DDO Compendium Gets New Look, Features

As we reported, the Dungeons & Dragons Web site received a makeover a little more than a month ago. Well, now it's the Compendium's turn, which just received a new look and new features.

You can read all about the updates to the compendium after the jump or in the release notes. For example, the search function now has an auto-complete feature.

Also, in case you missed it, feel free to check out Sam "azerian" Maxted's journey into DDO as he gives the game a second chance. Read his editorial to see his thoughts on the current status of the game.

Welcome to the Compendium. We are pleased to provide you with several new features including a new look, auto-complete in the search field, and parsers! Existing information, such as enhancements and feats, have also been improved upon!

New Features

  • The standard search field on the navigation bar now has an auto-complete feature. Type in three or more letters, and a list of possible matches in the official content will appear. Selecting a match will forward you to the appropriate article or advanced search result page.
  • Some people have been asking for the MediaWiki parser functions; sadly, we could find no reference to them in any of Stormreach's libraries. However, an unusual looking Warforged informed us that he has equipped the Compendium with these parsers. Perhaps you can make something out of them...

Bug Fixes

  • When using the Item Advanced Search, icons for weapons and armor were linking to the wrong place. They have been properly chastised and will now link to the same location as their textual brother.

Feature Enhancements

  • The Enhancements section in class articles now display links to to other feats/enhancements that are granted when you take the enhancement.
  • Feat articles now list any prerequisites required to take the feat.
  • Sub-feats, e.g., weapon proficiencies, are rolled up nicely into one article now.
    • This extends to class and race articles; the class will only list the particular sub-feats you get. e.g., Drow Elves list only the Shuriken for the exotic weapon proficiency feat.
