Massachusetts Celebrates Video Game Innovation

As we reported, the San Diego City Council proclaimed March 16 "Sony Online Entertainment Day" in the city to coincide with the 10th anniversary of EverQuest. Well, Massachusetts Gov. Deval L. Patrick made a similar proclamation yesterday by naming Sept. 9 as "Video Game Innovation Day" in the state.

Kevin Parrish of Tom's Guide noticed the proclamation focused heavily on the release Haromix's The Beatles: Rock Band, which also came out yesterday. While the governor's words may sound more like an advertisement for the game than a true celebration of video game innovation, it's still great to see gaming receive such a high level of recognition.

It's also important to note that while it's not mentioned in the proclamation, Massachusetts-based Turbine released the free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited on "Video Game Innovation Day." Congratulations, Turbine!
