Troves of New Treasures Await You!

It's a feeling every adventurer knows and loves—the heart-racing excitement of discovering a chest stocked full of untold riches. With the forthcoming version update, players can look forward to experiencing this thrill anew with the introduction of the "Treasure Casket," a new type of treasure chest that will hold wonders for those fortunate enough to chance upon one!

Where can I find them?

Treasure Caskets will present themselves on rare occasions only in certain areas which are part of the original FINAL FANTASY XI package. They will not appear in any expansion areas.

How do I open them?

Depending on their fortunes, adventurers may encounter either unlocked Treasure Caskets or locked ones. Unlocked caskets will open readily, allowing treasure hunters to immediately get their hands on the desired loot. Locked caskets will present a more formidable challenge, in the form of a numerical combination lock that you and your party members will have to rack your brains to solve. So sharpen those wits and have your puzzle-solving skills at the ready!

What treasures will they hold?

Unlocked caskets will contain an assortment of temporary items to assist you in your battles. Locked caskets will house a variety of equipment and items, and for the most fortunate adventurers, even exclusive equipment not to be found elsewhere!
What riches lie in wait for you? You'll just have to track down one of these Treasure Caskets and see for yourself. Happy treasure-hunting!

They way Playonline describes the castkets is a random drop from EXP granting MOBs. you not going to find one just passing through so RMTs are SOL there.

It's on the Playonline website not the caption above

This is the Exact Quote from Playonline

"On rare occasions, defeating enemies in the following areas will yield a Treasure Casket:
West Ronfaure / East Ronfaure / La Theine Plateau / Valkurm Dunes / Jugner Forest / Batallia Downs / North Gustaberg / South Gustaberg / Konschtat Highlands / Pashhow Marshlands / Rolanberry Fields / Xarcabard / Beaucedine Glacier / West Sarutabaruta / East Sarutabaruta / Tahrongi Canyon / Buburimu Peninsula / Meriphataud Mountains / Sauromugue Champaign / Qufim Island / Behemoth's Dominion

There are two varieties of Treasure Caskets, locked and unlocked. Unlocked caskets will contain temporary items that can only be used in the area in which they were acquired, while locked caskets will contain non-temporary items and equipment.

I wouldn't quite go that far SE, but yes it is nice when exp-ing in places like CN, or Kuftal and the pty open's a nearby chest for 5-12k each. I find its a nice way of raising party moral >.>

omgz rmt! In every mentioning of something new that everyone can have fun with someone has to bring up RMT. WTF is wrong with you nay-sayers? How about this idea? SE scratches EVERYTHING from the Auction House and makes EVERYTHING rare/ex and easily obtainable. Subjobs are eliminated to tell the difference between players who are level 47 with no sub and normal players. Gil is eliminated and everything is free by obtaining a quest. Trading is banned. I wish I could punch you in the face for even mentioning this:

If you mean it in a positive or negative way, I still stand by calling you an offensive word I'll refuse to post. Bring them back to the original areas? I play in both original AND post expansion areas and I see suspected rmt every day. I just ignore them and quest my items or buy it off the AH.

...

What about bringing NORMAL and HONEST players back to the pr- expansion/ original areas?
damn dude... Look. I'm sorry for going off but if you ARE rmt and you are reading this post. I know how you can manipulate this treasure chest hunting event. Go to google and download a program that changes your EX equipments/items into NON-EX items/equipments. Or suffocate. Either option is good and should bring your family money both ways, assuming you have life insurance.

The picture looks like La Thaine Plateau. Do you think it does also? I rarely see experience points parties in there.

They said the treasures will be exclusive... I really doubt RMT are going to go into all the trouble to sit around and hunt these chests, hope they solve the puzzle, only for the chance to get some equipment they can't sell.

You could argue almost anything good for the playerbase is good for RMT, since they need to play the game too...except banning of course.

Not all of the equipment will be EX, only some for "fortunate" players. I agree with you, RMT's probably won't bother anyway, but there will be some equipment dropped from the caskets that isn't R/EX.

I remember when you could goto Qufim Island and see Tresure Chest there. And Raidenleonhart just remember and I quote.[quote][Treasure Caskets will present themselves on rare occasions only in certain areas which are part of the original FINAL FANTASY XI package.
