Ayase: Vision Trailer Is Not a Patch/Expansion

Community Manager Sebastian "Ayase" Streiffert has been using his Twitter page to shed some light on the Aion Vision trailer that was released last week. In case you missed it, watch the video to see glimpses of improved graphics, player housing, swimming, mounts, and more.

If you're wondering when all of that will be implemented, it looks like there's no estimated release date for these changes. "The vision trailer is not a specific patch/expansion - it's a vision of what we're hoping to get out there in the future," Ayase said. He also confirmed in another post that it's a work in progress without any current ETA.

In response to a player who said the trailer is just meant to keep players occupied to ignore Aion's flaws, Ayase said the team simply wanted "to share our excitement and what we're working on!" What are your thoughts on the Vision trailer and Ayase's comments?

Pretty on the eyes, but hollow?

Not to be a "grinch", but it sounds a little "bait and switch". Don't throw out "this is what coming in the future" then say theres no time line, we hope to get there. Sounds like your throwing all the pretty toys out for everyone to look at but when ya get down to it, none of the toys work. Don't lead the community on saying , this is where we are going, jump on board, when the boat plans aren't even drawn up. The game is good now, few flaws, no biggies. Just tell me, this is where we are the game is done in our eyes, that way new players can decide, stay or go.

I am relatively certain that the trailer was made using other software on a VERY high-end commercial machine, as they did with at least one trailer that was released pre-launch. That said, it is still a very promising glimpse into where they hope to take this game and gives many glimpses into new content/features that are "in the works". It remains to be seen whether the future can live up to the vision.
