Dev Diary Outlines Open Missions

Content Designer Adam Lee has written a developer's diary for IGN that discusses the open missions system in Champions Online. According to Lee, open missions are missions you can automatically get when you enter an area, and you can work with other players toward completing the common goal or just do your own thing. "This gives solo players a chance to play some team oriented content without actually having to join a team," he said.

Each open mission is comprised of numerous stages. The first stage is simple and could be completed by a solo player, but each task gets progressively harder and requires more players. According to Lee, some final objectives will only take five heroes, while others will take 20.

As for rewards, your loot is tied to your participation. Each players received points for what you contributed to the main objective. For example, you'll get more points for killing harder enemies than weaker ones. "The top three contributors will be awarded special items while the remaining contributors receive normal loot drops, so everyone who participates will be awarded something," Lee said.
