Tradeskill Data Collection

I'm building the back end of the tradeskill database at the moment, and in an effort to ensure that I cover all possibilities I'd like to collect as much data as possible ahead of hand. What we do understand is this: 3 tradeskills currently, armor crafting, weaponcrafting, jewelcraft. In each tradeskill, you may advance 10 ranks, upon which you advance a "tradeskill level". Essentially 100 steps. There are 10 Base ingredients for each tradeskill. JC is Iron Bronze Steel Copper Silver Electrum Gold Platinum Adamatite Mithril Special for example. Combining a block of the metal, with a mold will result in an item, presuming you succeed on the combine. You may additionally add a dropped component to the combine to grant the item additional statistics to it. This leads me to believe that we can pre-calculate portions of the tradeskills and tradeskill items available to crafters and players in the game. What I need though, is more information, so if you're a crafter, or have played with it, please post here: Tradeskill, Tradeskill Level, Tradeskill Rank, Metal Used, Mold Used, Gem (if any used). Thanks!

I'm looking for some armor recipes. If any of you have any, could you please share them or direct me to a site that has some. I've been to tradecenter already. Another way of getting the recipes to me is by mailing me in game.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Recipes
# Jan 15 2004 at 8:51 PM Rating: Default
at lvl 1 you can make all crude iron armour (excludes shields)
at lvl 2 you can make bronze stuff including some shields
at lvl 3 you can make brass stuff including some shields
at lvl 4 you can make stuff with different metal
at lvl 5 you can make stuff with steel, you can also for the first time add gems to increase stats on armour.
for level 6 and up you can do the same as lvl 5 with different metals.
The best way to learn what you can and cannot do is to expirement. The price for metals also matches the lvl req. The more it cost the higher lvl you need. for example crude iron cost 20gp and can be used at lvl 1, bronze is next highest and is used at lvl 2. As i said the best thing to do is to expirement

i am a level 4 rank 6 weapons smith you can only make mundane weapons until you reach level 2 smith after that you can add a droped weapon gem or weapon alloy (ie) iron + mold + gem / alloy 3 items only till you get to combine steel depending on the properties of the droped item these properties will be transfered to the weapon some combinations require quite a few tries so far the rarest weapon i have made uses this recipe metal block+mold+malign alloy

I really cant help you with anything but Jewelry. Which is really easy and pretty fun. All you have to do is buy or farm(kill things) for gems. When you have them just expairament. At L1 you can only use Iron, and only use common gems. If you get uncommon dont sell them. No matter how much someone will pay you. Jewelry crafting costs a lot of money so I would just stick to it, and sell all other gems for money. You can always find people willing to pay 1k per gem. This will keep you able to buy and make Jewelry. So you have your common gems and your Iron and a mold, then you just start adding them together. Almost always you need metel of some kind. When you are making something and it says you failed your gem does not get distroyed, which is really cool. But you will have to rebuy iron and the mold. When you start at L1 you will only get about 1,200xp per item, I started by waiting til I got four of one gem, and making a ring, brac., pen., and ear. So that I always knew what I had and still need. The game does not put them in any order other than when you made them. The first ones you want to make are the Glass Iron's. You can buy glass at a store. They normally yeild less than half what a normal craft would give you. L1 is the hardest so far that I have seen. I am, as of two hours ago, L3.0 in jewelry. And it took me forever to get past L1, because you cant use uncommon gems, only common. When you do finally hit L2 you will go up to Bronze and be able to use uncommon gems. The will cause you to shoot up in rank super fast. You will start by getting 12k for common gems, and 24k for uncommon. And they will go down the more you do, so by 2.7 you will be getting 9.8k for common and 18k for uncommon. If you are at 2.9 and you dont have gems, and dont feel like farming for them, or paying a butt load, do what I did. I sat and made glass iron for about a half hour. I only got 4.5k for each one but it did push me up to L3. You will have to make about four to equal one uncommon. But its worth it. It ended up costing me 2k. but I can easly make that up buy selling two gems. But as far as what you had to say Lost Player, you dont NEED recipes, cuz once you get the concept down, you will understand how to make it. And recipes would just be duh type of thing. L1 take a common gem, iron, and mold, and add them together. Eqoa will tell you if its good or not. Hope I helped a bit with Jewelry Crafting!
How's it coming along

There are people in every town that will teach you how to craft. I dont think any of you people that have really wanted to learn how to craft having not went to them. They will be able to tell you better than anyone here on here how to craft. Recipes are not what you need. You need a crafting concept. All crafting is done the same, you just need to learn what is interchangeable. In jewelry, depending on what Level you are, is what metel you can use. L1 Iron, L2 Bronze, ect. You can see this in your menu screen. Then you have your mold, ring, brac., pen., or ear. Then you have a gem, common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare. L1 C. only. L2 C and UC. And so on. Then you just add them together with a mold. Its not hard. I tell everyone, jewelry is the easyest and fastest to learn. It does cost more, but money is not hard to come by. So go to a crafter of jewelry let them train you. There is one in Freeport, by the bank and the smith, if you walk outside the north exit and follow the wall. Talk to them and they will get you started with tools and know-how. Any questions, E-mail Lohendra@Direns Hold
Why cant i make this stuff
# Aug 24 2003 at 10:18 PM Rating: Default
I am confused. No one has posted this so i am thinking i am the only one having this problem.

I cannot make Crude Iron ;
Mace , Foil , 2H axe, 2H Hammer, or Long Sword

I use one Block of Crude Iron and one Mold of the appropriate type. And it tells me these items do not combine to make anything. I have started new characters with the same result. What am i doing wrong. Every site i look at says Block + Mold is the way for every weapon. So am i bugged??
RE: Why cant i make this stuff
# Sep 01 2003 at 12:33 AM Rating: Default
In case you haven't figured it out yet it is because those items are not used at the lower skill lvls much so they cannot be made by low skill lvl player characters. The few that can be used would likely be specials made with rusty iron or the like instead of crude. Not sure about that though.

Be sure u have the proper tool equiped, in your case a smithing hammer. It's an obvoious suggestion but its all I can think that would be wrong.

Important Tradeskill Information
# Aug 07 2003 at 9:41 AM Rating: Good
Just a reminder to all us players, some know this already but here is what I cut and pasted strait from Sony's own EQOA web site.

Also, while you are crafting, you may wish to consider your character's statistics and how they affect the possible success or failure of your attempt. Following is the list of what does what:

Weapon Craft
Primary - Strength
Secondary - Dexterity

Armor Craft
Primary - Stamina
Secondary - Strength

Jewel Craft
Primary - Intelligence
Secondary - Charisma
Proc List
# Aug 07 2003 at 12:30 AM Rating: Excellent
Hey, I Just want to tell you all of the proc gems and alloys i've personally used in weapons and their effects.

Volatile Mana Crystals = Make Volatile Weapons
/Approx. 26 dmg poison/continues until death(not sure on that)

Ectoplasmic Crystals = Make Cursed Weapons
/Approx. 66 direct damage, higher on undead type creatures

Magnesium Alloy = Make Fiery Weapons
/Approx. 20 direct damage (not sure on that)

Dervish Ice Crystals = Make Freezing Weapons
/Approx. 35-60 direct damage (I found a weird bug. If you put these crystals into a shortsword, it makes a FIERY shortsword, identical to a shortsword made with magnesium alloy even in its proc...)

Well, that's it. Later folks... Add to this list if you want!

Open the recipie window for any of the trade skills and at the very top of the box (seems as though they tried to hide it) in the frame will be your current level for that type of trade skill. Took me almost a week before I saw it.

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy/find additional recipies, or can you only figure out what's possible by experimenting or grabbing info from the net?

in my limited experience, you can only experiment, but there is probably some place some where where you can buy recipes, otherwise why have the NPCs train you in how to use an unused recipe?
