Tradeskills Database

Ok, we are in the process of getting together a database for tradeskills and faction, if you want to go ahead and send in recipies and drop information for gems, please send them to haggan@allakhazam.com. Be sure to include your ingame name to get proper credit. And please realize that there will be many submissions, and the first on that appears in my inbox gets credit for it, despite how many other people have sent it in. Thanks for your understanding, and helping make this website what it is. Haggan

Hey, i was wondering if anyone knows when they are going to launch the carpentry tradeskill. I heard that cerpentry is what you have to use to get staff weapons( which is what my necro has to use other than 1h weapons). If anyone has any idea please let me know here or in game. Thanks

The negative energy stone isn't as rare as you might think it is one of the rarer gems, however, even so I'm sure quite a few people have them. I know I do. the same goes for vicious vampires blood which I also have as well.

I have never found any Vampires blood, but I have found some (2) Eternal myst. Looks like it is in a vial, and I have not used it yet so I don't know what it dose. I will let you know when I do.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 18 2003 at 7:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I can see that the techs are busy doing something alright. the have added pop-ups to the site. When are the recipes for the trade skills comming? it seems like its been weeks that we all have been waitng. Oh and please dont tell me you have to pay for the site with pop-ups. I try to use the adverisers when I can.

WEll, obviously you havent had experience running a website... Let alone a free one. This is how it works with the free ones just so you know.

When making a website that people don't have to pay for there are 2 options. Find a site that offers free webpages (yahoo, angelfire) which are usually crappy, have pop-ups without choice, and crappy interfaces that supposedly help you create a page without script knowledge.

Or, pay for a name from some E-commerce agent, and build it from the ground up, line by line of script and codes.

Now you obviously cant make a website as good as this with a simple web page creator given out by some companie to get you to make a web page there. So obviously you would have to shell out cash for the name. This usually isn't that expensive, but still it's not free. Then you have to either know script, or pay someone who does. Either way not fun, or cheap. Third, you need to find a place that will store your database in the right conditions. This can run upwards of over a couple grand if you don't have one yourself... which most don't btw. Database computers, or computers in general tha run 24 hours a day, have very specific conditions need. Like controlled temp, dry air and the such. Finally add in the cost of electricity and someone to be on call in case the server falls, and you have a pretty expensive cost, and NO PROFIT!! So what to do?

Well you advertise with headers, and popups. Which btw are not programmed by the founders of the site but by the advertiser. Which means the site admin just had to install a program. So really they are working on a data base, and not working on advertisement.

The other thing you do is charge a premium to get rid of these things. You offer special things like contests, advanced searching and ad free browsing. Besides who are you to biotch? You use this thing for free, either pay for the premium, get anti pop-up software or shut the hell up.

But hey, if capitolism bothers you then maybe you should move to the mideast. I hear there if you are lucky and rich, you can get burned copies of video games and pay twice the amount for them. And you still will have pop-ups on your dam computer. Bon voyage!

Crafted weapons slot type
# Jul 15 2003 at 10:00 AM Rating: Excellent
I have been told by someone that made me a VERY nice 2hs that crafted weapons can ONLY be for the "PRIMARY" weapon slot. I am a Ranger and needed 2 (two) 1 HS swords for my combanation attacks (They require them). However, the person making them said he had discovered all your crafted weapons (rares only???) are primary. This meant that him making me two would have been silly as I could have only used the one. I personally feel this is an oversight on the part of SOE. I got him to make me a 2HS Longsword "Cursed Adamantite Flamberge" instead. It's nice, but I'd love to be able to use it in conjunction with my special attacks. Ohh-well. I sent Haggan a mail with the recipe for it, but since I couldn't see the guys tradecrafting window, I couldn't see if it was uncommon, rare, or ultra-rare. So someone else can make it and send him an update on that. I am currently only Lev-36, and very poor, so I am only at Lev 5.1 in weaponcrafting so far...'sigh'. My suggestion as far as the database goes is to have a separate section for gems and alloys, etc. broken down by type, alphabetical, and linked like "items" are with zone and mob drop info as well as room for comments like this one.\

Everyone take care and happy crafting!!!

Hey all, still pretty new to the everquest game. So, what’s the idea behind the tradeskills thing? Do you basically just keep making the same items over and over to gain your experience? How do you find new recipes other than experimenting? Do I have to be a level 3 jeweler to make level 3 jewelry? How does that work? Is there a pretty common pattern to the recipies?,.. or is it pretty random? By the way, great website. Looking forward to seeing recipes posted.
RE: tradeskills
# Jul 15 2003 at 11:36 AM Rating: Decent
yes, u keep making stuff over and over and u gain experience therefore attain higher lvls and ranks. u get more experience if u make "rare" stuff. u can only make stuff that is of your lvl and below. the only way to attain new recipes into your recipe book is by experimenting. but obviously u can find out other people's recipes, and apply it in your own experimenting, which takes the guesswork out of it.
when?

Drops
# Jul 12 2003 at 12:58 PM Rating: Excellent
Okay, This is my own experience as far as component drops go.

I have a couple mid-lvl chars, and a few low lvls, and one I started after the tradeskill update. I played each one a bit and in different zones to see what I could find out. Let me know if this helps.

It seems that there is no actual formula for the drops. It appears to be completely random, other than the fact that the more "rare" a gem or component the more unlikely it is to drop. Good drop sites that i have found so far. Trees in Bandit Hills (Are they bad for anything really?), The Lake outside of he Shon-To Monastery, and various "wildlife" of tunaria.

Somethings do drop componenets more than others, and it seems that those that drop more are creatures not involved in any quest of any sort.

Regarding your charcter's lvl to drops, it seems there isn't one. I played my 22 Ranger and 21 Warrior for a couple hours and the best stuff I got was components that proc elements and disease for weapons. Sounds good right? Thats what I thought, then I made a new char. Within 5 minutes, I found an Emerald (for Jewelry). It gives PoT and sells to Merchants for 200+ tunar!! So sad to say, I think the only advantage to lvl's is more hunting grounds, which in turn 'might' give a chance at some unique components.

As far as making things. It's pretty simple, start of easy, cheapest materials, simple molds, and common components. Save your good gems (like my Emerald!) until you can make some decent higher lvl stuff.

Well, I hope that this was at least informative, and if anything is wrong; then I apologize this was to the best of my knowledge and only on personal experience and no confirmed material.

Oh yeah, almost forgot for all you people out there.

Stats DO affect you ability to create items. I don't know the formula, but the satas tha are applicable are as follows:

Weaponsmithing:
Strength = Primary Dexterity = Secondary

Armor Crafting:
Stamina = Primary Strength = Secondary

Jewelry Crafting:
Intelligence = Primary Charisma = Secondary

This is actual information based off the official SONY Everquest site, so these stats definately influence your success rate of combining materials.

It seems I was a tad bit wrong. Certain things do drop certain gems, and there are common gems that drop just about everywhere.

I found another good drop spot for gems the other day. Hanging at the undead farmers in Jared's Blight, I found ethereal mist. I forgot exactly what it does, but I remember it being good for weapons. I thought I had stumbled across a fairly rare item, but the next thing we killed had the same component. Too bad I'm not makin weapons, but my guild mate will be happy!!

--EDIT--
Ethereal Mists procs Life stealing to weapons (not sure, but 99.99% sure thats what happens.)

It would be interesting to see a journal type system set up where members could request types of weapons, armor, or jewelry and people with quality skills in those areas could offer then make those items and contact the people that wanted them. For instance, I could post that I wanted a two-handed sword with +intellligence and POT stats that can be used by casters level 30+ (I know, I'm dreaming!!!), and post my contact info as well (name and server). Somebody, if they made one, could contact me and sell it. I do not know if this is possible, and yes I know auctions will be available sometime in the future (but when will that be??!?). But, it'd be cool just the same.
