ZAM Interviews TERA Stress Testers

We find out some specifics about TERA gameplay from players who participated in the Korean stress test.

We had a chance to sit down and talk to our friends over at TeraWorld about their experiences with the TERA Korean stress test.  They agreed to answer a few of our questions and help shine some light on what kind of gaming experience TERA has to offer. Of course, just as a reminder, the Korean version of the game will differ slightly from the westernized version for North American and European players. Keep reading after the jump for all the details!

ZAM:  What kind of latency did you experience? How did this affect your ability to effectively play both PvE and PvP?

TeraWorld:  Here in Spain we don't have the fastest connections in the world and playing on a Korean server, the ping can be annoying. In PvE this is not a big problem; you can still play almost normally, but you lose your speed attack (and it shows a lot in fast classes). But in PvP, where you need to be much more accurate, it can actually become a problem. It was very difficult to duel Koreans. You were at a disadvantage.

ZAM:  Did you level up on quests (and monsters you had to kill while doing them) or did you reach a point where you felt you should grind XP in order to continue on efficiently?

TeraWorld:  The maximum level reached by one of us was 25 and so far it is entirely possible to level doing quests. Even sometimes you have more than enough quests to level and keep in mind that we couldn't do all of the quests sinc we don't understand Korean.

We would also like to add that it is advisable to do quests as it goes faster and is required to access certain group quests, which after level 20 start to appear consistently to prome group play. It should be noted that we have only visited four regions (including the city of Velika), so you see the game will have lots of content.

ZAM:  Do the various classes play extremely different or do they each fall closely together within their own respective archtype (tank, healer, etc.)?

TeraWorld:  Each class has very defined roles that fit well with what is expected of their archetype. The priest heals, the lancer is a pure tank, the sorcerer is a devastating nuker, etc.  Perhaps the most unusual is the mystic, who does many different things.

ZAM:  Were you making enough money from questing and leveling to stay current on equipment and ability training?

TeraWorld:  With the money you make questing and killing mobs, you will have more than enough to acquire new skills. The first major expense you face in the game is to buy a mount at level 20 and can be done without too much trouble if you have not wasted money. We also have to add that we did not craft during the stress test.
