This icy planet hosts some incredibly powerful crystals that both the Jedi and the Sith have been eyeing for quite some time.

It's Friday, so you know that means it's time for another Star Wars: The Old Republic Update! This time around, the team has introduced the icy planet of Ilum, a desolate and hostile world where some of the Galaxy's most powerful Lightsaber crystals grow. Both the Jedi and the Sith have long been interested in these Lightsaber crystals, but because the Jedi first discovered these powerful crystals, Ilum was established as a place for powerful Jedi seeking to construct new Lightsabers and for Jedi Masters to meditate in solitude.

Unfortunately, this peace was not to last long, as the Sith Empire had learned of the planet's location and attacked Ilum with an incredible force of ground troops and Sith, destorying all Jedi members on the planet. Now, as the Republic army has been spread too thin to take back Ilum, recent intelligence indicates that the Sith have launched some large-scale operations on Ilum -- far beyond that of simply harvesting the Lightsaber crystals.

Could Ilum be a planet of more importance than the Jedi originally believed? We're guessing this will be something of an endgame content planet, but who knows!
