MvP (MLG vs Proleague) Day Two

A round up of all the Starcraft II action from the second day of battle

Series II - Alicia P vs Jaedong Z

Game  I

Alicia, the latest addition to the Kong line, begins his broadcasted MvP journey against the man who rarely tastes second place, Jaedong.

Alicia opens the proceedings with a four gate pressure with phoenix support, but it is shut down before it can even get off the ground by Jaedong’s Zerglings denying the forward pylons.

With Alicia on the back foot he attempts to just use his phoenixes in the most cost efficient way possible by taking down two queens along multiple overlords and drones.

Both then proceed into taking their late game tech and play a passive style with small Zergling and Phoenix harass.

Alicia attempts the anti-greater spire timing with a three colossus push but with an already established spine crawler wall and a corrupter count Jaedong is able to hold on until his Brood Lords can join the fray.

With Jaedong’s brood lord army established Alicia attempts to use warp prism harass in the main and using his army to flank north to kill Jaedong’s fifth mining base.

However, Jaedong knows Alicia cannot take a direct fight without a mothership and takes down his fourth base and forces the engagement at the graveyard of Alicia’s fourth base.

Alicia cannot get the perfect vortex and Jaedong locks down the archons from even entering the half filled vortex with fungals diminishing Alicia’s chance in the fight and the game. GG.

Game II

The first series goes to Jaedong but can Alicia get his first win of the broadcasted MvP tallied up or will Jaedong continue on with his dominance after dropping just a single map to Naniwa?

With Jaedong denying Alicia’s opening build last time around he decides to resort to just the heavy phoenix play, causing damage as before but without the commitment of the four gate.

They both then proceed into taking their further expansions and develop their respective colossus and hive tech.

Alicia attempts to force some two pronged aggression onto Jaedong with a Zealot flank to his third base and his colossus army onto the fourth. With well placed spine crawlers and an abundance of zerglings and roaches from the early game, neither attack is able to accomplish the damage needed to make it a worthy investment as Alicia loses approximately eight zealots.

The end game fights are where the main action really comes into play, both players trade armies back and forth as they attempt to gain that overwhelming advantage but neither is able to convert it into a win.

Alicia has a very strong push that kills the majority of Jaedong’s brood lords at twenty five minutes, but fails to kill a targeted base which survives with a single hit point.

The twenty ninth minute push from Jaedong seals the game with a great neural parasite onto the mothership followed by a vortex that catches Alicia’s entire army.

With a few well placed fungals and the brood lord’s sieged above the army, Alicia drops below one hundred supply to a maxed Jaedong. GG.
