Will Champions Online contain microtransactions? When the folks over at Eurogamer tried to access the "Champions Store" in the beta test, the got an error message containing the word "microtransactions," so they went straight to Cryptic for a comment.

According to a statement sent to Eurogamer by the developer, they are "currently testing functionality for in-game transactions." The statement then went further: "Virtual asset sales are a necessary component of the greater Cryptic platform since we plan on working on a number of different titles using our technology platform. At present we do not have any finalised plans for how and if these will be implemented in future releases."

So to sum it up, it looks like Cryptic is testing microtransactions, but has no concrete plans on whether the system will actually be in the game. Champions Online will be released for PC on July 14.
