New Everquest Server Announced

It seems that rumors of Everquest's death are greatly exagerated. Admit it, much like me, you may flirt with that pretty new game on the block, but in the end you always come back to your true EQ love. (a little Valentine's day reference for you). A new server has been brought online. Here's the press release: ------------ Sony Online Entertainment Announces New EverQuest Server, Mordern Rasp! Due to the increased traffic brought about by the Gates of Discord expansion this week, we are pleased to announce the newest EverQuest server, Morden Rasp! This new server is available immediately and is a standard rule set server available for new characters or for character transfer with items (see http://store.station.sony.com/eq_char_item_moves/). We apologize for the lack of advance notification but it was important for SOE to increase the number of EverQuest servers quickly to ensure a great weekend of EQ gaming. To all of our new and returning EverQuest players we would like to extend a warm "Welcome Home". Hope to see you online!

LoY,LDoN,GoD crap expansions no real time or effort put in to the design, recycled graphics, boring look alike zones. How many weeks did it take LDoN to become boring and repetitive for most people? 3? 4? How much time you spend in LoY these days?
Compare these expansions to Velious,Luclin and PoP. Sony has clearly moved most of their creative resources away from EQ and on to other projects. EQ has become a bore for the level 65 player, throwing us scraps like LDoN and GoD is not going to keep us interested.

Boring For a level 65 char?
Are you kidding?
Those three expansions you mentioned
are a bore for a level 13 character!

As long as you understand that you are being manipulated, you can do the same, and
as long as they continue to exploit, you will
do the same.
But then again, they justify their exploitation by pointing out that the world is out to exploit them, even though they have no proof, or real methods of prevention.

Does this mean we can transfer our toons off our current crappy aged server onto the brand spankin new server for free? Of course not, where's the stick-it-in-you-and-break-it-off business mentality in that?

this shouldnt be to bad. A new server will mean new people (maybe hot "new" people but you know what i mean) free from higher levels to camp a spot just to powerlevel 1 single person. It should also releive some of the people who go around calling people "noobs" because they dont have good equipment and the such, because guess what ... they wont have good equipment either hahaha. there should be one server where it restarts like every 6 months or so (maybe even 1 month) sort of like a ladder server and it shows stats so whover is the best by the end or so will have there name in rank 1. just looking for things to say in the site ill go type somewhere else now. nwew server ... cool

I doubt this has anything to do with "population" because of this expansion. Sounds like they are trying to throw a spin on the death of a giant... either that or they found a use for the hardware from that lame *** "hard core" server.

What fun!

I had a blast creating a gnome necromancer who preceded to die at least 5 times before she finally managed to kill something. I destroyed my newbie dagger because I looted a rusty weapon with better stats before finding out I couldn't equip it. I laughed so hard I was crying when I died, popped up at my home point only to die once again to a skeleton. I grouped with other low levels which was fun. The paladin would fight a couple of mobs, use Lay on Hands then use dying to come back to full health. I haven't had such fun at low levels ever. I even managed to ding 8 this morning.

I joined Stromm last year and have had a blast. For me the end game gets to be a boring time sink about 90ptc of the time.
If Sony wants to kill dieing servers and restart every 6 months I would be happy with it.

I made a toon just to see whatw as going on there and found myself having a great time, with no one in a secure position of power and controlling everything; except for the multiple GM events in variuos places with a Rubicite Breastplate for the winner.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 14 2004 at 4:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) so, did they not allow a server move (/move)because this was truly such an emergency (omg, overflowing servers...that hasn't happened before!)...or because they're afraid a whole guild would move from each of the servers thinking they'd own the new place, and then find out there's even more guilds than on their server..and then everyone gets mad and begs to move back....or because they're being greedy and pushing the "server transfer with items" option?...

Greed sounds like a good motive to me !!!
