The Media's Not Getting Games Right, from Next Gen

Next Gen has a great article up on how truly out of touch the main stream media is with reality when it comes to games, and the gaming industry.
We all rely heavily on the news media to shape the decisions we make in life.  As I write this, the TV news is playing in the background. I have a long journey to make later today and bad weather is threatening. I might look out the window and decide whether or not to try the journey, but more likely, I’ll watch the TV, scanning for pictures of stranded vehicles or over-turned trucks.

So it is with videogames. The media’s role in which games we play or even whether or not we play games at all, is immense. You read reviews. You read Op-Eds and you read the news. They don’t entirely shape your view of the world of games – friends, personal experience and innate prejudices are also important - but they do have a big impact.
It's a great look at why the media we allow into our lives is so off kilter for something so central to so many of us.
