The Dota 2: First Blood update is a big one, folks! Coming out in three days on September 23rd, Valve's update makes improvements across the board. Three changes are featured in First Blood:

Local Play – Start up a LAN and rock some Dota 2 in-person with friends! At the very least, this will be a major boon for tournaments to maximize responsiveness and minimize connection risks.

Captain's Draft – Each team has a Captain that influences the available pool of heroes.

  • 24 heroes (8 STR, 8 AGI, and 8 INT) are randomly selected, which both teams choose from.
  • Each Captain bans 2 heroes (1/1/1/1), then selects 5 heroes (1/2/2/2/2/1).
  • Each team has 150 seconds total to complete all of their bans and selections.

Improved Armory – Your Backpack is now your Armory, making it easier to sort through all your items with custom filters. These filters are saved to the Steam Cloud and are available anywhere!

In total, First Blood comes with 88 changes worth mentioning, which means a boatload of game fixes and tweaks. Take a look at their snazzy update page to be prepared for this update.
