Surviving Aion's World PvP: Part I

In Part I of II, follow Editor Chris "Pwyff" Tom as he explores Aion's World PvP Vision and some small tips as to how you can survive it

Alert the Public!

Yes, I realize that I just said that nobody would help you, but it certainly doesn't hurt to quickly let everyone know what's going on. If you spot an enemy or if you're killed by an enemy, at least watch out for other low level players by warning them - you can do this by simply opening up your map, holding CTRL and right clicking your location. This will immediately link that location in whatever chat mode you're in, and players can then click the location link to be shown that same location.

Simply let everyone in the area (or the LFG channel if you really want to) know where the enemies are, and then you can figure out how to save yourself.

Make a Chat Radar!

Affectionately known as the "Chatdar" amongst most players, the Chat Radar is essentially the act of creating a new chatbox that exclusively spits out enemy actions. Often times, a player's actions will appear in this chatbox before you even see the enemy himself, and this can help a player prepare himself before the actual attack. If you can learn to read abilities and learn level ranges, you can also get the enemy's class and level from the "Chatdar." Unfortunately, the Chatdar does not register distance or direction, and you should be aware that most PvPers rely heavily on the Chatdar, so you should assume that if you can "read" them, they can "read" you.

You can create a chat radar by simply right clicking your chat box tab and clicking "add tab." When the new tab options come up, expand the "Combat - Others" tab, and enable all of the "Enemy" chat filters. You can also change the text color to a bright color for easier reading, and voilà! Just drag this chat to a noticeable area in your UI and the moment you see bright text in that box, you'll instantly know that an enemy is nearby!

Curing Potions, Running Scrolls are your best friends.

While I will also cover other consumables in our next article, do realize that Curing Potions and Running Scrolls should enable you to escape if you're not completely overwhelmed. Try to wait until the player throws out one of his "Crowd Control" spells, like a Spiritmaster's Fear, or a Ranger's Sleep Shot before you chug your Curing Potion. The moment you do that, also use a Running Scroll and try to beeline for the nearest cover you can find.

And that's all for this week for survival tips in Aion - next time I'll add a plethora of new survival tips for those of you who are new to World PvP in MMOs, so in the meantime, keep your eyes on the skies, and run whenever you see a shadow!
