Low level content too late, stop already Q_Q

I am so glad there is going to be new content for low level. There needs to be useful things to do that are fun and give XP and Fame. I tried to get some of my friends to play and it was boring for them.

Current issues that should be addressed:

1. There should be an in-game library that gives information about low level places, monsters and game concepts so new players have clues about most of the early quest in the game. No more going to websites or strategy guides to figure out basics. We need information on food effects listed on the food item.

2. There should be a lot less time recovering from combat. There needs to be cheaper low level potions for recovery of HP and MP and foods that really make a difference.

3. An in-game bulletin board for missions and quest. It is very frustrating to have to search for people. Perhaps better use of the Character Comment line?

4. Simpler Player vs. Player events. These should start at lower levels. The Taverns and Inns would be a great place for mini games. This could also be a place for bulletin boards. I wish Tetra Master was in game somehow. Having the cards and the game within the game would allow something to do will forming group events for lower level players. I am not sure how many people play the game in its current form.

5.Some things like the Chocobo Races are cool, but they are way too complex.

6. Get rid of XP loss when losing battles.

I really want this game to be fun and addictive. Lately I feel no need to play other than to try to level my character to go back and solo earlier difficult missions. There are always improvements and changes to the game, which is good. I really hope the choices that are made for low level players really matter. One idea is to have things low levels only can do to get items or events set up that the high level player depend on. That way more levels of players and interact.

Hoping to hear interesting comments on this,
Benelux

What would be the point of Raise? That would be one more nail in WHM coffin.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

Yes and being a 75WHM I think we can all agree we're trying really hard to push the nails already in our coffins out. We'd appreciate not having any more driven in. ^^

For those of you who think the game is dying because SE is making a heart felt attempt at making the game more welcoming to new players, quit and play WoW. Obviously you haven't experienced any of the still many exciting and challenging events this game has to offer. The way I see it is people play this game for years, grow out of it or other things encompass their time and they leave. SE is simply trying to make the game more inviting so people at least come in the front door and get their feet wet. If that didn't happen we'd see a huge decline in population and what fun is a MMORPG with out any people? If you're worried this game is dying, don't. When they merge multiple servers is the time to begin worrying.

Mysterytour used to have a list of all the release dates (including those for expansions) with counters showing how many days it had been since the releases, but I can't find it now.

Per Wikipedia, here are the launch dates for the main game:

PlayStation 2
JP May 16, 2002
NA March 23, 2004
Windows (PC)
JP November 7, 2002
NA October 28, 2003
PAL September 17, 2004
Xbox 360
NA April 18, 2006
JP April 20, 2006
PAL April 20, 2006

They really need to give RDM a new Refresh spell. I've been talking with other RDM's in game and they agree with me. Refresh just can't keep up with the demand of a high lvl party. And as far as changes are concerned, yeah if they make it so that you could solo lvl that would be great. I know I have little time to play because I work from 3pm to as late as 3 or 4am. So that would really help me out alot. Oh, and the only thing that drives away the masses is talk of the Absolute Virtue Fights. Poeple say to me that they hate the idea that there's boss fights that last for 30+ hours in game.

There's a whole other class called BRD that can stack Ballads onto Refresh, and lets not forget Vermilion Cloak & Noble's Tunic for 7mp/tick. If doing stuff at Aht Urghan, sanction adds another tick for a total of 8mp/tick. Also, as an RDM, we have Convert as well. RDM is one of the most mana efficient job yet you still want another Refresh?

Maybe you need to re-strategize your spell priorities and rotation.

RDM don't really 'need' another refresh spell, i mean if your so worried about refreshing the whole party thats what bard is there to help with, unless you like being the fulltime refresh *****. SE said during last fanfest, they wanted to move red mage more towards the front lines. Tier 2 enspells? maybe idk. but rdm is a jack of all trades not just a refresh/haste *****. and as for soloing, they already boosted the EXP gained on easy prey and decent challenges... which is already an improvement from what it used to be...

They have to make some changes to how leveling occurs. The update hints to some system changes. I hope that they allow some sort of solo leveling. I know it makes it easier to get to 75 but with the lower pop and not as many people leveling jobs lfg is very difficult. Especial after level 37.

Personally, I'd like that alot. I solo alot. Not because I don't like to PT (I love to), it is just that I often have time constraints due to having a family and work. I've soloed since I could get a free perp Carbuncle. It's been more then a few years now and with an addiction to playing new jobs, leveling up my crafting, and selling things on the AH (which sometimes slows my crafting) I still don't have a level 75 (I'm a less then 1/2 way to 74). Haha, I know it's funny and I laugh about it, too. Maybe soon, I can get off this soloing stuff and move back into the fun times with a party like I do on Friday and Saturday nights.

And as for what was posted by Allakhazam about this new update:

I bold texted what I found to be interesting. Something we've never seen before! This is great news. Could it be related to crafting? I'd love to get my Smithing up a little. I recently got a BlackSmithing +1 equipment that the WoTG expansion made a quest for. Keep thinking outside of the box. Maybe it will be MMORPG changing for the better! New players {Yes please}. I often go to starting areas and help new players out.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 05 2008 at 9:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) They can do all the updates that they want, but what good is it going to do when people are still getting their accounts hacked, all of their stuff stolen once they reach lvl 75, and then SE still refuses to get off their @$$ to do anything about it?

You haven't been here 6 years unless you're Japanese. The game came out in the U.S. in October of '03. I personally started Nov 3rd of '03. As for coming out on PS2, wth? Where'd you hear that? At least in America, the game came out for PC in Fall of '03, and PS2 in Spring of '04. I could swear that they didn't have it out on PS2 in Japan before we saw the game. Could be wrong on that, but I highly doubt it.

I've been playing for 5 years, and only have one lvl 75. I very much like the sound of this update. Not everyone can play 100+ hours a week and level everything to 75. I'm excited to take up some of my other lower lvl jobs that i've put off because of time restraints.

I'm ready for SE to pimp out scholar with there group 2 merrits. Scholar is an amazing job that just needs a little fine tuning. The dont specialize in anything but magically can do a little of everything. They only lack haste. I wanto to see something released to make scholar shine completely for the amazing job it is.

think blm gonna get some updates? or maybe PUP? would be nice if it happened... or at least some new gear for lower lvls, or at least another option at 29-AF for blm other than seers gear...

The only thing "new content for low lvl players" could mean is a new are to lvl. Maybe I will finally get around to leveling blu.

More like you've seen it before, but we're just using that term to make you think you haven't already seen it yet. When really you did.

Since you can't Skillup in Campaign battles. Why not give us something we skill up in.

This is not only beneficial to new players, but even most players that have been around since the beginning can enjoy low level content!

Seems like a nerf, anyone?

Did you even read what was posted? A nerf would be making older content easier. What I got out of it was that it was going to be new content with low level players in mind. Maybe this part of the article is what tipped me off:

Bring them to your level easier? why even skill/lvl up anymore just have a upgrade to 75 option :/ . Yes make the game more fun but why make things easier for new players? did everyone else get Easier when they started to lvl a job? Are semi new (level Sync) and things to come updates a hint that the game is dying?

Good timing
# Nov 10 2008 at 3:29 PM Rating: Decent
the introduction of level sync in no way means this game is dying the fact that this game is 6 years old and most people have all the main jobs lvled to 75 all this does is help the people who want to lvl there other lower level jobs without searching for a party for 24 hours since now they can bring the people that have leveled there jobs to 75 down to there level all in all just meens that most people have already leveled most of there jobs now it gives people a chance to lvl the jobs they wanted to lvl but couldnt cause no one near there level range
mmmmmm
