Producer's Letter Posted

Sony has posted up a new producer's letter. It concerns the patches scheduled for the end of March and April. You can read it at this link. I have also posted it in its entirety below. --------------------------- Greetings from the EverQuest Online Adventures Team! This Producer's Letter is the first in a series of monthly installments that will contain news from the development team about the game and the EverQuest Online Adventures community. The focus of this letter is game updates and how we design them. The last month has been an absolute blast for us. We have been working on EverQuest Online Adventures for several years and the launch of the game exceeded our hopes in every way. The best part of launching this game is the opportunity to share the game with a live audience. One of the fantastic things about EverQuest Online Adventures is that we can improve the game as we play it. Many of you have been enjoying the new quests that we are adding to the game. However, new quests, items and abilities are just the tip of the iceberg. Our first game client update will occur towards the end of March. This game update will not only add new content to the game, but it will also enhance the way that you play the game. Based on what we learned from playing with the game audience, we developed a system to help players keep track of their groupmates. Dots on the compass will indicate the location of your groupmates, and the targeting distance for groupmates has been enhanced as well. We're working on an exciting new feature for an update in April that we think will be very popular: Fishing. Players will be able to fish at any body of water to gain food, treasure and the occasional boot. There are some cool details that make the system really unique and fun, but we'll save them for later. So how does it work? How does the EverQuest Online Adventures team decide how to change the game? We play the game just like you guys do. We play with the audience and we read the message boards. We study the numbers and we talk about the game. Everyone on the team loves online gaming and this is our dream job. We have a staff of developers that is committed to keeping the game fresh with new content and enhancements that will be delivered throughout the life of the product. Most developers don't get a chance to interact with gamers through a game like we do, and we have a great time doing it. As a team, we maintain a list of new content that we want to add to the game. We also have plans for game feature updates scheduled out over the next year. However, sometimes we learn something about the game by playing it or from fans that inspires us. Making good games means paying attention to the details, and working with the EverQuest Online Adventures Community helps us to identify details in the game that can use improvement. While you play the game, you will see your favorite features enhanced and you will see new features added that reflect your opinions about the game. Thanks for an awesome first month! We're having a blast and we hope that you are, too. We'll talk again next month. Sincerely, Ben Bell Producer EverQuest Online Adventures
