PC Gamer UK Reveals New Cataclysm Details

The newest edition of PC Gamer UK contains some new Cataclysm information that Editor Tim Edwards was able to pry from Blizzard when he took a trip to the company's headquarters after BlizzCon. WoW.com has outlined the new details from the article, which covers the Goblin and Worgen starting zones, the four new raids, and what's happening with the Horde.

If you don't mind reading some spoilers, the main information from the article can be found after the jump. If you'd rather be surprised, don't click that "more" link. You can read the full article by purchasing the newest issue of PC Gamer UK or get more information by listening to this PC Gamer podcast.

According to WoW.com, here's what you can expect to see in Cataclysm:

  • The Worgen starting zone begins in a flashback. "You meet a dissenter, Crowley, who believes that Gilneas' isolationism is a mistake and that they should rejoin the Alliance." The curse then takes you as you're fighting your friends and neighbors, and Crowley ultimately captures you a few months later.
  • Goblins start on Kezan as a successful member of society. You trade your money for safe passage to the mainland after Kezan begins to fall, but the Trade Prince tries to sell you into slavery instead. This is where the shipwreck happens, which we covered in our preview of the race at BlizzCon.
  • Garrosh is the new leader of the Horde, and he's redesigned Orgrimmar and evicted all but the Orcs and Tauren from the center of the city.
  • The ruins of Lordaeron will be expanded.
  • Stranglethorn will be one of the zones that receives the most alterations.
  • The four new raids will be more like Naxx. Deathwing won't be one of the launch raids.

How I'm not sure about you.

So with his change to Orgrimmar, does that mean Trolls get a starting town? OR are we now the street bums that live on the outskirts of town?
-.- Troll Pride!

Since the posting says that Stranglethorn Vale will be overhauled and that zone has a lot of Trolls in it, I'm thinking that maybe the Trolls will have their own city in that zone. That would definitely be cool.

If that does in fact happen, perhaps that also means that the Gnomes will reclaim Gnomeregan as well. They have indicated that several lower level dungeons would be changed, but they could certainly eliminate one as well.

Having Trolls and Gnomes in their own cities would probably allow for more quests to earn reputation with those factions, which I have seen several players asking for over the years anyway.

Just a thought of course, but it could be interesting...

Given the Troll's history as the benefactors of Thrall's mercy, it's no wonder that Garrosh would view them as weak. But indeed, Troll pride. Looks like my trolls (All five of them once Trolls can be druids) will be leaning more towards any and all storyline quests that deal with Saurfang and Thrall, not Garrosh.
