Diablo III Beta Planned for Summer 2011

During Activision Blizzard's recent earnings call, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime stated that the company is planning to launch external beta testing in Q3 of this year. Bashiok later clarified the comment on the official Diablo III forums:

"The 3rd quarter reference in the earning's call today was a calendar quarter, meaning that we're aiming to launch the Diablo III beta between July 1st and September 30th. Keep in mind that it's our current goal, and of course that can change as development continues."

It looks like there's a light at the end of the tunnel for Diablo III fans. Of course, an official launch date has not been announced, so we'll have to wait and see if the game is ultimately released in 2011 or 2012.

please tell me that they are going ot put in that the player who creates that particular game instead of joining on in progress can set certain rules; such as whether or not pvp is allowed, or if bosses such as the cow king can be killed by late joiners... This was something that really pissed me off when playing d2... folks would come in, completely disregard what I said even with the name I gave my game, and went after the cow king and thereby blocking me from being able to do so should I decide that I wanted to do that in a game I created on battlenet... As well the current ability to report spammers that Wow has should be implemented as well; I've lost track of the number of times I have been distracted while fighting a boss because of some dumbass coming into my game and spamming their garbage then leaving... I know some will say it's just a game, but if they want to pull that crap, they can do it in a game they created, and stay the hell out of mine.
