it is a different game and that both will be running in parallel....
Too much money??? Make the total, and go check how many hours your character played ... and tell me if it is more that a few pennies per hour of game play ... very cheap if you ask me.
Nuff said... complainers, go play some other game...

Be glad that EQ and it's spinoffs are even available at all. According to Sony's financials, they had revenues of over $57 Billion last year, with SOE (EQ, Star Wars, Station, etc.) representing less than 2/10 of 1% of that income.

In the big picture, why does Sony even give a hoot about this minor segment of the business? I don't know, but I'm glad they put as much effort into online gameplay as they do. Fan Faires and the such are regular events Sony does not have to do, but they do.

Sure there are glitches in the system and sometimes stuff doesn't always work the way we think it should, but for it to work 99% of the time is amazing, much less at all. IF, there is one item that we all would like to see fixed, it would be the Platinum thing. However as long as there is to be an open market to sell stuff, supply and demand will be part of the game.

And as to more levels and high end zones, bring em on. Think about it, if the uber crowd has new places and things to do, then it opens up the lower level mobs and zones to lower level guilds and peeps. Less camping of the uber mobs and that opens it up to everyone else. Remember when Lady Vox or Vindi were nearly impossible to get a shot at?

Thanks Sony, keep the world of Norrath coming.

dunno.....even at your calculations which I question, that would still be 114 Million dollars in revenue. I would have to think that would buy a few mercedes for the execs every year :)
The only thing that I can count on 99% of the time is, if I stand in PoK long enough with any of the three computers I play on, I can 99% expect to crash, then have a 1018 for ohhhh 10 minutes give or take, log in and try it again. If we really need a list of broken things in the game that are broken more than 1% of the time I could write one out, but it would be in volumes.

Though I do have many complaints, none the least are my conspiracy theories behind cannotlinktoe and IGE and SoE, I have to agree with you that the software side of this game is a behemoth, and I am surprised that Sony literally does not have an Army of programmers keeping her from flipping out. The fact that the system runs at all is incredible. I remember that before I came to EQ, I was playing Ultima Online, and not only was that system so buggy compared to EQ, which was at the time 2.5 years younger(still is, but now they are both past that initial stage) but they had to shut down for 8 hours a night to save the whole system. EQ never shut down except like 2 times a months for a few hours. I want you to imagine that 8 out of 24 hours of the day were gone, after midnight of whatever time zone you played your efforts for your toons was all lost. Bah, you have seen FEW resets from EQ, and by far WAY more incredible graphics and storylines from EQ, as well as the ability to shoulder the growth market. I understand what alot of people are saying about GoD, and I 100% agree. The expansion was completely sold on the false advertisement, I was, along with the rest of EQ players, told that this expansion was for lvls 55+. That is a lie, it is made for levels 65 with 100AAs+ with Elemental gear to pay in. I understand EQ making an expansion for these reasons, we have alot of players in that area. But I think the cure was to do two things: First, split like the top 10 servers into two, allowing higher levels to move to new servers for free, opening up room for the mid level toons to be able to experience more of the game, as well as allowing lower level toons to be able to go to a server where areas that are now popular more camps. Some would say that with EQ2 opening, why would Sony ever do this? Because EQ2 players will be completely different than EQ, where less time will be put into start up, way more characters will be allowed to spend time online, and the situationals which make EQ will be completely changed. You will see in a year one of two things, Either 2 markets completely different from each other, like IBM and Macintosh, or EQ2 will fail completely, like UO2 did. This is not likely, but even if it did, the ideas that were brought to the table for UO2 were eventually used in UO,(and EQ too) which allowed the game to continue to grow, even in the wake of the monster that is EQ. The second thing they should have done is sold the expansion on what it was, but only after the opening of the new servers. Why? Because now there would be more room for those guilds in their mid 50s to lower 60s to grow, get Raids moving, and get their own Time/Elemental equipment, in which allowing them to go to places outside of Natimbi in GoD. This expansion is a great expansion, it was just completely mishandled. But to show you Sony is not full of dummies, they are not only revamping the whole freaking expansion, but also in a couple of months doing the things we have been asking for. Giving us more titles to show off your abilities, MORE LEVELS, finally upgrading the Epics(only took a year of ******** hehe) and giving us something for the pain of this new graphics engine. I will say that Sony did tell us before GoD came out they already had 2 more expansions on the way, so I am not surprised. And we all know to expect that EQ will continue to get an expansion every 4 months, or 3 a year. I remember when it took a whole year to come out with one. ok there is my two cents.

Noone is forcing you to buy the expansion. One could play the original EQ game without ANY expansions if you wanted.

The price of the monthly subscription is less than what most people pay for their monthly Internet connection.

In the 4 1/2 years I've played I have probably spent more on computer upgrades to play the game than I have on expansions and subscription fees.

Last I checked the subscription cost was about what one would pay for premium cable channels such as HBO.

If they didn't charge for expansions, but just included it as part of the regular service, they would have to increase subscription fees to cover costs. At least this way you have a choice about whether you want to pay for it, wait for the price to come down, of just skip it.

And just an FYI to the person who complained about needing to buy Gates of DIscord to get the new tradeskill UI - you get the new UI even if you don't have that expansion.

Now I do agree that I would like them to fix more of the bugs with the old stuff. There are bugs that have existed since the beginning of EQ. I think there is plenty of room for improvement in their customer service, too.

Im really disappointed a new expansion is coming out so soon. almost all of the post PoP expansions are just things that should have been given in a patch really, LoY comes to mind right off. all of the expansions are really putting EQ to shame, i think 8 expansions is a BIT much. I mean its no wonder the game is lacking new people, nobody bothers with the old zones anymore because loot/exp isnt worth it, so to get the full experience noobs buy the original+5 expansions or so then pay a monthly fee on top of it for who knows what now since GMs do just a little more then nothing. # May 07 2004 at 1:28 AM Rating: Default
i do hope they give us some kind of corr for our old epic. to use for the 2.0 epic. thing. other wise like it says they should fix wht they have first.
i did read some place how they are reavmping VP and if you have a key dont dEL IT THEY WIL BE LETING YOU USE IT AFTER YOU DO SOME KIND OF QUEST.
i do hope they do something with old epic to in that line. and if the clr epic is made better i hope they do some how, keep some kind rezz on it.
But you no sony they will make if worse then it is. and put something on it that is totally use less . the clr epic to me is the best in game at any lvl with rezz, if they take that off its just another epic. and i hope they do imncease the rezz to 100 % for clr and 96 % for pally . and if they do that keep the 100 % rezz AA, but make the new 100% have rezz have everything the 96 % has but the xp back . in other words if they make a neww 100 % with spell
you get all your XP back . but everything else is like a 96 % rezz . unlike the aa 100 % were you get everything back but buff . and on the 100% aa they can make it so your buff you had at deatn come back on the rezz . and make the 100% aa less casting time like maybe 12 hours in stead of 18 hour if you quest some AA to do that like they did for some other AAs.

    # May 07 2004 at 12:52 AM Rating: Default
The list of things that popped into my head as I read about the next expansion and everyones comments about:

    Fact :
EQ2 is currently generating zero income

    Fact :
EQ is generating 5 mil + a month, not including expansion profits

    Fact :
People buy new expansions wether they have seen more than 25% of the expansions they already own, or not.

    Fact :
Buying new expansions for EQ funds EQ2 development

    Fact :
There is extraodinarily miniscule interest at SoE in correcting existing content as such efforts generate zero incremental income, and indeed actually COST the bottom line.

    Fact :
SoE is not about the game, the players the content or anything other than the bottom line.

    Fact :
Lineage has several million players. mostly in korea. EQ has 500,000 or less mostly in america

    Fact :
Lineage 2 is targeted at a much wider audience than just koreans or just americans.

    Conclusion :
Do not buy any new content until existing content is fixed and the fools who control the purse strings at SoE are made to pay dearly for their errant ways.

    Meanwhile, in other news ...

    <anonymous because this is my dad's account>

ok, first - if you bother to read the lore for EQII, it says that the game is set 500 years after the sleeper has been awakened - now, i realize that one server of EQ has activly awakened thier sleeper, and i don't know how that's going to fit, but for the rest - EQ hasn't been advancing year by year, or even several EQ years for one RL year, no matter what the 'date' is when you /time. we DON'T KNOW when the 'sleeper awakens' in EQ time. you keep thinking (by 'you', i mean everyone i've heard with this argument) that when EQII is released, it's immeadiatly upon the 'end' of EQ, with the end realtime being very soon. the two games have nothing to do with each other other than the world they are set in. as an example - one of my favorite authors is Mercedes Lackey. two of the trilogies in her Valdamar series were written at the same time - the first book of set A came out, then the first book of set B. Set B was set several thousand years before set A, yet they 'happened' for those of us who were 'experiencing' the events by reading the books at the same time. anything that happens in EQ after the release of EQII still happens before the lore of EQII starts. i seriously doubt that any of the computer based games that people are playing now will still be around in 500 years - or even 100 years. EQ can run for as long as it has the player base to support it without 'compramising' EQII's lore.

What can one say sheer disappointment, I can't beleive they are going to make us pay for another so fast... and from the description, it sounds like what we should have got from Gates of discord, FFS don't make us pay for this one for once, It would go a long way towards some customer service which is just non present in the game as of late. This totally saddens me, and makes EQ feel like monopoly and no longer about the game at all, I know they have always been out to make money, but once upon a atime from the very beginning it felt like the game. Oh well maybe it has been from the beginning and i was blind to it, maybe now it is just so blunt you can't ignore it.. Perhapps this really is a war, War of the MMORPG's in which they stand to lose, simply cause it feels like they do not care which is apperent in the lack of GM's, and the Legends Server, of course the /rewind command too.. which really leaves me with 2 options, I can buy this expansion in an attempt to reclaim some sort of glory and enjoyment i had when I was the all powerful one on the face of Norrath (pre-kunark era), or i can go the way of many old clerics become a 2 box to someone who has a fat wallet, truely disheartening sony truely..

buy a new account number. with no lvl 65 300AA chars on. create a character; a level one with no equipment but the newbie sword and shirt. Don't twink it. limit your travel to old world zones by not getting any expansions. get a few real life or guild friends to join in. do this on a new server where you have no characters, and there are less high levels.

you have most of the original everquest experience there. it is your own actions that have ruined the game for you.

also what makes you think that if you do not buy the newest expansion that you must ebay your old char? I didn't buy velious or pop till last autumn and easter. They didn't make me pack up and sell.

I swear some people are wierd... you feel it is your duty to play eq, rather than game it.

Considering that GoD was originally marketed as an expansion for the midlevel player and higher, and ended up being basically exclusively for the high end player, to me it looks like this is just content that should have been in GoD but wasn't ready so it got split into 2 and we get to pay twice YAY.

Oh well, at least we get some more levels to grind though so we might be able to handle most of the GoD stuff without time gear.

So You know What? Don't Buy It! Don't play it! It's Kinda like the "Howard Stern" arguement; You don't like him, turn him off. It's your choice, its alway's been your choice. Buying the game, adding the expansions, and most important spending all those endless hours adventuring, learning, leveling. I doubt you had a gun to your head when you did all that. Stop your complaining. At this rate, if they had offered it for free, you would be upset that you didn't get a bonus piece of gear with it. You twits that obviously have made this such an important part of your recreational life experience are in the end, often so transparently shallow. ESAD!

What I'd like to see from Sony:

Announcing Fixed Zones of Norrath, our latest 'expansion'

    * 200+ Zones of completely working content!

    * NPC's that stay in proper place in the geometry!

    * Hundreds of spells that stack properly, work appropriately and don't take 50 LDoNs to obtain!

    * Hundreds of plat buyers and sellers put out of business with new sting system and item price caps!

    * A GM for every server, at least 18 hours a day!

    * New respect for the non-EP flagged under 60 crowd!

    * FREE to download!

Now that would be cool! Not going to happen though. After buying GoD and getting only one zone I can play in and a tradeskill interface, this one will wait until I've got Time gear. Yeah, like that will happen any time soon . . . . .

All hail the price caps!!! lol. I would love to see this. I find it totally ridiculous to have to fork over 65k for 1 spell that someone has 10 copies of. And what is up with the people who try and sell spells for 200pp+ that can be bought at a vendor for a 2-25pp? My favorite though, was the guy selling fishing grubs for 100k...He goes to sleep at night praying that someone will accidentally hit the buy button on one of these little babies.

To those who think EQ2 is only 2 months away, you are a bit mistaken. Beta is only beginning so full release is most likely MANY months from now, I would guess 6ish.

I loved EQ for a very long time, but now it really feels like they are just trying to give everyone everything in exchange for our money. I think SOE is getting insecure and expecting a great threat to it's current title as best MMORPG. I think they have good reason to be affraid. I for one look forward to something new. EQ was great and I had a lot of fun, but I look forward to the future and moving on.

Things have become way to easy now. I see to many exploits now also.As far as bugs lately...
I logged on for 5 min tonight after not playing for 2 weeks and a Barbarian ran by with everything
from his waste down below the world. I can't ride my horse cause its all screwed up. and as far as playing an alt. For me at least its just lost that sence of wonder it used to have.
Accomplishments arent as special.I lost heart when playing a GoD instanced zone when I realized the group was all about gaining loot thru an exploit. Its been a fun 5 years but its time to move on in search of that feeling of wonder thats been lost. /bye
