Sony Online Entertainment announced last July, plans to set up a studio in India!  They're working with Virgin Comics in the endeavor.  Today comes news that furthers that announcement from Next Gen.

The San Diego, Calif-based studio is currently in talks with a couple of Indian game developers and plans to found a local studio early next year.

“We need to have Indian content for our games and we are looking for local partners,” said Dave Christensen, VP of business development and international operations at SOE, speaking during a gaming conference in Mumbai, India.

“We will contribute our technology to the joint venture,” he added.

According to the report, the Indian partner will be responsible for finding creative talent and will also “chip in” towards founding the studio, which is likely to be based in Bangalore.

It's not news that SOE will bring Virgin Comic book Ramayan 3392 A.D to the MMO world, and there are talks of movie deals, and if the game does well in India, transporting it to European and North American gamers as well.  But with a gaming conference taking place in Mumbai, India this week, news is abundant and we thought we'd bring it to the forefront.
